The Erased Past

Elias didn’t sleep. He sat on the edge of the bed, staring at the folded paper in his hands like it might suddenly change. They found the heir. The words didn’t make sense. At least… not yet. But the symbol beneath them was the real problem. The same strange mark from the intruder’s device. Cold. Ancient. Wrong. Elias traced it lightly with his finger. A sharp pulse hit his chest. He flinched and dropped the paper instantly. “What is this…” he whispered. The bond stirred. Not painfully this time. Just… aware. Like it recognized something. That made Elias even more uneasy. A soft knock came at the door. He immediately stood. “Who is it?” “Open the door.” Kael’s voice. Elias hesitated for half a second before unlocking it. The door opened. Kael stepped inside without waiting for permission. Of course he did. Behind him, Vivian followed, holding a tablet. Neither of them looked relaxed. That was never a good sign. Kael’s eyes immediately dropped to the paper on the bed. Then to Elias. “Where did you get that?” Elias frowned. “It was under the door.” Vivian’s expression changed instantly. She moved closer. “Show me.” Elias handed it over. The moment Vivian saw the symbol, her face tightened. “…This is real.” Kael’s voice lowered. “What is it?” Vivian swallowed. “A seal mark.” Elias blinked. “A what?” She didn’t answer him immediately. Instead, she turned to Kael. “This is not just a threat.” Kael’s jaw tightened. “Explain.” Vivian took a slow breath. “This symbol belongs to an organization that doesn’t officially exist.” Silence. Elias felt his stomach drop. Kael didn’t move. But the air in the room changed. Heavier. Colder. “Continue,” Kael said. Vivian nodded. “They erase people.” Elias frowned. “Erase people?” “As in… delete them from records. Birth certificates. Family history. Identity. Everything.” Elias’s heart skipped. “That’s impossible.” “It shouldn’t be,” Vivian said quietly. “But it happens.” Kael turned slightly toward Elias. His gaze sharpened. “Your records were already incomplete when I ran your file.” Elias stiffened. “What do you mean incomplete?” Kael didn’t hesitate. “You don’t exist properly in any system.” The words hit harder than expected. Elias laughed once. A short, disbelieving sound. “That’s ridiculous. I went to school. I had a life.” Vivian looked at him carefully. “What school?” Elias opened his mouth— Then stopped. His thoughts stalled. Names. Faces. Dates. Everything felt… blurred. Like trying to hold smoke. “I…” Nothing came. A strange pressure formed in his head. Kael noticed immediately. “Stop pushing him.” Vivian frowned. “I’m not—” “Stop.” His tone left no room for argument. Vivian went quiet. Elias pressed a hand to his temple. “That’s not normal,” he muttered. Kael’s eyes darkened. “No. It’s not.” Silence stretched again. Then Kael moved. He picked up his phone and made a call. One sentence. “Bring the sealed archive access.” Then he ended the call. Elias frowned. “What archive?” Kael looked at him. “The one that contains everything the world is not supposed to see.” That was not comforting. ⸻ Thirty minutes later, Kael’s private study had transformed. Multiple monitors were set up. Encrypted systems running. Vivian typing rapidly. Security teams outside the room on alert. Elias stood behind them, arms crossed. Watching. Waiting. Feeling completely out of place. Finally, Vivian spoke. “I’m in.” Kael stepped closer. “Search him.” She typed quickly. Elias Vale. Birth records. Hospital records. School records. Anything. For a few seconds, nothing happened. Then— A warning flashed across the screen. NO MATCH FOUND Vivian froze. “That’s… not possible.” She tried again. Different databases. Different systems. Same result. NO MATCH FOUND Elias felt his throat tighten. “No,” he whispered. “Keep looking.” Vivian hesitated. Kael leaned in slightly. “Try deeper.” She did. Seconds passed. Then the screen flickered. A hidden file appeared. Locked. Encrypted. Stamped with the same symbol. Elias stepped forward. “That mark again…” Vivian looked unsettled now. “This file is buried under government-level clearance.” Kael’s voice was low. “Open it.” “I can’t without—” “Open it.” She swallowed. Then entered a bypass code. The file opened. What appeared made the entire room go silent. A single document. One line. SUBJECT: EL-07 Elias blinked. “That’s not my name.” Kael didn’t respond. Vivian scrolled further. Another line appeared. STATUS: ERASED AT BIRTH Elias felt his knees weaken slightly. “…What does that mean?” Vivian didn’t look at him. She couldn’t. Kael spoke quietly. “It means someone removed you from existence the moment you were born.” Elias shook his head. “No. No, that’s impossible.” But his voice lacked conviction now. Because something inside him— Something deep— Was starting to agree. Vivian scrolled again. Then stopped. Her face went pale. “…There’s more.” Kael’s expression sharpened. “Say it.” She hesitated. Then turned the screen toward them. A final line appeared. And it changed everything. ORIGIN LINEAGE: ROYAL OMEGA BLOOD — SEALED THREAT CLASS ALPHA Silence. Absolute silence. Elias stared at the screen. Royal Omega. Threat class Alpha. His mind struggled to process it. “What… is that supposed to mean?” Kael didn’t answer immediately. When he finally did, his voice was quieter than before. “It means the intruder wasn’t lying.” Elias looked at him. “…About what?” Kael’s silver eyes darkened. “You’re not just an Omega.” A pause. Then— “You’re something they were willing to erase an entire existence to hide.” The room fell silent again. But this time— Elias felt it. Deep in his chest. The bond reacted. Strong. Sharp. Awakened. Like something inside him had finally been unlocked. And far away… Somewhere beyond the mansion walls… An alarm rang. Because the system that erased Elias Vale from existence… Had just detected his return. To be continued
