Bane of my existence

Chapter 12 - Bane

I broke out of my trance and with one last look at Luna, I retreated to where the rest of my pack was.

They were all hurdled together staring at something. I could immediately sense their anger. Even Tyler and the wolves that went with him were there. When they felt me approach, Tyler immediately came to my side and said,

“This is bad Alpha. It’s another wolf”

I didn’t respond and slowly walked over to the spot where the body of a fairly medium sized brown wolf lay. This time it was a boy named Daniel. He looked about the same age as Kat only he was a bit larger.  The wounds in his body were the exact replica of those in Kat’s body. There were lacerations all over his body that were made to look like bite marks except they weren’t. Every bone in his body was broken just like Kat’s was.

My jaw tightened as I looked at the body. I could feel my insides seething with anger, and I could sense that my pack felt the same way. They were as angry as I was over these killings. None of us really knew the victim personally but he was a member of the pack and every death was a personal loss to each of us.

“Take the body back to the pack house and inform the boy’s family. Let the medical team examine the body and then do what is necessary. In the mean time, see to it that the needs of his family is met with. Inform all the pack members to stay on high alert.”

“Tyler, you take 4 of our best men  and gather intel from the rival packs. I have a lot of enemies, so it is likely that any one of them may be behind all of this. Mind you, word about this should not spread, because a moment of weakness may make us vulnerable to enemy attacks. Send word if you find anything and I expect you not to return empty-handed.”

Tyler understood the gravity of the situation and silently nodded in agreement.

“The rest of you will return with me to the pack house. We’ll continue the hunt tomorrow.”
