As I was walking through the throng of people, that sweet and intoxicating scent hit my nose. The moment it did, Hawk stirred inside my head. Ever since I came back and her smell hit my senses, I have been hooked on it. I found myself spending a lot more time on the Beta floor with Mason instead of my office. He questioned why and when I told him, I thought he would freak out. To my surprise, he was actually happy it was me who was mated with Kenz and not that other prick. He told me some of what happened, but I had a feeling there was more to it.

Kenz was stubborn and wanted to fight her own battles without our help. It all started when she was 12 and Brittany teased her for being weak. Ever since then, she has trained twice as hard, if not more, than any other. I admired that about her, along with how bubbly, caring, and loyal she was. While growing up, I always felt this attraction towards her, but thought it was just from her being younger and Mason and I always protecting her from everything. As I was trying to locate where she was at the party, I felt a hand on the back of my arm as it made its way to my biceps.

“Nicky.” I was brought from my thoughts by the sickly seductive voice she was trying to use on me. I could never stand her and ever since she turned 13, she has been trying to get into my pants, literally. “Why are you here?” I removed her hand, stepping back to put distance between the two of us.

“I wanted to support my bestie on her birthday and finding her mate.” She said so innocently. Since when were her and Kenz ‘besties’? That was news to me since they had a fight on the last day of school.

“I find that hard to believe.” I muttered as I stepped around her and scanned the crowd. I started to walk forward when she grabbed my arm.

“Where are you going? Dance with me?” She tugged my arm, trying to lead me to the dance floor.

“Mate needs us!” Hawk growled in my head.

“Where is she?” I growled back, scanning everywhere for her.

“East.” He said.

Pushing past Brittany, I made my way to the east end of the yard. The closer I got, the stronger her scent became. I knew she got her wolf this morning, but I haven’t seen her since she was locked away in her room with Elena all day. Turning the corner of the pack house, I saw red. There he was again, his hands all over her as she struggled to push him away. Before I could react, Hawk let out a ferocious growl that had him stiffen. When he turned, he had a s**t eating grin on his face. The moment he said Kenz claimed him and she rebutted, I mind linked Mason.

“Get to the east side of the house, NOW!” I barked through the link.

“What’s wro-“ He started before I cut him off.

“NOW!”

As soon as Kenz walked over and looked in my eyes, Hawk went crazy.

“Mate.” She almost whispered.

“Mate.” Hawk reciprocated before I had a chance to.

Taking her hand, I pulled her flush against my chest as I took a deep breath of her intoxicating scent. Her scent had me instantly hard and all I wanted to do was rip off that barely there dress and f**k her senseless against the wall. “I was invited.” The sleezy son of a b***h shrugged casually. “All Alpha, Beta, and Gammas were.” He added.

“Allied packs. How did you get an invite?”

“It arrived in the mail a week ago. Either way, I was invited, and I came to collect my Luna.” He smirked, eyes on Kenz the whole time he spoke.

“Stop calling me that!” Kenz shouted as she tried to move toward him, but I held her back.

“Nicky!” Brittany’s voice reached my ears and I cringed. She picked the worst time to join this little get-together. She walked over, wrapping her arms around my waist, not seeing Kenz right in front of me. I went stiff at the tension I felt rolling off Kenz.

“Get the f**k off him you b***h!” Kenz yelled as she spun around and punched Brittany right in the face.

“You f*****g w***e!” She grabbed her nose as blood ran down between her fingers. “You broke my nose!”

“Well, consider it an improvement to that messed-up face.”

Damn, I loved it when Kenz got like this. Seeing her so strong and independent made me hard. This was a new Kenz and I couldn’t wait to get to know her. She was a meek teenager when I left, yet now she was this strong, independent, and confident woman. I was so glad she was my mate, and I was so proud to call her that.

“You, you…” I was brought back when I heard Brittany quivering. I looked over and could see her shaking from anger.

“Me what?” Kenz raised her brow and took a step forward, challenging her.

“I’m gonna-“ She started but was cut off by her asshole of a brother.

“Brittany!” He roared. “You better not finish that!” He gave her a pointed look.

“It’s not fair!” She whined as she stomped her foot like a child. Yep, glad she was not my mate. Her behavior was cringe worthy. I rolled my eyes as she looked at her brother before stomping off.

“I suggest you all leave before I have you kicked out.” I clenched my jaw as I spoke. I watched as a silent conversation happened between him, his Beta and Gamma before they nodded and walked away.

“I’ll see you again soon sugar.” He directed toward Kenz, who rolled her eyes. He went to touch her when I stepped between them, giving him the death glare. He blew a kiss towards her before walking off.

“Leave it to them to ruin a good time.” Elena grumbled. I took deep breaths to steady myself before I turned back to face everyone.

“Take her back to the party. I need a moment with Kenz.” I said to Mason, who nodded.

I listened as Elena complained about being taken away before they faded into the crowd. I turned my gaze toward Kenz, who looked like a tasty little snack.

After Beck left, I sighed in relief. I was not expecting any of that to happen. I was thankful to Nico, but I really didn’t need him. Rose and I would be able to do it on our own. We have been doing it for the past three years. I looked up when I heard Elena complaining as Mason dragged her back to the crowded party. When I looked at Nico, his eyes were black as she stalked toward me.

“Mate is hot when possessive.” Rose drooled in my head.

Doing my best to push all her sinful images from my mind, I found myself walking backwards until I felt the cold brick against my back again. My chest was rising and falling at a fast pace as he closed the distance between the two of us, caging me against the wall.

“Nico.” I said, but it sounded like I was panting.

“Kenz.” His low and husky voice was doing things to my body I never thought possible. “Damn you smell divine.” He whispered as he leaned down and sniffed my neck. The gesture and the tingles sent a wave of pleasure through my body.

Before I could respond, he licked my neck where his mark would go. A moan left my lips as I wrapped my arms around his neck to steady myself. “I know.” Nico chuckled. “This isn’t over, not by a long shot.” he added while looking deep into my eyes.

I gulped as he put me down and I fixed my dress. As I walked in front of him after getting my bearings, he smacked my ass. I looked over my shoulder to see a grin on his face. I had a feeling this was going to be a very long night.
