Chapter 42

“You’re awake, aren’t you?” Letty asked Ryoka who slept beside her, they had a blissful romance all through the night and stopped at about midnight, it’s still a few hours till daybreak but she hadn’t really gotten much sleep thanks to the recent unfolding events.

“Yeah, can’t seem to fall asleep, I mean I slept after we… but I doubt that it lasted an hour, what bout you? Can’t sleep too?” Ryoka responded to her new found romance, they had started since that night of the liberation missions, both of them had been overly worried about each other subconsciously all through the mission, they came to the agreement that it would be a shame and a thing of great regret if they never gave it a try to see if it would work out between them, especially because either one or both of them might die at any time thanks to the dangerous activities they are currently engaged in, besides even if none died it was then that the regret would be even more.

“Uhm uhn, I slept for a few right after as well, but I woke as well probably due to your occasional shuffling about the bed” Letty answered, truth be told she was the happiest in this relationship, it is ger first after all, she had discovered herself for a while though, but seeing as there was no one else around but her siblings, she had locked up and decided to remain independent relationship-wise, that was until she first laid her eyes on Ryoka, due to the circumstances around her arrival she had been able to cover up her apparent falling for Ryoka, she had even decided not to act on it, that was till she noted that the feeling was reciprocated after all.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to disturb your sleep” Ryoka said and heaved a gentle sigh, she was worried about a lot of things, especially about the dragon queen they were about to go rescue, her worries increased tenfold when she didn’t have any dreams for that hour that she was able to sleep for.

Letty drew closer to her and held her in a spooning position, for a few seconds they stayed silent in each other’s embrace, “I know you must be really worried by now, seeing as there is so much on your shoulders; the revolution, it’s missions, the people, their needs, but let me tell you, you are already growing into your role as the future queen and all these is just training wheels for when you do actually become the queen you are meant to be, I’ll have you know as well that no one else can lead this revolution successfully, the survival of our race all depends on you, no one else can take that charge because you are the one that has been chosen and ordained to do it, I don’t see Arc or Caleb or Adrian or myself doing it successfully, only you” Letty said softly and reassuringly into Ryoka’s ears.

“Well it should be you, your strategies are what we are using, I haven’t seen anyone that can match with your battle strategies and knowledge and maybe even skills, see how you came up this plan in such a short time” Ryoka said acknowledging Letty’s brain power for battle and maybe even war, she should be a goddess.

“Well that only makes me a general, at most maybe a commander, definitely not a queen, you are an intended queen, so says your abilities and gifts and skills, I’m not scared or worried though, I’m confident in your abilities, I know you’ll pull through, pull us all through” Letty said.

‘Maybe not all though' Ryoka thought to herself, “Speaking of said ability, I have no clue as to how I’m going to activate draugh fuh, we are going to really need it y’know, and we might most probably fail if I don’t get the hang of it and soon” Ryoka said and heaved another gentle sigh.

“Hmm, I think I might have a few ideas on that, there are some things we learnt from our mother as dn mutants when we started training with her, she is a dn mutant as well after all, she couldn’t teach these things to Adrian because he couldn’t use the techniques seeing as he was different from us as regarding the generation we fall under, but then, I know you don’t have that limitation, you can use our techniques, so I’ll teach them to you so that you can use them whenever you need it and who knows, just maybe it can help train your draugh fuh as well” Letty said getting excited.

“Oh wow, ok then, that’ll be great, that’s El, you’re really awesome, you know that right?” Ryoka replied, then Letty turned her about so they’d face each other.

“For you Ryu, I’ll be anything” Letty responded and they drew in for a soft passionate kiss.

By the fifth day of the training and preparations, all was almost set, the routines had been rehearsed and almost perfected, everyone knew their roles already and there was no questions left to ask, well for most people that volunteered for the mission and those that were finally chosen, all twenty seven of them, divided into various roles where one person might have more than one role to play, for instance, the only volcanis that they had on the mission with them, Darius -also a noble albeit very young- had two roles to play, he’d work with Ryoka and Arcturus in melting down the grate for entry and then, leading the way in with Letty and Marcus -the only diamond-back they had with them as well, also very young, about Adrian’s siblings age- upon entry, Darius will be responsible for causing the meltdown of the internal systems of the facility, Ryoka actually got to witness Darius breathing the fabled lava flames of the volcanis breed, it was an awesome yet frightening sight to behold.

