prologue : I'm Home
The rain had just stopped.
London shimmered beneath the evening lights, the wet streets reflecting the endless movement of the city. Tall buildings stood proudly against the dark sky, symbols of power, ambition, and success.
Among them stood a name that had once meant everything to one woman.
Harrington Holdings.
A black luxury car stopped across the street from the towering glass building.
The chauffeur stepped out and opened the rear door.
A woman emerged.
She looked elegant, confident, and completely in control.
She wore a long dark coat that moved gently with the evening breeze. Her appearance was calm, professional, and distant—the kind of presence that made people notice her without knowing why.
The chauffeur lowered his head.
"We have arrived, Miss Sterling."
She nodded.
"Thank you."
The car drove away, leaving her alone beneath the city lights.
For several moments, she simply stood there.
Looking.
Remembering.
The name on the building belonged to strangers now.
At least, that was what the world believed.
Her eyes moved across the letters engraved above the entrance.
HARRINGTON HOLDINGS.
A place where she had once belonged.
A place where laughter had once filled the halls.
A place where a little girl had dreamed of one day walking through those doors and making her parents proud.
Her fingers slowly tightened around the handle of her handbag.
Inside was everything she had carried from the life she lost.
She opened it carefully.
The first thing she touched was an old friendship bracelet.
The silver charm had lost some of its shine after years of being carried and protected.
But she still remembered the tiny hands that helped create it.
Two little girls.
Two promises.
A friendship that was supposed to last forever.
She placed the bracelet back inside.
Then her fingers touched something else.
A fountain pen.
She removed it gently.
The surface was marked by time, but the engraving remained clear.
"Write your own future."
A faint smile appeared on her lips.
A future.
That was what she had once believed she had.
She remembered the night she received it.
Her eighteenth birthday.
The happiest night of her life.
A night filled with music, laughter, and promises.
A night before everything disappeared.
She closed her eyes briefly.
The memories were still broken.
Fragments.
A car.
A terrible sound.
Darkness.
Then nothing.
But she remembered enough.
Enough to know that the story everyone believed was not the truth.
A deep breath escaped her.
She had spent years rebuilding herself.
Years learning how to survive.
Years becoming someone the world could not ignore.
She was no longer the young girl who vanished from the world.
She was Vivian Sterling now.
And she had returned.
A security guard leaving the building noticed her standing outside.
"Excuse me, Miss."
She turned.
"Are you waiting for someone?"
For a moment, she looked back at Harrington Holdings.
The place where her family's legacy had been taken.
The place where her story had begun.
Then she smiled.
A calm smile.
A controlled smile.
"No."
The guard waited.
Her voice was quiet.
"I've been waiting for years."
The guard looked confused, but before he could ask another question, the chauffeur returned.
"Miss Sterling."
She looked at the building one final time.
Her fingers closed around the pen.
Then she whispered softly:
"I'm home."
She entered the car.
As the vehicle disappeared into the London night, Harrington Holdings remained standing.
Unaware that the past they had buried had finally returned.
And this time...
It was coming for the truth.
