Part 1
"If you don't have any relationship with him. How could he know about your body?! Tell me Ly! What exactly is your relationship with him?!" screeched a woman with tears that had been spilled a few minutes ago. Drenching her face like the rain that was now falling on the earth, pounding on the windows of the luxury car that housed them. The man beside her just glanced over with his mouth perfectly shut but looked furious. Trying not to have his concentration broken by the petite woman's shivering roar, he didn't know if it was because of the cold air inside the car or because the emotions spreading inside his chest made a sharp pain every time he breathed. "If I say I have no relationship with him, then that means I really have nothing with him! Why is it so hard to accept such a simple sentence, Adelia?!" Lysander gripped the gear lever of the car he was driving tightly. Trying very hard not to be overcome by his anger. But the woman who would soon become his wife continued to wear his patience thin. "You're lying! How could he have sent this picture if you weren't with him last night! You're a liar! At this rate, we'll just cancel our wedding!" she shouted now getting hysterical. She even started beating the man beside her. "Adelia! Stop it!" Lysander still wanted to try to dispel his woman's emotions but it was getting worse. Even though Lysander had absolutely no idea what he had done wrong? When he picked up his fiancée, Adelia immediately went crazy. Of course it was very disturbing for Lysander. Even though they were now on a quiet street, the street was still the street. The slightest loss of concentration and they would be in trouble. And this woman, she was beating Lysander's body quite hard. This woman had gone too far. Cit...! The sound of tires being braked suddenly sounded loudly around the deserted and dark T-junction road on a rainy night that was just drizzling, only the lights from their car highlighted the black asphalt road. Of course, Lysander's action caused Adelia to be immediately thrown forward. Lysander immediately hit the steering wheel in front of him hard. Trying to vent all the frustration and annoyance that had been aroused by his future wife. Adelia had been getting more and more sensitive during their wedding preparations. But this time it felt like she had really gone too far. Her jealous attitude was really strangling Lysander to the point of running out of patience. “Hah! Damn it!” Lysander exclaimed, grinding his teeth as he glanced at the woman who seemed to be silently observing him unleash his anger. His head felt like it was boiling. The pressure they had been under leading up to the wedding made them both vulnerable to falling into a cycle of rage. Adelia fell silent, knowing she had made her partner of three years extremely angry, evident from the way the muscles in Lysander’s face twitched and his rapid, deep breaths. “Fine! If that’s what you want! If you want to call it off, then go ahead! Jessica was right; you really aren’t fit to be my wife!” Lysander shouted, his emotions peaking. The words, which surely stabbed Adelia’s heart, slipped from his lips, clouding his judgment. He regretted it intensely just moments later. Lysander’s eyes widened. He felt like hitting himself upon realizing what he had said. It pained him to see a tear escape down Adelia’s cheek as she looked at him with a distant gaze. “Adelia…?” Lysander choked. What had he just said? An emotional fog clouded his rational thoughts. He had never once held Adelia’s ordinary background against her, especially given his own noble status. “Enough…!” Adelia’s hoarse voice came through, her breath heavy and difficult to swallow as the pain surged up her throat, choking her to the point of struggling to breathe normally. She shifted her position, turning her gaze to the fogged-up window. Lysander could see Adelia’s lips trembling. A thick sense of regret slapped him hard, leaving him battered. “Adelia, I...” Lysander reached out to grasp Adelia’s arm, seeing her desperately trying to hold back her tears. He knew she was deeply hurt by what he had just said. After all the time he spent trying to get close to her, despite her fears about their status differences, he had now said something like this. Adelia took a deep breath. The longer she held on, the more suffocating it felt. She could no longer bear the pain gnawing at her joints. She didn’t want to be in this place anymore, and with a swift motion, she opened the car door and stepped out into the rain, which felt like tiny cold needles piercing her trembling body. Once again, she didn’t know if it was the cold air or the pain inflicted by Lysander. Her warm tears mingled with the rainwater soaking part of her. “Adelia! Adelia!” Lysander shouted, but she didn’t respond at all. He was shocked by her actions. Outside, it was very dark and the weather was unwelcoming. But the woman continued walking. The headlights of the car allowed Lysander to see her retreating figure. The sound of the windshield wipers echoed in the car, further unsettling and worrying him. Reluctantly, he had to get out of the car, even though he hated getting wet from the rain. Lysander hurried to reach for her hand. He felt her delicate fingers were icy cold, trembling, and contracted. But when Adelia, soaked from the rain, looked at him, his heart ached once more. The woman he loved was suffering because of him. “Forgive me. This is all my fault. But believe me, Jessica and I didn’t do anything. We were just spending time together before our wedding. Jessica is my friend from before I met you, but you were so jealous of her that I had to lie to you. Trust me, Adelia, you are the only one I want to marry.” Lysander had no denial. This was indeed his fault. He hoped Adelia could forgive him this time. But it seemed it wouldn’t be that easy to soften her heart. It took five years for her to accept him before, and only five minutes to destroy everything. Adelia slowly pulled her hand away and forced a bitter smile. “I think we really need to reconsider this wedding plan.” “Adelia...” Lysander said softly, pleading as he tried to reach for her hand again, but she clearly indicated that she didn’t want to be touched. This made Lysander furrow his brow deeply. “You can go home. I’ll go home by myself,” Adelia refused in the coldest voice Lysander had ever heard. “But...!” “Just go home! Can’t you hear what I’m saying?! Just leave! You don’t belong here. Go!” Adelia yelled, breaking the silence of the night. The tears she had fought so hard to hold back finally burst forth, blending with the heavy rain that pounded the earth. Lysander stood silent, shocked by what he was seeing. The woman he loved was now crouched by the side of the road, which was rarely traveled by vehicles, hugging her trembling body. Adelia just couldn’t accept all of this. Hadn’t she said that she could handle anything except betrayal and lies? And Lysander had broken that promise just as they were about to get married. “Go! If you don’t leave, I’ll stay right here!” Adelia wiped her wet nose. Taking a breath mixed with rainwater made her head spin. Lysander didn’t want to leave her. He wanted to stay. But just as he took a step forward, Adelia snapped at him. “Leave!! Don’t you want to listen to me? Go with that friend of yours! She’s the one who deserves to be with you! Not me! Just go! I really don’t want to see you again!” Adelia screamed with all the anger she had, not wanting to hold it in any longer. She felt she would never be worthy of this man. “Fine! If that’s what you want.” Lysander clenched his fists tightly. He knew how stubborn his fiancée could be. Although anxiety gnawed at his heart, he felt helpless as his emotions surged back. Couldn’t Adelia accept his apology? Lysander quickly turned away, walking in frustrated strides back to his car. With a hardened expression, he watched the silhouette of the woman, slightly blurred by the heavy rain. With one pull of the gear shift, he pressed the gas pedal and made a swift U-turn, speeding away from the girl standing alone on the dimly lit road. Lysander clenched his jaw, trying to hold back his emotions. He squinted and glanced at the rearview mirror. But his eyes widened at what he saw behind him. A large vehicle lost control and veered off its path, sliding quickly and creating a deafening screech of metal against asphalt, swiftly sweeping towards Adelia, who was still standing there, facing him. The woman vanished into a cloud of smoke from the friction, mixed with rain, creating a fog that enveloped the night, plunging it back into silence.
