Chapter 19
Time passed as they moved carefully down the tunnel. It had, Castien thought, begun to widen somewhat and thus the path by the stream became less treacherous. They arrived at one of the numerous curves, this one much sharper than those they had passed previously. Lain held up one hand to warn the others to stay where they were before he cautiously stepped forward. Instantly his longbow was in his hands as he nocked an arrow against the string and shot. A squealed hiss echoed down the tunnel and then a second one when he shot again. As he readied yet another arrow he jumped back to narrowly avoid being hit by a stream of green liquid. One more shot and then there was silence.
