With the ice cubes sealed in a plastic bag thrown into my purse, and my sick son in my arms, I marched into the hospital with the determination of a mother who will not lose her child.
"Bring me Dr. Kepler, immediately," I shout to a nearby nurse as I pass and place my son gently on a gurney.
A nearby nurse bows, showing her neck in submission as she replies that it isn't possible. "The doctor is in surgery trying to save the life of one of the athletes. If we could..."
