Chapter 4: The Ruthless Alpha

"Mate," I gasped. I said it almost in a whisper. Who is this man? It was the first time that I saw him in our territory. Who is this guy who turns out to be my mate? I couldn't believe it! I gave up on having hopes about finding my mate but now... he was there! What are the odds, right? It's maybe true that you'll find what you're looking for if you stop looking and let things flow in their own ways. I was still processing things when I heard the voice that sounded trouble, as always and it's the voice that always makes me feel edgy. "What are you doing here?" I saw Aunt Hillary's glaring eyes directed at me. She looked so pissed along with my two cousins who were behind her. I didn't see uncle Meson somewhere. He must be inside talking to someone. "Aunt--" I was about to reason out but she stopped me as she walked past my mate who was standing there in confusion as she looked at her. He must have been wondering who Aunt Hillary is. "Come here!" Aunt said as she held my elbow and was about to pull me out of there when I heard the most authoritative voice ever. I knew Aunt Hillary would have done something to me after seeing that I came there. "Stop," My mate said in a voice that sounded so unbendable and I noticed that people from inside the hall were starting to crowd us there at the entrance. I felt embarrassed about it especially because I wasn't prepared to be seen by many that night. It wasn't my intention. I wasn't dressed the same way as they were and I felt like I was messing with their party. "Alpha Ryden, what is going on?" I heard another man's voice and it wasn't someone from our pack. He was looking at my mate as he said that. What?! Wait.... what did he call my mate? ALPHA? He's a freaking alpha?! What the hell?! My mate... is an Alpha?! What the freaking hell! How is that possible? Is his name Alpha or is he really an Alpha like a leader of a pack? Jeez, this is becoming so unbelievable. Ryden... well, it has a beautiful ring on it. My mate's name is Ryden. It sounds cool and brave. I saw people around us starting to whisper to one another although I can hear them. I didn't know what to do. I was nailed there with my eyes glued to my mate alone. What do I do? I was super nervous. I didn't expect to see my mate that night let alone discover that he might be an Alpha and then realization hit me. He isn't our alpha and we were only expecting one alpha visitor that night so is he the alpha of the neighboring pack? Is he... the ruthless Alpha? The one who defeats every enemy that came his way? Jeez, am I dreaming? I even pinched my other hand just to see if I was dreaming or not. "Ouch," I said when I felt the pain from pinching a bit harder. I even wiggled my hands in the air to ease the pain. I saw the look on everyone's faces and I realized it was real. It was for real! I am right there in front of my mate! "What's your name?" He ignored everyone around us and was only giving his full attention to me. I felt like I was under an investigation under his stare. His long hair was tied up, his thick eyebrows were giving much emphasis to how authoritative he looked, and his eyes... they were the most beautiful pair I have set my eyes on. I couldn't help but notice how perfectly shaped his nose is and those lips which looked tempting. Those fine lips that scream authority as he spoke to me were everything. I gulped. "A-Ayesha..." I muttered. Aunt Hillary took her hands off my elbow and looked towards my mate. Maybe now she gets it; why I was standing there and not moving at all. "Ayesha what?" He probed. Of course, he would ask for my surname. He must be wondering who I am in this pack. Oh, he'd be disappointed to know that I am not any official's daughter. I am just a mere omega member. Oh, jeez. Please get a hold of yourself, Aye. Stop stuttering. "Ayesha Arisson," I finally answered him after calming my nerves deep inside. "What is going on here?" Uncle Meson said as soon as she saw me in the middle of the crowd. I didn't see him coming. I just realized that everyone from the party was there and was looking at us as if we were a puzzle. Maybe that's why it was hard to see my Uncle heading our way. I looked at Uncle Meson and was about to answer him when my mate spoke again. Every time he speaks, I felt my insides churning up. It was as if there were butterflies in my stomach. "I, Ryden Albrecht, accept you, Ayesha Arisson as my mate." He said which made everyone around us gasp in disbelief. Who wouldn't right? For them, I was nothing. I was just a mere niece of Uncle Meson and nothing else. I was an orphan and an omega member which means I mean nothing to the pack aside from the fact that my Uncle is the head of security. "WHAT?!" Uncle Meson's voice boomed. It's that voice of him when gets surprised or worried. I couldn't properly read his reaction. He was looking at me and then at my mate. "MATE?! SHE'S YOUR MATE?" Aunt Hillary shouted in disbelief. I saw how her eyes showed different emotions; fear, nervousness, dismayed, and awkwardness. I saw how my two cousins' eyes grew wide in disbelief as well. I knew they were hoping to be the alpha's mate but it turned out I was the one. I'm pretty sure they were killing me on their minds already. I gulped. Now, everyone knew that he is my mate, and did I hear him right? Did he accept me as his mate even without knowing anything from me? I mean, look at me, as compared to every other girl in there, I looked nothing. I'm sure many would tell him to just reject me and find someone who is capable of leading with him. "Alpha, are you certain she's your mate? She looks odd and incapable to be your mate." The man who spoke to my mate earlier said as he looked at me. Based on the way he looked at me, he was disgusted that I was his alpha's mate. Who am I, anyway? I know that alphas usually take another alpha's daughter as their mate to keep the royal blood in them and in order for their packs to be stronger. I am no royal blood and he must be thinking that their pack doesn't deserve someone like me. I looked down at my feet. See? Everyone thinks of me as nothing but trash in their way. I felt like crying helplessly but I couldn't give them the satisfaction. I can't let them treat me that way anymore. I've been silent and have endured every single criticism since I was orphaned but not tonight. Maybe it was the mate bond that made me stronger than ever. I won't cry in front of these people. I was about to walk out of there and leave everyone that was judging me with their disgusted looks when I heard a loud thud. I raised my head and saw the man who called me odd kissing the ground. What the hell? Everyone gasped and was panicking. What just happened? Did he just punch him down? I saw some unfamiliar men going over to help the man on the floor. His upper lip was bleeding. Oh my gosh, why would he do that? "Don't you talk about her like that!!!" I heard Ryden growl. Everyone was startled including me even if he was just defending me. The ruthless alpha is indeed my mate!
