Chapter 8- Bane

“Mate!!! I found my mate!!” I was repeatedly saying it in my head after Luna had gone home. I couldn't believe it. All this time she was right there. We were in the same city and it had taken us this long to meet. But now that I've met her i know there's nothing in this world I wouldn't do for her. She was beautiful and she was mine.

“Alpha?”

Sharon's voice interrupted my thoughts. I was irked but the look on her face told me this was serious. Sharon was one of my best hunters and my good friend. She was one of the strongest fighters in my pack. She was loyal and I would trust her with my life.

“What is it Sharon? Why do you look so concerned?”

“You've got to see it for yourself Alpha. We found a body of a wolf by the woods.”

Shit! I clenched my fist and my body became tensed. Something about this didn't feel right. My inner wolf was alert.

“Show me.”

Sharon led me to where they had found the body. The place was not far from my home. That made me angry. Who would dare to trespass into my territory and kill someone from my pack. This had never happened before. All the alphas of the American packs knew better than to mess with me. This has got to be someone from the outside.

The body was of a greyish-black she wolf. She was small in size. She must've been not more than 16. Her body was covered with open wounds that didn't look like bite marks. Her limbs were broken and it looked like she was tortured before being killed. I could feel her fear and rage within me. Who could do something so cruel to a child?

Kat that's what her name was. She was a sweet kid. Her parents were nice people. They always helped anyone that needed help. She was at the party tonight. I'd seen her. She was the only one who talked to me like I was her own brother. She didn't really fear me like the rest. I liked her. In fact I loved her. My wolf was angry and sad. He whined.

“Alpha. I think this was meant to be a message. “

“Who would dare to do something like this??????”

“ Take the body and inform her parents. Ask them if they know anything about what might have happened. And search the area. Look for anything that might seem suspicious. Gather everyone from the pack.”

Sharon carefully lifted the body and dashed away. I morphed into my wolf and began to run as fast as i could. I could smell the air but there was nothing peculiar about it. Everything was just the same except it wasn't. I searched deep into the woods but found nothing. I knew something was amiss but I couldn't seem to put my finger on it. After looking for more than 3 hours I went back.

Tyler came out the back and handed me a shirt.

“This is serious Bane. Kat was brutally murdered. Not only did they drain her blood but they broke every bone in her body to prevent her from turning back into a human. The whole pack is angry and scared. You've got to talk to them.”

As we entered , I could hear scared whispers all around. As soon as they saw me, silence fell upon them. All eyes were on me. I looked at them and I could see some of them were scared but most of them were angry. Kat's parents were seated on the couch. Her mother was sobbing profusely while her father just sat there numb from everything. Sharon was with them consoling her. I walked up to them.

“I'm sorry for what happened. I promise I'll find the one behind it Heather. I think you and Karl should stay here till we know it's safe out there. “

Heather looked at me and just nodded weakly while Karl didn't react. Kat was their only daughter. She was loved by all. Anyone who had known her knew she was a sweet child. But now she was gone. Murdered in the most brutal way. And we didn't know who was responsible.

I asked Sharon to take them into the spare room and make them comfortable.

After they'd gone inside I turned to my pack members.

“You all know by now what has happened. Kat was a great kid and she will be avenged. We will find the one behind it. There is no time to mourn. This is a time to find the one responsible and do the same to that person. We're the strongest pack in America and no one would dare to go against us unless they wish to die. We will grant their wish.”

I stopped and looked at the rage in the eyes of each one of my pack members. Black eyes , blue eyes, grey eyes, green eyes. They were all staring at me and nodded in agreement.

“ Go back to your homes. Grab what you need and come back here. You will all be staying here until we deem it safe. Stay alert . Anyone sees or hears anything suspicious you come to me. Nobody leaves until I tell you to. “

“Tyler gather all the hunters of the pack and get them ready. “

I had just found my mate but this was no time to revel in joy. Everything else can wait. Tonight we hunt.
