Murder

“Don’t panic! We can kill a chimera if we stick together!” “I-i-i-I don’t want to die!” Despite Sirius tried his best to control the situation, a coward immediately used his Fairy’s wing and with a gust of wind, his body is carried away by a green light pillar. “Sh*t I don’t want to die too!” “Don’t flee, get in your position or I’ll report to the guild master later!” “Who’s going to report us if you are all dead inside?” As soon as it already happened once, all of the people lost their hesitation and used the fairy’s wing. Abandoning their teammates who doesn’t bring it. “Sirius what should we do?” Sirius looked at his teammate who is still staying behind. “Jacob, do you have a fairy’s wing on you?” Jacob however shook his head and looked pretty grim. “Jacob, you’ve done great so far. Now take this fairy’s wing and report the situation to the guild master. The best thing you can do right now returns with high-level members to save us.” Sirius gives Jacob his own fairy’s wing and forces him to use the item immediately. Baldur, already gone as he used his fairy’s wing without Sirius noticing. Diane the archer and Thea the mage is still there with him but he couldn’t see any way for them to win if it’s really a high-level chimera. Not to mention that most of the party members have escaped. “Everyone, we need to stick and work together if we want to survive. Jacob will surely be reporting this to the guild master and he will come to our rescue. We just need to hold on.” Sirius takes out his red sword that is hanging on his belt. He is ready for battle. At this point, the chimera already moves forward and kill an unlucky mage who is situated nearest the chimera. “Aaaargh!” Seeing their party member died just like that, the rest of them scattered and run away. No matter what, in front of the death’s door, what’s more important than reputation is their own life? They didn’t care if they will face sanctions from the guild master as long as they survived. At least their punishment will still be less than the rest who used the fairy’s wing to flee earlier. Seeing what happened to the party, Sirius can only sigh. After all, most of the party member who comes with him today is new recruits and the low-level member who doesn’t have a high sense of belonging and loyalty. If he wasn’t there to protect Diane and Thea who is considered a good seedling for the guild, he will use his own fairy’s wing from earlier. “Diane, Thea, will you support me?” Just when Sirius is looking for the two to help him, he was frozen in place. In Diane’s and Thea’s hand, they are holding a fairy’s wing. The two are wearing a complicated expression as they looked at Sirius. Clearly, Sirius is the i***t one. As the guild put much importance to them, how can they didn’t provide the two with a fairy’s wing? “It’s alright, you can just leave.” From the original 50 party members, 20 used fairy’s wings to escape the dungeon and from the remaining 30, 15 flee the place giving a run for their life. Only 15 left, no only 13 left as Diane and Thea immediately used their fairy’s wing. In a short amount of time, 4 already fell into the chimera’s claw and only 9 left in place. 8 are shivering and scared while Sirius is the only one really anticipating for battle. However, he now lost all will to struggle.  Even the fastest estimate the guild will send a rescue force it will be in an hour. Not to mention with some important members already escape the place using the fairy’s wing. Sirius can already predict that there will be no rescue force sent to save him. “F*ck this! I really shouldn’t have given Jacob my fairy’s wing.” Sirius held up his sword again. This time however it wasn’t directed at the chimera. It was directed at his own heart. “I rather kill myself than die to that beast. Consider this my repentance for being an i***t and giving my fairy’s wing to Jacob.” “Rather than dying just like that. How about you die under my hands? At least you can help another soul in hope that he can survive this.” I muttered the words slowly but clearly at Sirius's ear. Before he gets any chance to react, my goblin’s cleaver cleanly cut his neck. I heard about it before. Aside from riches, another reason to kill another person inside the dungeon is because of the experience. Humans also give experience when killed. I wanted to check the theory out. I feel hesitant about killing a good man like Sirius but I just can’t forgive myself if he really kills himself. At least if I kill him, he won’t go to hell for the sin of homicide. This good man deserves to go to heaven. I am conflicted deep inside. Killing another human, it was a crime worthy of getting into jail for 10 years at a minimum. But, seeing the scene that happened in front of me, humans betraying each other, seeing my classmates eaten by a monster. I think something inside of me snapped. The world has changed and I already made my resolve to change as I entered the dungeon. This is also my big step to change myself. Killing others. I look at my hands that are covered in Sirius’s blood. Strangely enough, my heart didn’t feel regret nor my mind feels repulsive for killing him. It seemed that I have already giving silent approval to my own action. This is something that I need to do to survive. When I entered the dungeon, I come with the mentality that I am already prepared to die. It should be the same with these people. If you die inside the dungeon, nobody will care. It is your fault for entering the dungeon. If I die alone inside the dungeon, no one will care and no one will know. Following that logic, who will care if someone dies inside the dungeon? What’s the difference between them dying to the monster and me killing them? After all, you have decided to get inside the dungeon. You have to be prepared for your death as soon as you enter it. Of course, I wouldn’t be mindlessly killing everyone. I will just kill those who I deemed suitable to kill.   「You have killed Sirius Dirk. 」 「You have earned 5000 experience. 」 「 You have leveled up. 」 「 You have leveled up. 」 「You have gained 10 unallocated stats point. 」 「You have unlocked title. You have earned the title 《cutthroat》. 」 「Cutthroat (Rare): murderous, cruel, and ruthless. You are willing to do anything to survive. Nothing is forbidden and immoral. Sneak attack +10 damage. Cloaking skill +10. Backstab +10 damage. Hesitation -10. Moral -10. Infamy +10. 」 Killing Sirius earned me 2 levels since the experience I earned from killing him is equal to killing 50 goblins at once. I am not surprised by the title I earned since it was fitting for my situation. The effect is also in my favor so I am quite content with it although I didn’t know how hesitation, morals, and infamy will affect me. Seeing that the chimera is going to kill the remaining survivor, I need to kill them before they are killed by the chimera. At least they will become my experience point, not the chimera’s. They will contribute to increasing my chance of escaping this dungeon. I should say that they die for a greater cause.
