The table had been set with Betty Drew’s best china and it sparkled under the room lights. One would have thought this was dinner with the town Mayor or something. Too much fuss had been made over this dinner, Daisy had to wonder who the honored guest would be. She stood in the corner of the room where she had been instructed by her father, Bernard. She wrapped her arms around her torso and tried to ignore the stomach ache she was having due to anxiety. She pulled at the hideous fabric of the dress her father had brought for her that morning to wear for the occasion. Given an option, Daisy would never have been caught dead in such an ugly thing.
