That boy is Mine

It was the end of the day on Wednesday. Matteo had basketball practice until late, but Liam was coming to have his usual tutor session. He walked to the edge of the basketball court and watched the practice take place. A teammate gestured, and Matteo came towards him. "It should be another hour, and then I can shower." "Yes, you know, I don't mind watching you practice." "Indeed" he gave his usual smirk that always carried hidden meaning. "Sit" he added and gestured to some seats in the higher levels. He went back to practice and I sat and read over the notes I had prepared for the lesson. After the practice ended, he gave me the keys to his car and went to the shower. He was usually quick, finishing in less than 15 minutes. "Let's go," he added, starting the car. We have been going to the same study hall since we started studying together. The study hall was located in a quiet area of town, built with added insulation to keep out distracting sounds. They went to their usual station and got to work on some questions Liam had prepared from their previous lessons. Matteo wasn't bad at the subjects he studied, but he didn't have a knack for the sciences. These subjects were Liam's strong points, and he enjoyed teaching Matteo. Two hours later, they took a break, and Liam went to the restroom. When he returned, he saw a girl talking to Matteo in the hallway. She handed him a letter, which he took, and then watched as she walked away. Liam felt a weird sensation in his chest, and when he walked up to Matteo, he said something that came across as demanding. "Who was that?" "Uh... her name was Eva?" "I didn't ask for her name. Are we going to study or are you picking up girls?" Liam snapped, walking away. Matteo didn't notice the smirk on his own face as Liam walked away. The letter was actually for Liam, and the girl was too shy to hand it to him herself. "I'm not the one with an admirer", he placed the letter on the table, and he sat beside me. "It's for me?!" Liam exclaimed, taking the letter but not opening it to read. "Aren't you going to read it?" Matteo asked. "No, we have to finish studying." I put the letter in my bag with the intention of reading it tonight. I didn't hear him say anything else and looked up at him. He had an unreadable look on his face as if he was far away. "What's wrong?" "Nothing, let's continue". They continued studying for another two hours, taking occasional 10-minute breaks between topics. It was around 10:30 PM when they finished and packed their bags. Matteo would take Liam home before heading home himself. When they arrived at Liam's house, a two-story townhouse that had been in his family since his grandparents passed it down to his dad, Liam said, "See you tomorrow." He intended to open the car door but found it locked. "See you tomorrow" I said, intending to open the car door but finding it locked. "Open the door" I said, looking back at Matteo. He was staring out the windscreen and had a serious look on his face. Liam looked to see what he was staring at, but there was nothing. "Hey!" I called and only after I shook his arm did he respond. "Liam, I am a bit tired. Could I sleep over tonight?" "Yeah ok" I said after a pause. It was not entirely unusual for Matteo to sleep over, but he usually does that when a new game or movie is released, and he wants to watch it with Liam.
