Chapter 41

Ryoka could see the different expressions on the people’s faces, disappointment, sadness, shock, and the look of devastation was the most common, the likes of Arcturus had that expression on as they saw the developed 3D model of the facility, before they all felt the mission at most would be very difficult but with here knowledge as she had said it would still work, but now they all felt the mission was just impossible plain and simple. The facility was large and high as well about twelve stories high and each floor wide and high enough for a small dragon, that wasn’t the bad part, the bad part started from the fact that the facility backed up and rested on a huge mountain whose top was treacherous, and to the two angled sides on one side of the building was the ocean, only on the other side was there a dirt road that led to the facility, and according to Ryoka, the road was a no man’s land that no one dares try to pass through without being given the permission to. Ryoka spoilt their mood some more when she told them that from her visions the safest way in was by means of helicopter, because there was an helipad jutting out on the fifth and tenth floor in different directions though, and those were the only way in, but then she also made them understand that there were high powered and high caliber turrets jutting out from all the floors and so any unsanctioned and unverified flying object would be torn to pieces by their continuous barrage of bullets made specially for killing dragons with the toughest of scales. “But!” Ryoka said after she had intentionally gotten them devastated enough, she needed them to see the high risk of the mission and for them to know there was no turning back once they embark on the mission because not all of them might even make it back as well, one other thing she didn’t tell them was that some would definitely need to sacrifice themselves for the sake of the success of the mission, if they were to escape, that was the only way. “But, there is just one other way in, something they would never consider could be done by anyone, but because we are desperate, we are going to do it, and it is from her that the mission starts to get treacherous already” Ryoka said and pointed to a side of the building that edged into the ocean. “There, by that side of the building is the service area and what comes out of that place and into the ocean are the wastes and sewage of the whole facility, the steel pipe that brings all those out is wide enough for two people to crawl on all fours in it side by side, but as the pipe goes inwards, it gets slimmer such that only one person would be convenient to crawl in it and then going on along that person would have to belly crawl before getting to the point where we can use as an entry point into the facility” Ryoka supplied, the details although were kind of gruesome, but then the expression on their faces softened a bit at finally getting a way in. “There are just two problems with that entry point” Ryoka added yet again. “Just two? You mean two more, cos it sounded like dozens of problems already” Adrian just had to say, “uhm uhm, sorry, please continue” he said after seeing the look most present gave him, apparently they weren’t finding it funny, but then he was right wasn’t he. “So there are two more problems with this entry point” Ryoka adjusted for the sake of her friend, she knows he means well “First is the metal grate that covers the exit point of the pipe, it is inches thick and would have to be melted, we can’t risk anything that would make noise even though it’ll get drowned out by the ocean noises, so we’d have to melt it with dragon fire, for that, in this mission we’d need those who are known to have the hottest fires” she said mentally putting herself first on that list. “The other thing is that, the waste and sewage that pumps out of the pipe, is always at boiling point, always insanely hot, and seeing as we would be in our human forms during the crawl in, it would literally be as crawling through hell” Ryoka said “So for this mission those with the most endurance because on an average it would take us all each about ten to fifteen minutes to crawl from the entry point of the pipe to the entry point into the facility, so that’s about fifteen minutes of hell to go through” she added. There was silence for a while, Ryoka judged the silence and found it to be not of backing out but of steeling their resolves, she knew that matter what there would be those that would be able to go for the mission and agree to it, still she was surprised to find everyone still ready to go even at this point. “Two things l would like to know at this point is, how do we get to this facility and then where is the entry point from the pipe into the facility, where does that take us?” Caleb asked speaking indeed like a soldier, but seeing as he didn’t ask of the extraction yet, she respected him even more, this should mean he wanted her to get to that point on her own. “Maybe we fly over the mountains?” Arcturus asked with a hand to his chin as if in deep thoughts, Ryoka shook her head, she really didn’t see why some nobles would be kind of dumb. “No, there are only more mountains before that and it ends to the ocean as well making that a doubly perilous journey, we move by means of a ship on the ocean side till we are a couple hundred kilometers away, we have to be very far from the place lest their sonar sensors detects us, from that point we would take to the air and fly way up into the clouds not daring to be visible till we reach the mountain side, we touch down gently here in human form” Ryoka said pointing to a particular side of the mountain that seemed to have a bit of a ledge, “This means whilst in the air we would have to transform back into our human form and fall till we land on this ledge, it isn’t such a great height and distance and it’s very possible, one of the things we’d train ourselves on all through the drills” she said to them. Then she traced her finger from the landing point on the mountain to the waste disposal pipe, “By means of mountain climbing, we’d get to the pipe, all this is necessary so as to avoid early detection, once we are detected before getting inside, the mission is finished so we can’t risk getting detected, the entry point into the facility from the pipe, like I earlier said is a service area on the fourth floor, from here we’ll take the corridors straight in two teams, elevator shaft team and stairs team because we have to get to the seventh floor, which is where the entrance to the dragon queen’s lair is, this is because she is being held in a built-in cave inside the mountain that the facility rests its back on” Ryoka explained. “So right as we enter, the fighting starts till we get to the queen herself?” Arcturus asked still trying to look wise with his hands to his chin as if in great thoughts. “No, right as we enter, we tap into the service panels and throw them into a state of confusion by causing a black out, then the fighting starts, the blackout serves two purposes, the first is to keep them confused and not know our movements since they wouldn’t be able to see us via the cams neither would they detect us via the motion sensors, this is why there has to be two teams after, because they would have to track us through the noise, so whoever encounters battle first would be a decoy and distraction for the other team” Ryoka explained. “I see, this is why you said the elevator shaft team, there won’t be power so the elevators won’t work and we’d have to go through the shaft” Caleb noted, it was at that point that Ryoka also discovered something, hierarchy was already in play here since, Caleb is the highest ranking amongst the dn mutants, that is why it seems he is the one speaking for them all even though there are about four groups in total from the dn mutants meaning four representatives including Caleb himself, same thing with the Eldrians, out of the five groups and five representatives to include Arcturus, he was the one on top by hierarchy, and such a smooth transition too. After a few more hours of some more deliberation and fine tuning, the meeting ended again for that day, which was day two of the training and preparations. * The corridor to Ryoka’s room was littered with Adrian and his siblings, they had left the meeting earlier whilst Ryoka attended to some other matters, a few nights ago after the rescue missions, they had pushed her up as the obvious leader of the revolution and had promised their full and unwavering support and loyalty. “Hey guys, thank you so much” Ryoka said to them with an almost cracking voice as she met them and hugged them one after the other filled with emotions, just two nights ago they had all sat in her room made this plan they gave to the council after she really tried in the best possible way to describe the facility to them since there wasn’t a 3D model to work with at the time. “C’mon sis” Adrian said “We told you we’ve got your back didn’t we” he added then winked at her, they had a very few moments of light talk and then all dispersed to their various rooms to rest, the next day was the day the physical training would start. After a short while, there was a knock on Ryoka’s door, she opened it to let Letty in, then they just stood there for a few moments after she locked the door, looking at each other, then they closed the distance between them and started to kiss.