The various teams set in place included; the transportation team, they are five in number and are responsible for the transportation to and from the location, the driving and the sailing, Adrian from his well of knowledge about the previous revolution had informed them of a mini ship that was once used by the revolution and they had found it, so all was set for the transportation team.

Next was the tactical team, they would be handling the navigations and accessibility in the facility, they are also the ones that would ensure safe movement and extraction of the dragon queen once she had been saved, there was also the battle team, these people would be responsible for any and all fights, attack and defense, they have the most numbers as it is expected that they would have the most work to do and the success of the mission also depends on the success of the battle team.

Another team is the backup team, they would remain in the air above the clouds all through the mission, ready to swoop down and assist whenever and wherever they are needed and called to, the last team is the cover team, these few individuals would be responsible for making sure the other teams all escape safely after the mission without the threat of being followed, theirs is to cut off any and all forms of reciprocation by the WIC, the team was led by Caleb himself and he as well hand picked the other six people after seeing them in action during training, although he knew most of those he picked beforehand.

Ryoka sat in a meditative posture on a platform above the training grounds, this was her second day of trying the ability maximizing technique that Letty had taught to her, of course Letty was there with her right now as well, also meditating beside her and giving the occasional advice and directions to Ryoka.

“Breathe in, breathe not just with your nose but with every pore on your body” Letty said softly, “Reach within you with your mind, find that which you seek and grab a firm hold of it, once you’re able to do that, let out your breath slowly” she said and waited a bit for confirmation on whether Ryoka is getting the hang of it this time, they hadn’t gotten past this point ever since the had been trying the technique.

Letty opened her eyes when she didn’t hear the usual complaint of ‘not getting it’ come from Ryoka, she saw that Ryoka was actually really in deep this time around and she started to hope and expect that the technique would work this time around, just on cue, Ryoka let out her breath slowly, and it came out a a steaming vapor hissing its way through the air.

“Now! Make the seal!” Letty said in a hushed exclamation, at last it really was working after all, then, Ryoka clasped her hands together and made the dimension hand seal, a silent shockwave followed the action and everyone in the building felt it pass through them.

In Ryoka’s mind, she found herself in a dark place, a very large place that seemed depthless, she heard a voice, it was Letty’s, then she heard the other voices on the training field, then she heard some other voices coming in from the building, this continued till she could hear and feel everyone in the whole place.

‘This must be the plane that draugh fuh bearers use to communicate with each other, this is my own plane’ Ryoka thought to herself, ‘But then should I be able to hear the others? They aren’t draugh fuh users so it shouldn’t be possible to call them up into the plane, unless this was what Elouise the mother meant when she said I could bring in the others like Adrian in the link’ she kept thinking.

Then she acted and pulled in the closest person to her, just to see if it’ll work, and work it did, Letty’s frame shone as it appeared in the plane as gathering little lights, “Whah? Where? Ryoka? Is that you?” Letty said as she was at furst confused and then gradually got over her confusion.

“I did it El, welcome to draugh fuh” Ryoka said to Letty and all she could do at first was gape in awe as she looked the plane over.

“Well, what does it do? I mean apart from split me into two because I am very much aware out there, I can see everyone out on the training field if I choose to and even still talk! Wow, it’s feel S like it’s just a part of my mind that is here whilst my remaining self it still conscious and out there” Letty said in surprised and amazed realization.

“Well, it is meant to call just a part of your mind that is here, the paet of your mind that will never disobey whatever it us told, that is the work of draugh fuh, before it doesn’t really use a medium such as this, it was activated just by voice but now there is this as well” Ryoka responded.

“Whoa, so you mean to say that anything you tell me to do here, I will do out there without ability to say no” Letty asked with mixed feelings of excitement and dread at the same time.

“Yes, but I would never do that to you, I would never make you do things by giving you no choice but to do so, I’d never use draugh fuh on you that way” Ryoka said.

Letty smiled sadly though, “Don’t say never, you might have to one day, either to save my life or to save another, but then this is an awesome ability, c’mon use it, bring others in, let’s see what it can do” she said to Ryoka.

Ryoka only smiled at the childish glee of Letty at that moment as she swapped from being sad to being absolutely cheerful.

“Alright, calling in the hoard, it’s time for our revolution!” Ryoka said and activated draugh fuh.
