Chapter 55

“So should we try it on mother first or we go for the queen straight up” Adrian asked throwing the question to the air, the whole family and other high ranking members of the revolution were in a room set aside for the MAGE technology, along with the doctors, after they had all gotten back to the base and brought everyone else up to speed with the recent developments; finding Dai and as well getting a possible solution to the dragon queen’s predicament, they had put the MAGE technology in a room, set it up and have Charlie work on it for almost two days straight, getting him all he needs in terms of resources and tools and as well as his personal needs in terms of food and the likes.

Now the technology was all but finished, or so Charlie says, and now it was to the point where they either gamble on the machine being able to work twice for two people, and one amongst the two is a rather ancient and powerful being, Charlie was really confident that the MAGE was all good and it could take on both of them, but then people like Dante, Arcturus and Caleb knew enough about technologies to know that tech and dragons aren’t a good mix at all, they had witnessed enough experiments that the WIC conducted using high technology, and the very fact that most of those experiments only because the technology wasn’t compatible with the dragon victims.

Adrian’s question hung in the air for a few more minutes before anyone could actually say anything and the person that spoke was Dai herself “If this turned out to be a one time thing, it’ll be wasted on me if I go first, so I’ll totally vote in the queen first, but then, if it was going to backfire in any way, have any side effects, it would be straight on the queen because she went first, but either ways, I still say the queen should go first, we’ll just keep our fingers crossed, hoping for the best” Dai said, she really didn’t actually wish to experience the MAGE again, but then she wouldn’t get the healing she needed, something she was sure that it had surpassed her natural healing abilities, but that aside, she believed that any shot they had should be spent on the dragon queen.

“If we really are to do this, it has to be now, we can’t keep on gambling to determine our next move” Arcturus stated, “We need someone like her to give us a more defined purpose, even Ryoka attested to the fact that we really need our queen, which brings me to say that I really believe that Dai should go first, after all, she is right about not knowing the side effects of a new technology that was adjusted to work for a dragon rather than a human, if there was going to be any issues, we’d detect from Dai’s experience and if not, well then, we move on to the queen” Arcturus said in a voice that carried swaying effects as Ryoka could see a lot of those that were there agreeing to his suggestion.

“All in all” Dante started after Arcturus stopped “This is a very big and tricky decision, and it has to be made right because we have no more margin for error, and so , it is only fitting that the decision be made by our very own commander and the current leader of the revolution” he said and shifted a bit to allow her be seen well enough.

Ryoka stepped forward, if she hadn’t been prepared for this moment, then she would have been in a very awkward and embarrassing situation, but she had quite guessed that this would happen, it was why she had engaged Charlie the day before while he worked on the technology, it had been just the two of them and Ryoka had sternly told him that all the machine would get was once chance to work and he had to make it so that they did not miss that one chance and there is no bad after effect.

Charlie had been ready to swear on his life that the technology would indeed work without mixing in different side effects or problems, he had promised that he got enough samples from Dai when they were there treating her, maybe that was what she felt and maybe not.

“Fine, let the queen of dragons go in first” Ryoka said with a conviction that was enough to even reassure everyone present there, Ryoka didn’t like to gamble so she was putting all her chips in with just two things in mind, the reassurance from Charlie and then the believe she had that the queen’s message will get to them so that they can turn the revolution around and win against the WIC, without the message from the queen, there really is no sure way ahead for them, all they’d be doing is stumbling about fist fighting the sandstorm that the WIC.

The men started to move and they moved the dragon queen to the machine bed and strapped her to it working gently as they did it, once the dragon queen was firmly strapped in, they doctors started their own part of the job by plugging and inserting every instrument they needed to, form those that would monitor her vitals to the ones that would pass in a particular current and frequency to her body and brain so that the MAGE can work as it is supposed to, after this was done, Sarah stepped back to join the others in the line they had formed just a few steps away from the whole thing, Charlie glanced at them all and then fixed his gaze on Ryoka who nodded for him to go ahead, then he plugged in MAGE and flipped it on and then tuned it to all the specifications needed.

Everyone in the room held their breath in anticipation and anxiety as the machine whirred to life and started it’s work, for Dai, Ryoka and Adrian who had experienced and seen how the machine works, they expected a much stronger reaction from the dragon queen as it did for Dai, but instead there was absolutely no reaction from her, not even the jerking of her body and definitely not even a little twitch from her entire body, MAGE whirred on and on and the dragon queen continued to be in a state of rest, the only evidence they had that the technology was working was just the fact that it was on and whirring away as it worked.

