First Love

"Arie , are you coming ?" Kate , my best friend since childhood asked . "Where to?" I asked confused because I was so trapped on the page where Bella saw Edward for the first time . "Stop reading that stupid book and join us , we're going to Starbucks ." my other childhood best friend , Cassy exclaimed. "I'll pass on this one." I replied still fixated in the book called Twilight . "Are you sure ?" Kate asked "They are holding a special on your favourite pumpkin spiced latte ." "As tempting as that seems , my answer is still no ." "If you come with us , we'll buy us tickets to watch Twilight at the movies , this Saturday ." Kate says , trying to win me over. "How can I resist such an offer ." I exclaim while closing the book and putting it in my bag . "What are you waiting for , let's go !" The drive from my house to Starbucks wasn't that long , since it's a small town so we arrived there in no time . When we stepped into Starbucks , the smell of freshly brewed coffee and desserts hung in the air and made my taste buds prickle . "I'll go place our orders ." I tell them and shooing them off to find us a table to sit at . "Hi , welcome to Starbucks , what can I get you ?" a guy who was awfully attractive asked me . "Uh , can I get a large hazelnut macchiato , a caramel flavoured ice coffee and a large pumpkin spiced latte please." I reply with a smile . I then turned around to walk over to where my friends were seated but walked into a tall , well build frame . I looked up to see , Tyler Scott who's known as the bad boy at school , holding me steady in his arms to save me the embarrassment of falling flat on my ass . "Watch where you're going , nerd ." he mutters and brings me to my feet . "Uhm , thank you ." I say and walked away before I make a bigger fool out of myself . I reach the counter in front again to retrieve my order . "Here are your coffee's. "I exclaim as I put the warm and cold liquids down "yeah , no it's a pleasure ." "Oh , sorry I'm still shocked about what just happened." Cassy says while taking a sip of her hazelnut macchiato . "Yeah , that was the first interaction you've made with him since , Trevor passed away ." Kate says with a sad smile . Trevor and I were best friends before I met Kate and Cassy . We were insepreable ever since we met each other . We use to do everything together but after his fifteenth birthday we found out that he was diagnosed with cancer and after months of cemo-therapy and seeing him lossing himself , he passed away . Trevor knew I always had a crush on Tyler but after Trevor died , Tyler cut all ties with me and now makes as if I don't exist . "I know but can we just forget about what just happened and enjoy our coffee's?" I asked with a sigh . After we were done drinking our coffee's and cracking jokes, we went to the movies to buy our tickets beforehand so that we don't sit at the back . Then we headed home . As weird as it seems Kate , Cassy and I live next to-and across for one another . Kate lives next to me and Cassy lives across from us . That's how our friendship started . When I was around 7years old , my mom took me to the park a few blocks away from my house and there's where I met Cassy and Kate .When my mom said it was time to head home , I was so sad that I refused to leave . Kate's mother then saw the whole shinanigans and offered me to go home with them and play there . My mother was sceptical at first because they were total strangers but then asked their address and that's when my mom found out that they were our new neighbors that moved in next door the day before .We then saw Cassy playing across from the street the next day and swore that we'll forever be best friends . "Shawn , are you home ?" I shouted when I entered our house . "Yeah , upstairs ." He shouted back . I headed upstairs and nocked on his bedroom door , when he didn't open I walked in without his permission . What I saw , made me think I was scarred for life . Shawn is my oompa-loompa of a brother and he was currently busy cutting his toenails while scratching in his nose .He looked up and saw me standing there , I could tell that he was clearly embarrassed so I couldn't help myself by taking a picture . I burst out with laughter and quickly ran to my room . I locked the door because I knew that he would kill me if I posted the picture on social media . His image of being popular would definitely be ruined . Just when I considered posting it and getting him back for what he did to me yesterday , I heard him banging on the door . "Ariana Amelia Perry , open this door right now or I'll kick it open !" Shawn threatened . "No , and you know mom will kill you if you break my bedroom door again !" I shouted . "What if we negotiate on something ?" he then suggested . "I'm listening ." "I'll wash the dishes and allow you to use my car for a month ." he replied "Nope , I actually love washing the dishes ." "What if , I let you and your friends come with me to ,Alex's party tonight?" "Nope , I don't go to parties ." I say with a playful chuckle . "Come on , I know grimlin number one and two wants to go , I heard them talking about it last night ." he replies with hope laced in his voice . "Okay , fine what time does it start ?" "At ten ,so will you open the door