Daisy sat in Mrs. Kelly’s living room eagerly awaiting Jim’s return with Rey. The old woman sat in her recliner surrounded by several balls of cotton wool in different colors and a crotchet hook in her hands. She had what appeared to be half a blanket on her lap. Daisy watched the woman’s fingers twist and turn in strange ways as she continued crocheting the blanket to full length. Daisy could only half focus on the scene before her eyes. Her mind was fully on the sounds outside the house. Daisy heard what sounded like a car approaching and quickly jumped off the sofa to see out the window. “Jesus, child.
