Chapter 13

It’s been a month now and work has been exhausting between fixing my place up with Jakes help and sitting in the lounge waiting for Jake to pick me up, 2 mins before he arrives, I hear a two hoots outside, locking the front door I make my way over to the car

"Morning Jake, how are you?" I ask as I close my door

"just peachy you?" is his short reply

"fine thanks excited to see my baby for the second time" I say looking out the side window as we drive passed the church, I should stop there making a metal note

Driving in silence no more words between us, we pull up at the Doctors Jake clears his throat "would you like me to come with you"

"No but thank you for offering you can head home I'll take the bus home I have to stop at the shop on the work"

He looks uncertain for a second "its fine Jake I'll be ok, see you at the diner" I say closing the door he watches me walk to the door as I close it he drives off

Waiting in the lounge is odd, I've never had to wait last time there is so many questions to answer on the questionnaire it’s a regular thing the nurse said then there's another page to fill out just as I hand in the paper work by the front desk an emergency came in a mom had a baby coming early and they only have one doctor on call which happens to be mine

While I am waiting, I can hear her screams "get it out get it out"

between sobs "this hurts so much" "I'm never having s*x again"

I giggle to myself is that going to be me mmm I wonder at least I will have Dom by my side in the ward...

"Miss Fischer" the nurse calls out

"I'm here" I raise my hand

"please follow me" she says

We walk to the bottom room I see how mommies hold their tiny little bundle of joys as their fathers kiss their wife’s heads holding on those tiny fingers, I cannot help that a tear slips down my cheek.

My mom and dad come to mind was that them when I was born did, they look at me like that with so much happiness and joy. I have not heard from them since that day

"Miss, miss are you alright" the nurse calls out I'm pulled from my thoughts as I wipe the tears away "yes ma'am just looking at the loving families with their babies" I say

I lay down on the cold bed as the nurse puts cold gel on my tummy, next my eyes are watching the screen as the room fills up with what sounds like horses galloping wild it’s the tiny heartbeat of my baby,

"May I, may I please record the sound I'd like to send it to his or her God mother" I ask

"normally we are not allowed to, but I'll make an exception I can see your alone in this, would you like me to print a photo for you" she asks

"yes, please ma'am I'd love that" I reply grabbing my phone and hitting the record button....

After a few minutes of been mesmerized by the sound and recording a video the nurse gentle slaps my leg bringing me back to the present "would you like to know the s*x miss" she asked

"no, it's doesn't look like it’s not in the correct position again I doubt we'll find out" I reply rubbing my leg.

"it appears your right miss" she says with a giggle in the end... She wipes the gel off and passes me the pictures she printed out.

On my way to work I send the recording to Dom along with a Pic of the Pic the nurse gave me....

Instant video call

"hey Dom"

"hey T aww I'm sorry I wasn't there with you, but I love the picture and the recording thank you"

"no prob Dom I can't wait for you to come up this weekend"

"OH s**t, I'm sorry I won't be up I need to help mom but I'll be up in a month won't want to miss spending time with you and my God child before it comes" she says has a huge grin on her face I look up at I'm already at work

"Dom I'm just got to work and then I'm on Shift I’ll try call later love you sis"

"love you to sis see you soon"

I felt a little sad but nothing better than client’s stories to cheer me up, they know how to make me laugh

Shift ended and I made 400 rand in tips alone ohm shopping tomorrow for baby clothes, I head home take a warm shower before bed...

I wake up feeling nauseous argh why oh why I place myself gently on the floor as I vomit up my stomach contents......

I brush my teeth and head to the kitchen nothing better than a chamomile tea.......

then try to sleep again

I woke up feeling like a new person I skipped shopping and moved everything back to the way it was Dom was not coming up any more.

Sitting by the table looking for admin jobs and sending my CV away I need to earn a bit more than what I actually currently get it won't cover everything I need for a new born baby even my boss Sam came over to help a bit she told me well basically insisted that I find a new job she once was a single mom too but she did say in my free time I can still help out in the diner

I reached for my phone as I hear it ringing

*Video call*

"Hi Dom, how are you" I say as I answer

"all good thanks sorry I can’t make it up, but mom wants to say hi" an instant smile reaches my face as Aunty Sally face comes up

"hello darling, how are you?"

"I'm good thanks Aunty Sally just missing you guys thou, Jake keeps me company now and again and Sam drops in a lot to makes sure I'm eating correctly, how are you?" I ask

"I'm good thanks house is quiet without you around how's the baby"

"its good won’t let us see what it is thou its stubborn it must take after Dom" I say... all you hear is laughter

"darn straight it takes after me" Dom shouts in the back ground

"it’s good seeing you my darling we will talk again just wanted to check up and see your face so I know you are doing well please visit soon and send some tummy pictures I would love to see how good your looking" aunty Sally says while a tear runs down my cheek wiping it

"I will aunty soon as I get time, I've been looking for permanent work my boss already said standing on my feet so much is bad for me as my feet swell a lot"

"Awe baby don't cry you are going to make me cry and I don't look so cute while crying" Aunty Sally says I had to giggle "Love you to Aunty Sally I'll hopefully see you soon"

"Love you to my darling child I'll call you later again I just got to the shops"

"Bye sis" I hear Dom shout in the back before the line goes dead

Wow being pregnant gives you theses mood swings... happy but sad to happy again

Oh did I tell you Dom bumped into Sean once but he never recognized her she wanted to tell him but I begged her not to but she had other plans as she ended our call she ran to find him but no luck

see everything happens for a reason....

looking at my emails I see I got two interviews - both for Monday afternoon I will have to ask to work an early shift....
