Beckett
It was the morning of graduation and all I could do was pace my room. I was told that everything should be in place by now, yet Kenzie wasn’t showing any signs. I am half tempted to end that useless witch who said the spell she casted would work, but it’s hard when said witch was family. Yes, my mother was half witch on her mother’s side. My grandmother and great-grandmother were powerful witches who were mated to wolfs, Alpha’s to be exact. Now, you would think I was a warlock, a male witch, but I got everything from my father. In my mother’s line, only the females were half witch so that meant, Brittany, my younger sister, was half witch. She has yet to show signs of having powers, so only time will tell. As I kept pacing, my attention was brought to the corner of my room where a light lavender color appeared.
“Penny for your thoughts?” I heard my cousin, Trinity, say before she appeared before my eyes. Her mother was lucky enough to be paired with a warlock, so she was a full witch.
“Do you even need to ask?” I growled as I stopped pacing to look at her. “You said she would feel the pull and, so far, nothing has happened!” I raised my voice a bit.
“Give it time.” She looked at her nails as if nothing was wrong. “She could be fighting it. I did everything I could while she was with you but, I could only do so much after your f**k up.”
“You were the one who was supposed to suppress his urges. You know how thirsty Tate is for attention.” I rolled my eyes at the mention of my needed wolf.
“If you weren’t so slow, it could have been our Luna’s mouth wrapped around our d**k. I can only take so much teasing.” He voiced.
I snubbed him to the back of my mind, focusing back on Trinity. “I need to know when she will feel the pull and see me as her mate before her real mate comes along.”
“I’m hoping for today. Your distraction yesterday was enough for me to put another spell on her. There was some resistance from her wolf, but I believe it was enough for her to feel a pull toward you.”
“For your sake, I sure hope it is.” I grumbled as I walked to my closet. “I need to get ready for graduation. Stay close so you can keep an eye on everything.”
She mumbled under her breath before she disappeared from my room. I really hope she can pull this off. I NEED to have her by my side. If I can’t have her, no one else will either.

I was sitting in the crowd with everyone else as the ceremony took place. I made sure to sit where I could always see Kenzie. My eyes stayed locked on her when, suddenly, I saw her stiffen. She started looking all around until her eyes landed on me. By the look in her eyes I knew what she was feeling. I smirked as I saw her mouth move and knew what she was silently saying to herself. All I needed to do was wait until the party, get her alone, have to admit she was mine and claim her as my mate.
I arrived at the Blue River Pack before they made it back. I was walking around the backyard when Trinity popped up.
“Everything set?” I asked as I scanned the area.
“Did anything happen at the ceremony?”
“I believe so.”
“Get her alone, so we can finish this.”
I nodded just as Kenzie made her way to the yard with her annoying friend on her arm. Once she left, I made my move. I went up to Kenzie, taking her arm, so I could get her alone. Once alone, I didn’t leave much distance between us. I was hoping she would give in and submit to the bond, but I was wrong. She was her stubborn self and refused. What I was not expecting was for that prick, Nicholas, to come back early. He wasn’t due back until tomorrow, and I was hoping it would be too late by then. I was hoping to have her at my side by then. What didn’t surprise me was when he kicked me off his territory. Once I got in my car, I made the call.
“Now.” Was all I needed to say for my Beta, Andrew, to give the order. Just as I passed through the gates, I heard their alarms going off. I smirked to myself as I drove up the road a bit and waited.
Mackenzie
I made my way back to the party and found Elena talking with Peyton, my cousin. I walked over to them, joining in on their conversation.
“He what?!” They both exclaimed at the same time.
“He tried to say I was his Luna again.” I rolled my eyes. It was getting old by now. I knew I was not his Luna. Even Rose knew it. She said she was confused when she smelt our mate at graduation. She thought she smelt him, but it was faint, then went away.
“He’s delusional.” Peyton shook her head. “I never liked him.”
“Amen to that sista!” Elena added as they bumped fists.
I shook my head laughing when suddenly our alarms started going off and everyone was running.
“Mack! El!” I heard Mason and Erik yelling over the screaming people.
“What’s going on?” I began to panic slightly.
“Get to the bunkers with everyone else while we figure it out.” Erik ordered us as they led us to the house.
“Careful!” Elena added before they took off with our warriors.
We were all being led inside when suddenly I was pulled away from everyone and a hand went over my mouth. I tried to scream as I was being pulled further away from everyone else.
“Mack?!” I heard Elena shout over the loud voices of everyone. I looked to see her scanning the crowd for me. “Someone find Mackenzie!” she shouted, gaining the attention of our warriors just as I was taken out a side door.
“Don’t fight, and it will be easier for you.” I heard in my ear. I knew that voice, but I couldn’t place it.
Not listening to what they said, I drove my elbow up into their throat. They let me go instantly as we fell to the ground. I got up and started to run for my life. I didn’t have my wolf yet, so I couldn’t shift and fight. I kept running until I reached the tree line. I stopped by a tree, resting my hand on it to catch my breath. I stood there for a few minutes when I heard a twig snap. I looked over my shoulder to see a shadow coming closer towards me. I took off running again until I came to a clearing. As soon as I entered, I saw wolves emerging from all sides. I stopped, frozen as I watched them circle me.
“Just come quietly and nothing bad will happen.” One of the wolves who shifted had said.
“Like that will happen.” I spat, standing my ground. Just as he was about to approach me, more wolves entered the clearing, and I knew who they were instantly.
“You all have 30 seconds to leave before I end every one of your lives.” I heard Nico growl as he entered parallel to me.
“You’re outnumbered. Try us.” The one who was shifted retorted back.
“15 seconds.” Nico gritted.
“We’re not leaving without her.” He pointed at me.
“Fine.” I watched as Nico rolled his neck.
Just like that, he was shifted into Hawk, and everyone was in a battle for their lives. Growls and snarls filled the silent night air as I watched wolves attack wolves. Little by little, their numbers started to dwindle until there was one standing. The one who was shifted when I entered the clearing. Everyone shifted back as Nico, Mason, and Erik stood over his almost lifeless body.
“Take him to the cells. Keep him alive until I get down there.” Nico ordered with authority.
I watched as a few of our warriors picked him up and carried him away. I was standing there in shock until I felt a hand on my shoulder.
“Mack, you alright?” I looked up to see Mason inspecting me for injuries.
“I’m fine Mas.” I assured him as I looked to see if our men were alright.
“Let’s get you back. Mom and dad are worried about you.”
I nodded as I followed him from the clearing and back to the pack house. I still couldn’t help feeling something was missing. Rose started going crazy in my head again as an alluring smell met my senses. She was sure our mate was near, but she was not sure who it was. I was really hoping she would stop this nonsense and focus on what was happening. My main concern was, who attacked us and why?
