Chapter Five

707 Words
Michelle and Jazmine's flight arrived early. Even so... three cars had come early to pick the two of them up. They left the airport right away because Michelle didn't want to waste time — especially since she was already so worried about her older brothers, whom she still hadn't been able to talk to until now. "Damn, this traffic is bad. It's already 11:00 in the morning," Gerald said angrily. Mathew knew they wouldn't make it on time, so he just told Gerald to call his men who were on standby near the airport to pick up his wife-to-be. They'd sent over her photo so the men could recognize her — a photo Mark had given them the night at the casino. Fifteen minutes after leaving the airport, Michelle and Jazmine's car was suddenly surrounded by six other cars. They were confused but not scared. "Wow! What a wonderful welcome gift. Do you think it's from Uncle?" Jazmine said, amazed by what she saw. "No, I don't think Dad sent this. He has no reason to do something like this," Michelle said, watching the men get out of the surrounding cars. "He does have a reason — maybe he knows you came back to the Philippines without his permission," Jazmine said, then asked their driver if he had a gun. "But Dad would never do this. I know him. And put that f*****g gun away, Jaz. Remember my rules. There are a lot of innocent people here — I don't want anyone to get caught in the crossfire. Let's avoid hurting innocent people as much as possible," Michelle said gently, holding Jazmine's arm. "Fine. But don't stop me if they do something bad. But who the hell are these guys? I think they're professionals," Jazmine added. Suddenly, someone knocked on Michelle's car window. She opened it calmly. A man wearing sunglasses — tall, with a good build — stood there. "We're sorry if we startled you, ma'am. But the woman in this photo needs to come with us," the man said, showing them the picture they had. "That's me. What do you need from me?" Michelle asked calmly. The man refused to tell Michelle why they needed her and just repeated what he'd said first. "Just come with us," he said. "That's very rude of you. You want me to go with you without telling me why... and you didn't even introduce yourself. Do you know who I am?" Michelle said, opening the car door to get out. "I'm sorry for what I did. My name is Mayson. But I still can't tell you the reason you need to come with us," Mayson said. "And what if she doesn't come?" Jazmine said, holding the gun behind her back. "If you don't come, we'll have to use force. And you, little girl... you have a gun. But don't make a mistake and pull it out — you might not make it out of where you're standing. Oh, and I'm Diego, by the way," Diego said, signaling to the others to point their guns at Jazmine and Michelle. "f**k!" Jazmine cursed in surprise. She was now more certain these weren't ordinary people. I can escape from here. I can kill them... but there are so many people around. If I fight back, I can't be sure no one will get hurt. I have no choice — I'll go with them and escape later.... Michelle thought to herself. "I'll go with you. Put the guns down. There are too many people here — the trigger might slip and hit an innocent person," Michelle said. "Hey, why are you going with them?" Jazmine whispered, holding Michelle's arm. Michelle smiled sweetly at Jazmine and said: "It's okay, Jaz. I'll be fine... I promise," Michelle said. "You know what I'm capable of," she winked at her and waved goodbye. "That's the Michelle I know — she didn't even blink when that f*****g man pointed a gun at us. I know she'll be fine, but I'm still scared. She's human, not a superhuman," Jazmine thought to herself. Michelle got into the car with Diego and Mayson. As they drove to their destination, Gerald suddenly called Mayson to check if they'd carried out his order.
