Chapter 56

“Explain this now!” Dante said and whirled on Charlie, holding him up by the coat while Letty grabbed a hold of Sarah’s hands and brought them behind her thereby holding her in place like she caught a criminal.

“No, no, no, please she has nothing to do with this, I swear it’s just me” Charlie pleaded with the family when he heard Sarah’s yelp of pain from how Letty held her, he was quaking even as Dante held him and all he could do was hold Dante’s arms to better hoist himself so as to be comfortable.

“I said explain! What is the meaning of this right here” Dante repeated angrily, everyone in the room wanted a piece of the couple doctor, it was only the grace of Dante and Letty that shielded them from the beatings they might have received by now.

“Leave them alone” a new voice said, the voice was weak but beautiful and a bit hoarse, it was the dragon queen’s and everyone turned in surprise to see her sitting up on the bed, how she had unstrapped herself was as well a mystery, everyone bowed down immediately to her.

“Allow him to speak” the dragon queen said again in her sweetly hoarse voice, then to Charlie she said “You, go ahead and speak now, tell them of your betrayal” she said then relaxed slightly backwards on the bed, Arcturus ran to her to help her hoist the bed up to meet her resting pose, she smiled sweetly at him as he did and slightly touch his cheek, even as Ryoka watched, she saw the dragon queen’s eyes glaze over as she fell once more into her catatonic state, Ryoka knew right then that the queen had used the last of her strength and slightly repaired mind to come around to quell the unrest that issued, otherwise, well, Charlie might have died in the hands of these WIC haters before he could even get the chance to say anything.

“I aam sorry, I really am but I guessed this would have been the reaction I would have gotten from the lot of you if I had told you I was in any way involved with the WIC” Charlie said, he truly looked remorseful, but no one was buying it yet.

“What are you saying dear? You knew about all these before now, dragons and every other thing involved, everything we are just learning about, you knew before now?” Sarah asked she was still rubbing her wrists and massaging her shoulders from her encounter with Letty.

“I’m sorry darling, I really wish I could have at least told you about them, how you do fantasize about them and how you couldn’t be convinced otherwise that they were real, well it was all caused by MAGE here, but before I get to that let me explain my involvement with the WIC” Charlie said, he was looking around but could not meet anyone’s eyes, especially Ryoka’s who had cone to him privately to talk sincerely with him, even then he couldn’t have been honest with her because she as well harbored much hate for the cooperation.

“My father is the main brains behind the machine technology that mimicked the frost technology of the dragon continent and resulted in the freezing over of the continent” Charlie said and at that moment the menace emanating from everyone in the room towards him multiplied ten fold, after all he had just told them he was directly related to the person responsible for almost ending their entire race.

“Please listen to me first” Charlie said when Arcturus wanted to immediately start talking on that, “There is still a lot more to it, when my father discovered that the old man Blanco wanted to end all life on the continent, he started to look for a way to work against that, which won’t be obvious and won’t get him caught as well, it was then through his research that he discovered that the frost technology in the dragon continent was life preserving as well, which meant that it wouldn’t be able to work towards ending a life or lives as the case may be, so my father made the mimic technology to completely mimic the frost technology even to that same attribute” Charlie explained.

“He succeed and went to old man Blanco as he pretended not to know any thing about the living ice that resulted from his actions, as I read from my father’s hidden journals, old man Blanco was even happier that they were still alive in the frozen state and that cane as a relief to my father, that and the fact that he had successfully preserved all life on the dragon continent even if it was an uncomfortable existence” he analyzed to the group and could see that the menace that was directed towards him had somewhat reduced.

“It was as well my father that started the MAGE project, although he hid what he was really doing from the cooperation, as he was building the technology that produced the serum that is used in controlling the dragons, he also stole resources from the cooperation and used it to build a machine, a technology that could be used to free said dragons from the mind control and even further build their immunity to it, but he was not able to complete it before he died of an illness that he could not battle, when I came across his journals, I searched for the technology and found this here, I didn’t have his knowledge of dragons nor did I have the equipment I might need to develop the tech as needed, so I worked on it and converted it instead to the MAGE that it is today, the one that heals deep and untreatable brain and mind illness” Charlie explained.

“I was only able to turn it around to help dragons as well only after I could get the resources needed for that from you all, the first time I used the technology to help Sarah, I was suddenly visited by the WIC, they took me in to their place and even old man Blanco talked to me, they offered to hire me to come and be the leader of the team of scientists and researchers that they had, they actually thought I knew nothing about them, not knowing I had every detail on them from my father’s journals, their offer was too irresistible, but because I knew of them and their ways, I was able to decline without batting an eye, much to old man Blanco’s surprise even” Charlie continued.

“I realized when I was brought back that my father hadn’t yet taken the precautions that wouldn’t let the WIC know of the machine’s existence, they could track it, so I went and worked on it some more and did that, then I left everything behind and moved with Sarah to the most remote place I could think of, I was aided in my decision by my father’s journals as well, where he had listed multiple locations where there was next to zero or zero influence and reach of the WIC, believe me, I was surprised out of my mind when a dragon dropped on our doorstep and you lot followed still bringing back all I had ran away from back to me and right back in my face, I would have denied being able to help or assist in any way, but from Dai’s stories, I discovered that your race has suffered for so long under the cooperation and in a way I was still involved because of my father, you are the ones on the right side, so I decided to help you” Charlie said to them.

At that point there were a lot of mixed feelings going about in the room, some didn’t wan t to believe, some did believe him, after all he didn’t dare lie amongst them all, Sarah also used that moment to go to him and hug him, she had really thought he was truly with the enemy too, but then it was fine after all, all he did was hide it all from her, but at least, now all her ideas about the dragon existence even before she encountered Dai now made sense, the technology had influenced her mind when it was used on her and had implanted the truth in her mind in a way.

“He speaks the truth” Ryoka said at that point, “But you missed something, when you reverted the machine to once again work for dragons, another part of the machine awoke and in that part as well was something that the WIC could track to us” she said and held up the part that she had tore out of the machine.

“Now, while I’m sorry about the way we had approached the matter, I’m sure you understand why we reacted as such” Ryoka said again to him a a sort of pleading manner “If you would still like to help us, because we need you and your expertise and as well as your father’s journals, and it would be your job to help make the MAGE work as it really is supposed to, we will need that in this our struggle” she said to Charlie and he was nodding continuously to her words.

“Now to everyone” Ryoka said “I knew of the issue with the MAGE technology and Charlie because the dragon queen mother met me in the plane to explain things to me, she us still jot as well as we would like her to be, but while we work on restoring her and my Aunt Dai, we have our next mission laid out for us, and it would be the most difficult yet, because now we aren’t moving unpredictably anymore, they know that this would be our next move and are well prepared for us, but we have no choice as we have to act fast before it is once again too late” Ryoka said and looked at their faces, they weren’t fazed, they all ready to give their lives for the cause, their resolve was steeled and there was no shaking or breaking it.

“Tell us what the mission is” Caleb stated, Ryoka knew that most of them knew what the mission was, but they still had to hear it from her, she was their commander after all and they would follow her to the ends of hell if that was what it would take to liberate their race.

“We are going to rescue the person that is meant to be the next dragon queen, my mother, Laura, from the most secure facility in all of the WIC, old man Blanco’s base itself” Ryoka said to them.
