Isle arrived twenty minutes early than expected. She entered the Bistro with her head held high as she made her way to her usual table near the window. Lifting a finger, a waitress went to her with a menu in hand, although she didn’t bother herself to look at the menu.
“My usual order, please.” She politely uttered, the waitress nodded her head and went to the counter to process her orders, a few minutes later, and the same waitress came back with a cheesecake and caramel Frappuccino in her tray.
She languidly sips on her drink when Achlys Fontanilla entered the Bistro fifteen minutes early than the time she gave him, he combed his brunette hair with his fingers, and even though he is still far away from Isle, the latter could see that it’s still wet from the showers. His thick eyebrows defined his Spanish features to the brim, making him look like some kind of god. The last time Isle saw him was last week, yet it seems that he became taller and his bulky structure looked more firm and bigger. He is only wearing a black polo shirt, denim jeans and a black combat boots but he looks more dashing than before.
Usually, all her anger will melt like a block of ice in the middle of a scorching sun, just by his looks, but not now. Achlys wandered his eyes inside the restaurant, looking for her. He flashed Isle a smile when their gaze met.
Usually, just a smile from him and she’ll definitely forget what’s bothering her and smiles back at him, but not now. He walked near her and before he seat across to her, he planted a peck on her cheeks, as usual.
“You look so beautiful in the morning, milady.” He mumbled sweetly, causing Isle to roll her eyes but Achlys didn’t notice it.
“Why not kiss me in the lips, then, Achlys?” She uttered, eyes turning into angry slits. Achlys furrow his eyebrows when Isle grimaced; he rested his chin at the back of his hands.
“Is there something wrong?” Achlys asked worriedly, rage ignites in
Isle system. He is definitely worried that she might know how he betrayed her, she thought.
“What do you think, Achlys? Do you mind telling the truth to me?” Isle asked, controlling her voice so that they wouldn’t disturb the other customers.
“What do you mean?” he asked innocently, taking her frappe and took a sip in it. Isle stood up, her hand balled into fist as she fixed her things.
“Okay, it seems that we are done talking. Goodbye.” She said, but Achlys stopped her by holding her hand.
“We just got here, milady. We’re not done yet until you tell me your issues.” Achlys said, causing Isle to sigh exasperatedly.
“If you don’t want to tell me the truth, then it’s better if we just end this conversation.” She mumbled nonchalantly.
“What truth? Tell me, truth about what Isle?!” Achlys asked her, his voice rose a little due to frustration.
"About the kiss you and Vanessa shared last night at the Gala!” She snapped not realizing that they caught the attention of some of the customers near them. Isle felt her heart sank at the deepest part of the sea when she saw how Achlys’ eyes turned wide as if he was caught red handed, she shook her head as an unfathomable expression crossed her face.
“How’d-“
“You’re a full package bachelor! Of course it will make headlines in news. Especially that people are urging the both of you to become a thing! Well who wouldn’t? A bachelor engineer is made for a bachelorette engineer. It’s a match made from heavens!” she snarled, making hand gestures to prove a point. Achlys sighed causing Isle to get more irritated when she saw how he’s back in his disposition.
“She kissed me. I didn’t know someone took a photo of it. I think it's irrelevant to tel you all of this because I didn't insist that.” He nonchalantly uttered which caused Isle to feel her stomach churned.
“So you are not guilty at all? That if Vanessa or rather, someone kissed you and no one witnessed it, then it’s alright?” She cried, totally losing all her poise because of their conversation. Achlys sighed once again as he stood up, Achlys is a head taller than her even though she’s wearing a five inches pumps. He gently caressed her thumb as he looked at her tenderly afterwards.
“You know, this conversation is getting nowhere, let’s stop this nonsense and lets just go to the mall. I heard that the movie you’ve been waiting for months is finally released.” He uttered, a smile shone on his red kissable lips, causing his deep dimples to appear on both sides of his cheeks. But Isle had enough, she took her hand away from him as anger ignites deep within her.
“Stop it! I am not a five year old that you can bribe candies if seen doing inappropriate things! Stop treating me like a child that a single kiss on a bruise, then the pain will be gone! That soothing words and hugs can make the tears go away. Is that what I am to you all this time, Achlys?” She mumbled as her heart shattered into pieces yet her voice stood firmly.
Usually, every time he asks her to go watch some movies whenever they were having argumentations, she’ll eventually forget what they were arguing about and wouldn’t stay still as she thinks of what to wear for their movie date, but now she realizes that he’s just doing that so that she’ll shut up, making a big fool out of her. Isle let out a deep breath as she looked at Achlys directly in the eye.
“Achlys tell me… do you even love me?” she suddenly asked in a low squeak. She saw how Achlys’ lips gaped because of what she suddenly asked.
“Why are you talking like this all of a sudden?” Achlys asks.
“Why can’t you just answer me with yes or no? Why throw questions back at me when I’m the first one to ask?” She mumbled, she wanted to cry so much in front of him, but by doing so, it’s as if she admitted to herself that this is her lost and not his.
“Of course I do.”
“If you do, then why can’t you tell me? Why did you hesitate to answer in the first place?”
“Because this is too childish, you already know that even if I don’t tell you.” He uttered but Isle just shook her head midway his sentence.
“Stop, don’t bother explaining yourself to me. Now I know for sure that you are a massive liar. You don’t actually love me the way I do, ‘cause if you do, then you wouldn’t hesitate upon saying those three words that consist of eight letters. I need an assurance that you’re really in love with me, but guess what, Achlys. You lack words to express it, as well as your actions. You can’t even kiss me the way you kissed Vanessa last night. Who am I kidding? I’m just fooling myself with what our parents jokingly arranged to the both of us and you’re just bored to play with my little fantasy, but it’s all over now. I’m done fooling myself, I’m done with you, I’m letting you go, you’re free as I won’t even think of my foolishness anymore. Farewell, Achlys.” She stated, turning her back on him and left him dumbfounded.
