When Nirman had sent me the link, I'd been excited to head for the interview.
It was in a week so I'd willed myself to prepare as much as I could.
I'd been searching for a job for an entire year so I really needed to get the job.
And so, I practiced answers to possibly all the questions in the world.
Nirman had said he was a billionaire so I obviously needed to dress my best.
I'd dressed in my most expensive outfits.
A dark blue v-neck knee length gown, which flared from the waist downwards, and a black shoe.
My hair, which had been left unkempt since Dan broke up with me, had been given a nice trim and care.
I wasn't one to do makeup, neither did I want to rub the interviewer off in the wrong way by adding tons of make-up, so I just added powder and lipstick.
Nirman had driven me to the place the interview was to be held and I'd never felt more nervous.
“I'm nervous.” I admitted when we both got down from the car in front of the biggest place I'd ever been to.
Although I was only outside, I could sense the beauty of the internal part of the... mansion?
Were they seriously conducting the interview in a mansion?
He reached for my hand, squeezing it in his. “You're going to do all right, trust me.”
I tried to seek comfort in his grip, but I didn't find it and so I released my hand from his and walked into the place.
The process of entry was tiring as I had to pass through tons of security.
It also didn't help make me feel any less nervous.
After minutes of staying outside, I was finally allowed in.
As expected, the place was magnificent and breathtaking.
I had never been to such a huge place, so even if I didn't get the job, I'd never be able to forget that I legally stayed in a billionaire's house even for a minute.
A female I guessed was a worker, sauntered towards me.
“Are you Miss Alix Bradson?” She asked in a tone that I thought most workers possessed.
“Yes.” Although I was nervous, I was still able to compose myself.
“Please follow me.” The female began heading towards a direction and I did as instructed. I just followed behind her.
Soon, we were in a room filled with beautiful interiors and paintings.
Though I wasn't into art that much, I could sense that the paintings cost millions of dollars.
“Please, take a seat and wait for your turn.” The female said.
I took a seat on a couch, and if I'd expected the entire place to be filled with people awaiting to be interviewed, I was certainly deceiving myself.
There was only a man who looked close to his early fifties, sitting on the chair opposite me.
After a while, the man was called to be interviewed and soon it was my turn.
“Miss Alix,” a female said as she sauntered into the room.
My heart raced twice as fast at my name. “Hmm.”
“You may come in.” The female said it like it wasn't something serious and could change someone's life.
“Okay.” I rose to my feet and followed the female into an even bigger room.
The room was really beautiful and I would've been awed by the view from the window, if I wasn't staring at the woman who was sitting on a couch.
The woman looked close to her early fifties and as I stared her down, I noticed how she possessed wealth in her aura.
“Have your seat.” She said in an intimidating tone.
I willed myself to calm down with the thoughts that the female is a human being like me.
Only wealthier and more powerful.
I took a seat opposite the woman, and although I couldn't help staring at those beautiful green eyes of hers.
“Alix Bradson,” the woman started, staring at some files on her hand, “now I'm not going to ask you anything about your business life or whatever, I just care about your ability in caretaking.”
I nodded.
“Are you patient?”
“Yes.” After living with Lucy for a year, one was bound to develop patience, else I'd be homeless.
“Like how patient?”
“I have a roommate who once insulted my deceased mom and my dad, all because I forgot to shut the door, but I was able to not say a word amidst all the insults.” Which had been very difficult to do, but I did.
The woman stared at me with an amused expression. “Wow.”
“Yes.”
She cleared her throat like she just realized that she sounded too interested. “Can you cook?”
“Yes, I can.” After living with Lucy for a year, one had to learn how to fend for oneself else you'll starve to death.
“Okay.”
But would I be cooking for him? He was a billionaire so he should have maids that'd cook for him, right?
As though reading my mind, the female added. “There's a specific food he eats at a particular time of the week, and you're the only one that'd cook it for him.”
Wait, she said that I'd be the only one that'd cook it. Did that mean I got the job?
The woman asked more questions that, thanks to Lucy, I could give a positive answer to.
After about five more minutes, the woman rose to her feet and I immediately followed suit.
“Alix Bradson,” she started, “come back by this time tomorrow so you can start your job,” then she walked out of the place.
I got the job? Oh my gosh!
I wanted to scream at the top of my lungs, dancing around the place, but I managed to compose myself.
No need to rush anything.
I left the place and, by the direction of a female, was led out of the house to sight Nirman leaning against his car.
When he saw me, he rushed towards me. “How did it go?”
I threw him into her hands. “I got the job, you moron.” I laughed.
“Really?!” He hugged me tightly and when we released from the hug, we both went into a fit of laughter and celebration.
I called my other friend, Lily, sharing the news to her.
Finally, after a year of searching. I finally got a job.
