Episode 11 For some reason, we were all asked to stay silent and calm. We were many, but then some people were slaves who were captured from other countries. A man walked down from the arena into the pit; he stopped a few rows from the pit and stared at us from above. He looked at us with so much irritation in his eyes,i am mister edward.am her to put all of you in your place. "I'm sure some of you know why you are here. It's either you are a slave or you are a savage. Either way, you will all live a low and miserable life. There is only one way out of here. If you see anything unusual, anything magical, report it, and that way, you will be rewarded and become a full citizen of our mighty nation. And with that being said, you are all to do as you are asked. If you make a mistake, you die. If you help anyone hide something, you die. Either way, you still die." He was still talking when the king came to the arena. Zzzzzz, a sizzling sound blazed in my ear. "Shiva, keep your head down; he is here," the voices in my head said. And yes, something came - no, not something, someone came. Everyone seemed to be looking down, everyone seemed scared and shaking in fear, but for some reason, I wanted to look up. The voice in my head shouted and asked me not to look up. I don't know how, but I managed to silence them. I tried not to look, but it was too late. I looked up, and what I saw was something I can't explain - eyes burning with fire, skin steaming but shining like snow. He was floating in the air; for some reason, my heart was racing. "My king , Mister Edward went on his knees, welcome my king episode 12 He landed on the ground, some steps away from us. I took my eyes off him and looked down, and for some reason, my heart kept racing. It was as if I had committed a crime and was about to get caught. Everyone seemed to be shaking in fear, but mine was worse. What I was feeling was not fear; it was a mixture of terror and pain. I wanted to look at him so badly that my heart hurt. "My king, it's an honor to have you here today," Mister Edward said with a booming smile. I looked down at the disgusting old fool who was smiling at me, and I walked past him to look at the slaves. I flew up a little to get a better view, and I could hear their hearts racing. They all seemed terrified. I looked at all the males amongst them to see if there was anyone fit to be a prophecy, but the males were few, and they looked like leftover meat. I was about to fly away when I smelled something - someone. That smell was like blood and rain and earth. I looked at them one by one until I saw her. I walked past some of them, and I could hear them panicking in fear, but I was less concerned. I walked past them until I got to her. Surprisingly, her heartbeat was different; it was beating fast but in a rhythm, and in a particular pattern. "You, Silvia, were still in shock," I thought to myself. "The fact that the Fire King was in front of her made her feel like she was going to die today." She looked at me with tears almost dropping from her eyes. I saw myself in her eyes, and something felt wrong. I blasted up to the sky and flew home, not wanting to think about what had just happened. I fell to the ground as my shaking knees could no longer carry my body. Tears rushed from my eyes, and I felt like I had just escaped death somehow. episode 13 "Are you okay?" a young girl my age walked up to me and tried to help me stand. She looked at me worriedly. "I'm okay," I managed to stand up and thank her for helping me. "You can all go to your homes," Mister Edward said, "and I will be watching you." "I'm Nina," the girl said to me. "Hi, Nina. I'm Silvia. Nice to meet you, and thanks for helping me." "It's fine," she said with a smile. "If I were you, I probably would have fainted." She said this with horror vivid in her voice. I looked at her and smiled. "Well, I was just shocked by the fact that the king was in front of me," I said, trying to understand what really happened. We walked back home together, and I saw Felix waiting for me by the entrance of the village. He rushed to me. "How did it go?" I said nothing and stared at him. "Hi, I'm Nina," Felix looked at her and nodded. Nina explained to him what happened and told him I was still in shock. Felix thanked her and took me home. King Tregon lay on his bed, trying to understand what happened. The image of him seeing himself in her eyes kept popping up. He had shattered everything in his room out of anger because he knew very well what he felt when he saw himself, but now there was no way his heart would beat for a nobody. That was never going to happen. His mother walked into his room after the maid informed her that ever since he got back, he had been upset. "Son, Tregon, did not move. He opened his eyes lazily. "What do you want, Mother?" "What happened? Did you find something in the Pit, or perhaps someone?" his mother said with a hint of hope in her eyes. King Tregon got off his bed and walked to her. "No, Mum, I didn't." Now you can go, because that's all you care about. His mother looked at him disappointed. "Oh, then why are you upset?" she said, looking around the room that seemed a mess. He looked at her. "Do you care?" She looked at him. "Mmm, no, I don't." She said and walked out. King Tregon walked to the open glass-like door in his room. He looked down and could see the whole city. He knew what he felt - a feeling, a very Tagerian wish for it, called the bond, a knot tied from heaven, a feeling so powerful not even the gods can break it. Sometimes his ancestors had that, which enabled him to get the element of power (love). But it can't be. What I saw must have been out of pity, and because she was pretty. I think it's time I get married. episode 14 It's been a few months since I came to the Pit, and life here has been interesting. I still think about my mama and my little brother, but I'm trying my best to be happy here. Victor has been a great father, and Amanda has also been a good mother. I have a best friend, Nina, and we do almost everything together. Everybody here is pretty nice and friendly; everybody knows each other, and we're like one big family. But there's something called Sunna Day, a day when people from the palace come to take young girls from their homes to work in the palace. Surprisingly, every young girl in this village looks forward to that day. It's seen as an honor to be picked, as only beautiful girls are chosen. If you're lucky, you could get married to a guard or a worker in the palace, and then you don't have to live in the Pit. You could even become a mistress to a noble. All these are reasons why every grown girl waits for Sunna Day. Today is the festival night, where Mister Edward will come to inform the chief when they will be coming for the next selection. "Silvia," some old woman waved at me. I've become popular somehow, and everyone seems to love me, and I'm happy. "Shiva, look out!" I turned in time to hold the basket that nearly fell on me. "Oh, oh yes, before I forgot," the voice in my head said. According to them, they are my guidance. They said a lot of stuff about me being a special one, but I didn't understand it later. I realized that they were just fragments of my own imagination, so now we're best buddies. "Silvia...Silvia," I looked around and saw Nina. "Hey," I ran towards her. She looked at me angrily. "What kept you so long?" I smiled. "Sorry, Nina. Can we go now?" She dragged me. "Let's go; everyone is waiting."
