Chapter 4: I reject you

Redrine's POV.

“You expect me to reject you? Huh? That's too easy for you, I want to see you suffer so much that the moon Goddess will come plead on your behalf. From now henceforth, you'll be my personal maid. Scarlett will give you the run through” And we stormed out.

I stood there dumbfounded with my hand on my cheek, my life was going from bad to worse with every ticking moment.

“Let's go” Mrs Scarlett said, pushing me slightly. I wiped the tears on my cheek and followed her.

She took me to a room that had nothing but a small bed in it. The space is so tiny that I might not fit in if I ate properly for two days.

“Here's your room”, I turned to her and she shrugged her shoulders.

“You have to be in front of the king's door by six am before he wakes. You'll be the one to prepare his bath as soon as he opens the door in the morning. You'll be the one to serve him his breakfast too. You're not allowed to leave his side or be far from him, you have to be there whenever he needs you or call for you.”

I made mental notes as I tried to keep up with what she said, even though I nodded at every word she said, I'd need to write them down.

“And lastly, friendly advice, stay clear of her. Don't annoy her because the alpha will choose her over and over again, and it's her word against yours again, so be careful”.

I watched her turn her back, leaving me alone in this hellhole.

Grrrrrrrrrmmmmmnnnn

I opened half of my eyes to see what was going on. I don't have any alarms. Where is the sound coming?

My eyes widened at the unfamiliar roof.

I jumped up from the bed when I remembered where I was, I rushed to the bathroom, did my business and rushed to the Alpha's wing. I asked for directions but only a young girl answered me.

“Just go right and walk straight down, you'll know when you see it” she said. I thanked her before rushing off. I wasn't the only one rushing, everyone was hurrying somewhere, and she wasn't lying when she said," I'll know when you see it.

The Alpha's wing was exceptional, it's like another pack house on its own. The black and ash suit the Alpha's personality. The inside was speaking wealth, it wasn't hard to locate the Alpha's chamber. I stood in front of the door contemplating if I should knock or not.

I decided to knock and went in when I heard a soft “come in”

He had his back turned to me facing the window when I entered, and I was unable to see his face.

“Good morning alpha”. I greeted him with my head bowed. He didn't respond, not like I was expecting one.

“You’re late! What time were you told to get here” he shouted. I shivered under his gaze.

“I'm sorry sir, it was hard finding your quarter, sir”. I kept my head bowed. My heart was beating crazily. Just his sight is enough for me to want the ground to swallow me.

“Let this be the last time you try this with me. I won't be so lenient the next time.”

“Yes sir, thank you, Alpha” I said, my knees buckled in relief.

I went to his bathroom to prepare his bath, adding the essential oils to it. I was so scared that I couldn't even admire the room.

“Your bath is ready Sir.”

As soon as he entered, I heard a light knock on the door. I opened up to see it was a maid from the kitchen with the Alpha's food on a trolley.

I said a quick ‘thank you', went back in and set the table. I was contemplating on whether I should pick out his outfits for today or wait when the opened on its own. I turned to see Bethany matching towards me in anger.

“What are you doing here? Are you here to seduce the alpha?” she shouted, stopping in front of me.

Seeing her alone makes my blood boil, but I can't do anything.

“Are you blind to see I'm in my mate's room or do you want me to spell it out to you? How could you be so stupid that you'd want to be with someone that's not your mate? Don't ever come near my mate if you don't want to see my wrath”. I pushed her. After I said that, she fell on her butt crying.

“I'm talking to you. What are you doing here?” Bethany shouted, pulling me out of my imagination. She was staring daggers at me with her hand on her hip.

“I'm here to attend to the Alpha's needs” I saw, bowing lightly.

“What?! What do you mean you're attending to Nickolas' needs?” She yelled again, her eyes almost bulging out of their sockets as she screamed her head off.

I don't know why she calls him by that name, probably because Rembrary is too hard to pronounce for her.

“Because I'm his personal maid” I answered through my teeth.

“His personal maid? Since when?” She asked again.

‘Lord, is she this stupid or does her brain just fail to comprehend what I'm saying'. I facepalmed myself mentally.

She grabbed me by my hair suddenly, and I yelped in pain.

“Did you just call me stupid?” She asked.

“Did I say that loud?” I asked myself, and she tightened her hold on my hair. I grabbed her clothes for support as she shook me with my hair because she was taller than me.

“Let me go” I yelled, but she kept pushing and pulling and my hold on her clothes tightened too for support.

“What's going on here?!” She let me go and, in fear, I let her go violently, causing her to fall on her butt.

“I .. I didn't mean to push her, she..”

Another word from you and you'll be thrown in the dungeon” he said with authority as he marched to Bethany and carried her in his arms in a bridal style.

“Are you okay?” he asked, and she cried loudly, shaking her head.

“I'm not okay, she could have killed me if you weren't here” my jaw dropped at her dramatic display. I didn't even do anything to her.

“Come, let you get checked up” she wrapped her arm around his neck as he carried her out. My jaw dropped to the ground, get her checked because she fell on my butt?

I feel tears at the back of my eyes, I'm the one with the bad luck. Anyway. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath for some minutes.

How I wish I could go back to my room now, or better still run far from this, back. Wouldn't it be better if he rejected me or sent me out of his pack?

I remained rooted there and waited for Alpha to come back and give me my punishment.

After some minutes, he walked back in looking like he was about to tear me to pieces.

“Why did you do it?” He asked, but I didn't even know what to say. He didn't even ask me what happened.

“I asked a question. Why did you do it?” He yelled at me and I jumped back.

“I didn't do anything, she's mad that I'm here and probably insecure of what's not” I answered, trying not to cry.

“Well that's not what she told me”. I took a step back when I saw his eyes change color.

“That's because she lied, I don't know what she told you, but she lied” I know I'm playing with fire, but I hate being trampled on.

“Don't you dare call my woman a liar!” I winced as the word cut through me.

“She has more legacy than your generation will ever have. You want to be my mate that badly, huh? That you'll do anything to stay beside me and hurt Bethany for no reason. You're truly your father's daughter. Get out” he yelled, and I scurried to the door.

I stopped midway, “I didn't do anything, you don't need to believe me and trust me, I don't want to have anything to do with you either. I hope this proves it”, I said, and turned to him.

“I, Redrine Kleen, reject you Alpha Rembrary Nickolas as my mate” I said with my eyes closed.

He chuckled instead, “You know that's impossible, right? Your rank is far lower than that of an omega, so you can't reject an Alpha, you can't reject me” he said, walking towards me with a masked expression.

“I, Rembrary Nickolas” he paused, and I was glad he would reject me, and I'd go far from here.

“I, Rembrary Nickolas, accept you, Redrine Kleen, as my mate but not as my Luna.”