“Stop!” A beautiful coarse voice said in Ryoka’s head, she had heard the voice countless times in her head to know that it was the dragon queen’s voice, the voice repeated its command and Ryoka looked around her, she discovered that no one else could gear what she heard and that could only mean one thing, draugh fuh, so she slipped into her draugh fuh’s plane, lo and behold, the dragon queen was there in all her radiance and beauty, it wasn’t really like how the others appear which was like a couple of tiny lights coming together to for a body and if Ryoka wished to enter the person’s subconscious like she did to Dai, all she would do was enter into the lights, instead the dragon queen had a physical appearance much like she did, well, she is a draugh fuh bearer as well, so that must be why.

“Little burning flame, I see you’ve grown your flames and soon they would become a blazing inferno, I am proud of you for that, but right now, you have to stop this that you are doing to me right now” the dragon queen, Elouise the mother said to Ryoka who was both really excited and baffled at the same time, the machine was working, so why should they stop it? Or was there some side effects to it that she didn’t know but the dragon queen knew?

“Mother, I’m so happy to finally have you here, clearly this time, real as well, but why mother, why should we put a stop to it, it is helping you after all, we haven’t been able to get your mind pieced together before this here now, we need you, your guidance, your rule, your instructions, I am out of ideas on how to go by this revolution successfully, as it is, and I’m afraid the people will start to lose their faith in me if I am not forthcoming, we are getting larger by the day and our resources and provisions are running out, please, let us do this and let us have you with us to guide us in our ways” Ryoka said to the dragon queen, pleading.

“Dear child, first of all, you have been betrayed, the machine being used right now could as well be a beacon in the night sky, pointing out where you are to these evil people, it has all their markings and signature on it, it is something of theirs, who is to say they can’t track it here to you all, that aside, I figured it was supposed to be obvious already, I am not the queen anymore, I have failed my people, the era of the dragons almost got wiped out in my time and got reduced to a crawling insect, draugh fuh had chosen another already and it has chosen another still, this means it is already telling you that it was time for a new rule, a new reign, of course you can’t rule yet, you haven’t even spent your half of a millennial yet” Elouise the mother explained.

“But the next person is around and well, her mind is one of the strongest I’ve ever encountered, stronger than mine but maybe just as strong as yours would eventually be as well, she has resisted them in every way even more than I could, I gave in after a few decades, she hasn’t still, and now she is in even more danger since you had broken me out, now they will seek for every way to get her under their control so that they can use her the same way they used me, the will farm her till she eventually looses her mind as well and by then, all will be lost, lastly, the dragon continent is still alive and not dead, it can be awoken, if the living ice can be conquered, now, go stop that machine before we lose this war before we’ve even properly started, that is what will happen if we are discovered here in this base” the dragon queen said and started to fade out of the draugh fuh plane faster than Ryoka could give any reply.

When Ryoka gained awareness once more, the machine was still whirring and the queen was still just laying on the bed as she was strapped to it, “Stop the machine!” Ryoka said, it was sudden and everyone was dumbstruck at first at the sudden command and what it implied.

“What? Why? It’s working I’m sure of it” Charlie replied, he was the only one who didn’t get shocked dumb by the request because stopping the machine would mean his work would be halted before being properly finished and his expectations and high hopes would be dashed.

“I said, stop, the, machine” Ryoka replied adamantly, she might have not gotten full clarity on the dragon queens words but the one she knew took precedence was the details revolving around this technology, first of all, it had to be stopped, figuring out the rest comes later on.

“What are you saying Ryoka? The things has hardly done anything, and it was your order we followed to put the queen there, what if stopping it now even brings about more damage?” Arcturus challenged, of course he would be against the stopping of the works, he was probably the next person who wanted the dragon queen back the most, after Ryoka that is.

“Fine” Ryoka said and moved towards the machine, “I’ll do it myself” she said and went to the plugs and switches, Charlie wanted to object and try to obstruct her but a dangerous look from her dissuaded him and he moved away from her, Ryoka pulled out the plug connecting the machine to the power source and it started to power down, much to everyone’s dismay, then she moved close to the technology itself, she looked around and about it till she got to its back, she touched the back lightly, yes, this was where an intuition is telling her to look.

“W_what are you ddoing” Charlie stammered but as soon as he spoke, Ryoka bashed the back of the technology with a powerful punch that went straight through it, tearing inside it, everyone in the room exclaimed at the action but Ryoka wasn’t done, she grabbed the machine from the inside where her fist penetrated and tore out the part of the back she hit completely.

Everyone was surprised, shocked, and some even got furious at such sudden outburst of an action from Ryoka without an explanation, but Ryoka’s rage was more intense and more evident on her face that all the others actually calmed down after seeing her angered expression, she stretched out the part she tore out, that was where she had glanced at and took on the rage filled attitude, everyone came forward to also look at it as she stretched it out for them, and there they all saw, written in bold Roberto sans, “Property of the White Infinity Cooperation (WIC)”
