Next morning a weary Maeve reflected that no matter how great the drama in the O’Donnell household, the work that put bread on the table still had to be faced. She had left the house with a promise from Kate - who seemed excepted from the demands of the tobacco factory that morning - that she would meet and speak with Mark Harris. What the outcome might be Maeve was too tired to contemplate. Some of her weariness fled when she saw the state of the Fraser children.
