Chapter 2 Alpha Darius’ POV Getting to the Rogue King’s packhouse, I couldn’t wait to see what he had to say. He claims he has something of mine, but that’s impossible. What could he have that I’ve lost? “Are you sure this isnt a trap?” My Beta, Daniel, asked. “I am sure it is,” I said, looking at him. “But if he thinks I am not prepared, then it's his loss.” I mused. I know I have to be careful as I am the only one who has been after. My mate was murdered by someone. I am still looking for the person who did it. It's been five long years, and I feel like I am not getting anywhere, and it's starting to make me question myself. When we got there, the place was empty. I don’t know if they are going to attack us, but we’re ready. “What’s going on?” Daniel asked. “I don’t know, but I don’t like it. Maybe we should head inside, at least if they are going to do something, we’ll be ready for them.” I said, looking around, I didn’t like the feeling I was getting. Even though the Rogue King has made a treaty with us, I still don’t trust him enough not to do something stupid. “Nothing,” Daniel said, looking around. “Why are we here?” “He said he has something of mine,” I said, pinching my nose. “I am sure it's just another one of his tricks, I am sure he isnt here.” “Well then, let's get out of here before something does happen,” he said. I don’t know why my Beta is scared; when he is scared, something is usually wrong. I turned to leave, and there stood the Rogue King. “You’re early,” he mused. “Welcome.” “We’re not welcomed here.” I calmly said. “But you wanted me to come here and I am here.” I said taking a stance. I didn’t want any problems from him, but I know he is going to try something. “Now what was so important that he couldn’t just tell me over the phone. “Why am I here?” “I have someone you want,” he mused, walking closer to me. I could tell he wanted to attack, but he isnt. “I mean, why would you let her go so easily?” “What the hell are you talking about?” I growled at him. “Enough with the games, just tell me why I am here.” “Your Lun,” he cackled. “What the f**k are you talking about. She was killed years ago.” I snapped. “Dont you f*****g try something stupid.” I don’t know what he thinks he is doing, but he is the reason she is dead. I cannot believe he is trying this now. I never recovered from losing her. I almost lost my entire pack because of her death. “Well I found her in the city, she is much alive.” he laughed. “If you weren’t so lost, you would have sensed her too.” he laughed. “But since you don’t know she is alive, I guess we’re done talking.” he said turning to walk out the door. “I am going to have a lot of fun with my friend.” “Stop.” I snarled. “If you are telling the truth, then where is she?” “She is not so safe,” he cackled. “When I am done with her, I will have your pack,” he said before bolting out the door. I don’t know if I should believe what he is saying, but if there is a chance that she is around I have to find her before he takes her away. “Find her.” I linked the warriors I brought with me. “Are you sure he isn't lying?” Daniel asked. “I mean, I did notice a shift in you, but I thought it was nothing,” he sighed. “I will check the dungeon,” he said, leaving me standing there. I don’t know what the hell happened; my life was upside down because I lost her, but now he claims that he found her. Is there any way this all could be true? “Darius, come to the cells.” Daniel linked to me. “There are people here.” Great its not something I want to face, I am worried that he wasnt lying and he already took her, but now that I have some prisoners here that I am taking. “Coming.” I said stepping outside, the air is crisp winter is coming its something my pack and I love. The humans don’t bother us in the woods, but we just are careful. I know my Luina loved this place in the woods more than going into the city to see and deal with the humans. I know I should have taken her the day that she died, but she wasn't feeling all that well. We lost a baby just before she died, I am not even sure she would have recovered from the loss; it was hard on her. But then the attack happened, and they killed her. Walking to the cells, I felt something here, but I wasn't sure if it was because of all of the things that had just happened. I know my Luna is dead. I was there when she was buried. I know the Moon Goddess isnt going to be that cruel and show her to me, and then take her away again, I hope that isnt going to go down like that., “Here,” Daniel said. “I don’t see any females, but there are four males here,” he said, pointing to each cell. “Why did he say he had her?” “Maybe he was lying.” I smelled something familiar, but it was faint. “Wait.” “What?” he said, confused. “I’ve been through here, there isnt anyone else here,” he said, looking around. “Well,” I said, walking to a wall. “Trap door,” I said, pushing some broken wood out of the way. “Someone or a few people are here.” Pushing the door open, the smell got stronger, but she or the person was very weak. “Come on, we have to hurry,” I whine, not meaning to. I knew my Luna couldn’t be here, but if she was, then I had to make sure she was safe, and she knew I was here now. I am worried it's another trap, but that smell is starting to drive my wolf mad. “Go!” he cursed at me. “Go!” Rushing down the stairs, there were three more cages, but something forced me to walk past them and to the back wall. A small woman was chained there. Her eyes were closed, but she was alive. Slowly walking to her, my hands shook. Was this her? What did he do to her? I moved her hair from her face, she looked different, this isnt my Luna, but she has her smell. “No.” I sighed. “He lied, but she is someone special.” I said looking at Daniel. “Lets get her back to the pack house, and when she wakes up and recovers I will ask her about all of this.” “She looks different,” Daniel said as we unchained her. “She smells like our Luna.” “So you smell it too?” I said picking her up, she didn’t shift her weight, is she going to die all over again? “Well, yeah, it's kind of hard not to smell her,” he said, looking at her. “What, and how did this happen? I thought wolves don’t come back?” I didn’t have an answer for him, all of this is confusing and I am a little pissed off. If she is my Luna, why didn’t I know about her? Why didn’t the Moon Goddess come to tell me that she was giving her back. It didn’t take us long to get her back to the pack house, Doctor Michael was waiting with his team when we arrived. “This is her?” he asked as I laid her on the bed. “I don’t know.” I sighed. Part of me wanted to believe she was my mate, but I lost her. I cannot wrap my head around all of this. I wanted to ask her so many questions, but if this isnt her life anymore, I don’t want to scare her, and I don’t want her thinking we’re crazy either. “She’s part human.” he said looking at me. “I mean human, she hasnt shifted.” “So what does that mean?” “Well we’ll know more about her when she wakes up. But I wouldnt ask her about wolves and all of that, because she might not know about us.” he sighed. “I have a feeling she is really lost in her world, and now she is being shifted to ours.” I still don’t know what the f**k is going on, will she reject me and then I get to experience this all over again, or if she is going to run away and think that I am crazy? Either way I don’t know how I am going to deal with a rejection. I am pissed off, “I need to run, link to me when she wakes up and I want to make sure she is safe.” I said walking out of the room. I don’t like feeling weak, but right now I am in that state of mind, and I need to get away from this all right now. That bastard found a woman that smells like my mate, I am confused and pissed off!