now ?" I opened the door and gave him my phone so that he can delete the picture . He then went back to his room and locked it this time . Me on the other hand called Cassy and Kate , informing them that we're going to Alex's party tonight .Cassy obviously freaked out because Alex is Tyler's older brother .Cassy has been crushing on him for over a year now .Her first encounter with him was at my house when Alex and my brother , Shawn played video games . Cassy's a pretty good gamer so she asked if she could join them .She then played against Alex and beated his ass and that's when sparks ignited in the air . Since that day she couldn't stop talking and daydreaming about him . Alex and my brother are best friends so she had many encounters with Alex but was never able to utter a word to him . "Are you sure that we can go to Alex's party tonight ?" Cassy asks for the 10'th time . "Yes, Cassy I'm sure and since Alex and I are also friends , he'll surely let us in ." I confirmed . "Great , we'll come over in three minutes ." Kate replied . "But the party starts at ten and there's still three hours left ." "Yeah but we still have a lot to do before then ." Cassy says then both of them ends the call . In a matter of seconds I heard them come upstairs . "That was not three minutes ." I say with a chuckle when they walk into my room . "What are you wearing tonight?" Cassy asked me while scratching in my cupboard . I honestly didn't know what I was going to wear so I avoided that question and scrolled through my i********: feed on my phone . "Here wear this ." Cassy exclaims loudly . She was holding a knee length , black dress in her hand that has thin straps and is see-through on both sides of the dress . "I am not wearing that ." I reply while shaking my head with wide eyes "Shawn will flip when he sees me wearing that ." My aunt, Lara bought me that for my sixteenth birthday .She's a designer so I knew she had good taste . She was right it did look good on me . After refusing to wear the dress , Kate pushed me into my bathroom saying that I should freshen up and to put it on . Cassy and Kate immediately started doing my hair and make up when I walked out of the bathroom and asking them if I looked okay . They first stared in aww but snapped out of it and muttering that there's still a lot to do . After they made me look hot , they put on their dresses . Kate dressed herself in a short floral dress with a pair of ankle , high heel boots that had a peeptoe .Cassy on the other hand dressed herself in a maroon , tight knee length dress that had a long sleeve on her right arm . She paired her sexy dress with a pair of black stilletos . I wanted to pair my dress with my favorite white converse but was scold at by Cassy , saying that it's a party and not a sneaker convention and gave me a pair of golden heels that had laces . Just on time, Shawn came in and I could've swore that I heard Kate's breath hitch . "You girls ready ?" he asked until his eyes landed on me . "You're not wearing that ." he exclaimed . "Oh , she is ." Cassy says grabbing both me and Kate's hands and walking past Shawn . The drive to Alex's house was the worst . No one uttered a word while Shawn was driving . Mostly because we were scared that he'll turn around and let us stay at home . We heard the loud music when we turned on the right corner of , Marrybrew street and knew that it could only be Alex's house that's blasting the loud music . " You girls look georgous ." Alex says as we enter his house . We just smiled as a thank you and headed to the kitchen because Cassy wanted a drink after seeing Alex looking hot in a white V neck and Levi ripped jeans . Tequila , Vodka, Rum and beer were displayed on the kitchen island alongside different flavoured juices and sparkling water for those who are the designated drivers . "You want some ?" Cassy asked me while she three herself a drink . I shook my head indicating that I won't be drinking tonight nor will I ever . I then told Kate and Cassy that I'll be looking for a quiet place to sit and wait till they get drunk and call me to drive them home . I walked upstairs and saw that Trevor's room was unlocked and walked inside . I slowly walked to his bed and sat on it .The room was still how he left it . I couldn't help but to break into tears at the picture that was on his desk . It was a picture taken by his mother on his fifteenth birthday party . We were looking at each other with cake covered faces . The picture brought back memories that I wanted to forget because it only brought back heartache and tears . The door suddenly bursts open and standing there was , Tyler . I quickly stood up and wanted to walk to out but Tyler stopped me . "It's okay , you can stay ." he says with a sad smile . I smelled his breath and looked at his eyes to see if he was drunk but I was shocked to see that he wasn't , he was sober . "I miss him so much , you know ." Tyler says after I took a seat on the bed again "He would've panicked and went crazy if he was here now while we were throwing this party ." "We all miss him , Tyler ." I reply looking up at him . "Ariana ?" Tyler says searching my eyes . "Hmm ?" "I'm so sorry for the way I treated you , I never should've shut you out when we both needed each other