Reunion Part 3

“You did what?!” Adrian asked again, this time he was in a goofy or playful mood, he was in a serious and tethering anger mode, he folded his arms across his chest and had a stern look, he started to think if she had even known all this while and only decided to tell them now because her father was here and the deed might be exposed.

“What are you really saying? C’mon say something” Hugh started to say but was cut short by Dante who had also become serious faced.

“Let her speak” Dante said and he dipped his hands in his pocket, Ryoka recognized that action as that of when he was about to get serious, he dips his hands in his pocket whenever he was about to say something serious to her or whenever what she was saying to him required him to get serious with her.

“Uhm, I didn’t know anything at the time” Ryoka started her explanation, “I was still in training with Damien and I had discovered that we were being tailed, Damien instructed me to use deadly force to attack the intruder whenever I could, he said it was the WIC and they were doing that to tag me and eventually they would come for me since they knew where I was thanks to the tag, I only did as he instructed” she said already tearing up as she explained to them.

She told them of how she had been the first to actually note that there was someone after them and how even till the point that she attacked her, Damien couldn’t detect her presence at all, at the point, Letty came in and told them of how Dai had a special cloaking technique that masks her presence from people, explaining how Dai had tried to teach it to her, Dante confirmed this input from Letty when he also told them of how on every mission they went together, Dai was always the one at the forefront especially for infiltrations just because of that very self trained ability.

Ryoka went on to explain how she saw Dai’s eyes after attacking her and thinking it was a lot like her father’s and that stopped her from delivering a death blow which made Damien rage at her because of that, “That was how I connected the dots when, you told me that the person you sent for me had in fact been your sister who happened to be Adrian’s mom and who also went missing around that same time frame, I’m really sorry, I didn’t mean to, I really was clueless about the whole ordeal please, don’t hold it against me, I’ll accept any judgement and punishment you all deem fit for what I’ve done” Ryoka said and wept on still, her tears couldn’t be stopped now.

Adrian actually cooled down a lot after hearing how it really went down, then he got angry once again, but this time not at Ryoka, he slammed his fist on the wall next to him enough to c***k the wall “Just wait till I get my hands on that lizard Damien, I’ll snuff the life out of him, for making you do that and for what was done, the fault is not yours, stop crucifying yourself, besides, no death blow delivered, just a fatal blow uhn, c’mon, Mom has survived far worse than that, ain’t that the truth Uncle?” Adrian said and tried for a half smile which came out awkward, his anger was dampening and overshadowing everything with him at the moment.

Dante came forward and hugged his daughter to himself, “C’mon baby girl, your Aunt is actually a whole lot tougher than that, I’m sure she is somewhere right now toughing out” he said to Ryoka as he tried to placate her, Letty also came to join the hug at that point and then one by one the whole family was in a group hug, shedding a few tears as they held each other close and tight.

“But if she really is alive, where could she be, after all these while?” Ryoka asked into the hug but no one could reply her, because no one knows, no one knows if she was even truly alive.

Dai opened her eyes again, the fever had subsided, Maybe she could still make the flight again for a few clicks, a few more kilometers and she’d be there. She just needed to stay strong, and endure some more, yes, just a little more and she be where she can be saved, but then she drifted off and fell unconscious again.

“She is getting better, her vitals are showing impressive improvements” a voice said, the voice sounded hazy and far away, but somehow, Dai knew they were talking about her, but what had happened to her? Wasn’t she supposed to be flying somewhere or towards someone? These thoughts kept coming in a loop all around her head, she fought to wake up, she fought to become conscious of her surroundings, to know those that are talking, and again what was wrong with her?

“Hmmm, you can’t say that just yet, she is doing well physically, but her mental state is off, both has to be in sync if she is going to make it, if she’s going to pull through, she has to fight, or else I fear she’d never make it” another voice said, it was a softer voice, ladylike, wait, did she just say she needed to fight to pull through? but she had been fighting, she wanted nothing more than to wake up, Dai kept thinking, her mind was a whole maze of thoughts, she kept running through it so as to figure out what exactly is wrong with her and why she couldn’t get herself to just wake up, what if she never wakes up like the voice said, but then again, the lull of deeper unconsciousness called and she fell in an even deeper sleep.

“Are you awake?” a lady’s voice asked Dai, slowly she opened her eyes and this time they actually opened, the dull light flitting in hurt her eyes and came with the whiplash headache of remembering everything that had happened previously to her, but she had no clue as to what was going on with her at the moment, seeing the lady who was smiling down at her, she tried to rush up in a sitting position, but all strength had abandoned her and all she was able to do was squirm a bit.

“Hey, hey, none of that, you only just recovering, try to stay still and let the healing process complete itself, honestly we had our doubts that you’d ever come out of it, but then, seems you’re a fighter” The lady said, a man walked in at that point and also had a white lab coat like the lady’s on him, Dai’s first thought was that she had been captured by the WIC, those white wearing jerks, she hated wearing white all the while she worked for them, but this wasn’t them, especially because of how shabby the whole place looked as well, and then taking a look around and another look at the two people before her, there was no way they could even be remotely related to the WIC.

Dai remembered up till the point where she shifted and flew off after being attacked by her niece, but then, it wasn’t her fault, he was under his control, that revenge seeking lizard eyed pampered boy called Damien, that reminds her, she has to get back on her mission and find a way to save Ryoka from him, but what had happened after and how did she get to he in the care of two humans?

“What happened? How did I get here, and where is here?” Dai asked coarsely, she had a dry throat and it made her voice raspy, the lady brought her some water in a glass cup and she gulped it all in hungrily, she had been very thirsty, dehydrated even.

“Well, we don’t know what happened to you before you got here that gave you such gaping gash” the man said and Dai subconsciously traced the gash that ran from her neck in a slant pattern to just under her ribs, and the other ran from just above her bellybutton to the small of her back, that was the result of shifting into a dragon with a fresh open wound.

“Yeah but then” the lady continue for her partner, “When you got here, you fell from the sky, literally, you landed in the farmyard across the road, thankfully I was out and saw the whole thing, so I called my husband and we brought you in to take care of you, and try to nurse you back to health, if ye hadn’t seen you tat very day though he wouldn’t have believed what I always said that dragons exist” she said.

Dai choked on the newly acquired wetness in her throat as she heard that, wait did they mean to say that she fell as a dragon and they saw her? “Hey, don’t worry, your secret is safe with us, that is why we shut down this underground clinic so we can focus on saving you alone, you are lucky that it was doctors that got to you first, had it been any other person you wouldn’t you survived the coma” the lady said again.

“What?! So you mean that I haven’t just been unconscious? But rather in a coma? Please for how long was I in the coma?” Dai asked scared of the answer already.

“Give or take two months and just a little above a week” the man replied confidently.

Dai put her hands over her mouth and started to weep, she had failed in her mission to save Ryoka from the WIC, they must have had her already by now after brainwashing her, now there was no way to rescue her and keep her away from the WIC as she had promised her brother she would do.