the most . I only thought about myself and how I lost my twin and that was so selfish of me because you lost a best friend . You guys spent so much time together and I was jealous of that .So when Trevor passed away I felt so guilty of always wishing that I was Trevor and that I could've been your best friend , that I blamed it on you. I'm really sorry , Arie ." he confessed while tears streamed down his face. I walked over to him and took his hand in mine . "Tyler , it's okay I was never angry at you for shutting me out , I was just heartbroken that you wouldn't have let me mourn with you and yes I forgive you ." I reply with a smile . Just when Tyler wanted to say something , my phone rang . I saw that it was Kate and immediately picked it up . "Hey , are you okay ?" I asked after picking up . "I'm okay but Cassy's not , she's dancing on the table and saying that she's gonna skinny dip in Alex's pool !" Kate exclaims over the phone . I ran down stairs leaving Tyler in the room . I squirmed through the sweaty bodies to find Kate in the living room , trying to get Cassy off of the table . "Cassy get off of the table please !" I pleaded . "Hey , Alex's come dance with me !" she shouts and everyone looks at Alex as he's walking towards us . "How much did she drink ?" Alex asks "Enough to make her do this " I reply with a sigh . "Hey , I'm not drunk ." Cassy shouts . "Yes , you are so please get down before you hurt yourself ." My words made Cassy angry which I didn't think would because I could the look on her face changed . "At least I have the balls to tell Alex that I have a crush on him when I'm drunk which you can't even do when your drunk nor sober . I won't bury my feelings for Alex like you did with Tyler !" she shouts and suddenly the party goes silent . "How could you, Cassy !" Kate shouts at her clearly just as angry as I am . "What ?" Tyler's voice booms through the house . I turn around and see him standing behind me . "I can't deal with this s**t right now ." I say and walk out of the house as fast as I can . I search the backyard for Shawn but couldn't find him so I called a Uber . I walked down the road with tears streaming down my face and replaying the words , Cassy said . How could she expose me like that , even after we swore to never expose each other's secrets . We've been best friends for ten years and she turns on me like that .I don't know if I'm angry or disappointed so I just clear my mind my looking up at the sky . Trevor said that whenever I feel sad or angry that I should look up at the sky and know that he's up there looking down on me . That made me cry even more because I really needed him right now .He would've made me feel so much better and could've even made me forget about what was going on . My Uber driver stopped in front of me and probably saw how I looked so he climbed out and opened the door for me . I didn't evens look up to see how the person looked because I was so trapped in my own mind . "Are you okay?" the guy asked while we were driving to my house . "No , I think my life is ruined ." I exclaim , tears streaming down my face . "It can't be that bad ? " he says handing me a tissue "I'm a Uber driver for a living so , what can be badder than this ? " he replied while laughing. His laugh was so angelic and carefree and that made me laugh too . I looked up to get me another tissue and was stunned at how attractive this guy looked . "Wow" I muttered to myself . "And we've arrived at your destination , make sure to give me five stars ." he says with a smile ."oh and I hope whatever problems you're having , that it'll be sorted out because you're to pretty to be crying ." "Thank you ." I say with a small smile . I waved goodbye to the attractive driver and headed inside . "Hey , honey what's wrong ?" my mom asked and engulfes me in a hug . My mother works as a nurse at the Blue Valley hospital so we don't see her a lot but when we do , we make sure to make the most of it because she works her ass off to provide food on the table . "Can I get a cup of hot chocolate , please ?" I asked between sniffles . "Of course honey ." she says and heads to the kitchen to make some . I head upstairs to change into something more comfortable and layed in my bed , waiting for the hot chocolate that will take most of pain away . Trevor loved hot chocolate, he always said that he could live off of it if his mother allowed him too . Not long after snuggling into my bed , my mother came in with to cups of hot chocolate that had marshmallows ontop of them . I told her everything that happened from the incident at Starbucks to the part where Cassy told everyone that I have a crush on Tyler . "Oh , honey I'm so sorry ." my mother says while engulfing me in another bear hug. I fell asleep to a memory of Trevor and I . We were sitting in his backyard looking at the stars while munching on Reece's peanut butter cups and drinking hot chocolate .We laughed at Tyler who got stuck in the fence and couldn't get through.Tyler begged us for an hour to help him and in the end we gave in and helped his ass . He had a lot of scrapes on his legs and arms so we felt bad for him and gave him our peanut butter cups as an apology for not helping him any sooner . If only Trevor was still here.
