Celestially Bound

Chapter 10

      Shock and numbness overwhelmed me as I stared into the black eyes glaring at me. Daniel's expression made it clear I had crossed a line. When he opened his mouth to speak I decided to test something. What I pictured in my head became reality as life around me stood still. 

    Freeing myself from his grasp I took a breath to calm myself and gather my thoughts. I didn't want to get into a serious fight less than a week of meeting each other. I limped around admiring the frozen figure. God he's gorgeous even when he's furious. His red cheeks and furrowed eyebrows showed a different look I was not used to. I liked it....a lot. Geeze what is wrong with me?!

    Thinking fast knowing I couldn't keep this up much longer I wrapped my arms around his neck bringing my lips to his ear. "I'm sorry Daniel" I whispered as time resumed. 

    Flinching slightly Daniel let out a small gasp. "I'm sorry but I had to. I don't want to fight with you. I know I shouldn't have left without a word but I just needed time to myself." I said still holding on.

    To my surprise he returned the embrace sighing and nuzzling into my neck. The action caused my breathing to hitch. I felt his body relax as he tightened his arms around me. "I thought I had lost you. I thought you left me." he said, his voice breaking at the end.

    Daniel pulled back to look into my eyes. His hurt filled gaze penetrated into my soul consuming me with guilt. "Daniel I-"

    "I know....just please....don't do it again." His look softened as he cupped my cheek. Tears filled my eyes as I could feel his emotions rolling off of him.  I closed my eyes at his touch. Leaning forward I connected our lips. 

    A low growl erupted from Daniel's chest as he pressed further against my lips. His tongue begged for entrance which I granted.     

    I was swept away by the kiss as our tongues danced together fighting for dominance. How does this man affect me so. I didn't want him to stop. Our breathing increased causing goosebumps to spread over my body. God his breathing is sexy, what the hell is wrong with me. Bringing my hands to his head I laced my fingers through his hair and pulled him closer.....if that was even possible. 

    As he leaned forward I stumbled back and winced. "s**t ow!" I yelped, realizing we were still standing in water.

    Daniel furrowed his eyebrows "What's wrong? Did I hurt you?"

    "No no it happened last night when I flew." I waved as I moved to sit on the bank. I examined my ankle to see the swelling had increased. 

    "You....flew?" I looked up to see Daniel staring down at me in awe.

    "Well it was more like floating" I shrugged "I came out here to get away and to see what else I'm capable of. I'm so tired of all these damn surprises lately. I feel so helpless." I could feel tears pricking my eyes. 

    Daniel knelt beside me pulling me to him as he stroked the back of my head calming me. He can be so sweet and gentle.

    After a few moments he let me go seeing I had calmed down. I gave him a small smile before returning to my ankle. Leaning forward to rub my ankle I wished internally for the pain to just disappear. 'Yeah dream on.' I thought rolling my eyes.

    A strange feeling started to well up inside me. 'Oh great what now...'

    All of sudden glowing blue threads of light left my finger tips and surrounded my ankle. I gasped as the threads drew tighter together before absorbing into my skin. The pain had dissipated and I could move freely without trouble.

    "How did you do that?!" Daniel asked, clearly shocked just as I was. 

    "I don't know but that'll definitely come in handy!" I laughed out and Daniel chuckled. "See this is why I came out here. I have no idea what else I can do. So damn frustrating, I wish I came with a handbook."

    "No offense but where would the fun be in that?"

    "Excuse me?" I asked incredulously.

    "Lydia if you knew how your entire life would turn out then where would the adventure come in to play?" he stated seriously.

    "I guess you have a point but I'd at least like a heads up on the shitty parts.....speaking of, I need answers today. I want to know.....everything." I said crossing my arms.

    He stayed silent for a few moments before taking a seat on the ground sighing in defeat. "Alright, what do you want to know?" he asked patting the ground next to him. I smiled satisfactorily and sat down.

    Ok where should I start. "What happened to my parents that night?"

    The look on his face said that he had anticipated that this would be my first question. "You were all attacked by a group who is unknown. We've heard stories from different victims who escaped that it is a mixed group comprised of supernaturals." he said furrowing his brows together. 

    "Wait what? Other attacks? Supernaturals?" I'm so confused. Supernaturals don't work together. More often than that, we all don't trust each other. 

    "The attacks were not at random. The other victims all had known your parents. While the incident is still being investigated I don't have much knowledge about that night but I know someone who does. He would be able to shed more light on your parents."

    "Really? Who?!" I almost couldn't contain myself. Something weird was going on and somehow my parents were involved. 

    "The former Alpha, my father, Jonathan Edgewater." 

    I swallowed. Oh gosh this meant I had to meet his parents this soon. That did not appeal to me in the slightest however, the questions I have have been killing me. I looked up at Daniel and nodded. "Ok will you ask him if I can talk to him?"

    "No need, my parents are anxious to meet you. They invited us over for dinner tonight." he said with a small smile that did not reach his eyes.

    "Is something wrong?" I asked curiously.

    "Not at all. I just.....please keep your abilities to yourself. I don't want anyone to know about you before we can find someone who might know something."

    "What if he does?" 

    A thought appeared to cross his mind as he looked across the lake. "That is a possibility given his age. Let me feel him out to see if approaching the subject would be wise or not."

    Smiling up at him I agreed. Standing up, Daniel pulled me into his arms before bending down for one last kiss, he then shifted to his wolf and took me back to the pack house.

    The sun was high in the sky when we reached the pack house. I climbed off of Daniel's wolf's back and kept my eyes focused on the pack house while he shifted back.

"He loves running with you" Daniel stated, his voice approaching me from behind.

I turned around beaming up at him. "I'm happy because I love it too.....Oh I meant to ask. What is his name?"

Amusement and realization filled his eyes before he answered "River".

"That name is perfect. He's graceful just like a flowing river." I smiled.

Daniel's eyes turned dark at my remark as he put his hand on my hips.

I reached out to touch his cheek getting lost in his gaze. The sparks returned underneath my touch. "I love touching you. You're like sexy electricity" I whispered.

Daniel started to chuckle until his smile faded. "What are talking about Lydia?"

"The little sparks I get when I touch you.....do you not feel that?"

Confusion washed over his face and his eyes glazed over. I guess he's talking to his wolf or a pack member is linking him.

I waited on edge as his eyes cleared after a few seconds and he opened his mouth.

"Lydia.....are you sure you don't have a wolf?" his question caught me off guard.

"Of course I'm sure! I would have had one by now. Why?" I stared at him waiting for his response. I don't know why he would ask that. If I had a wolf I don't think I would be in this situation. That thought struck me with sadness.

Daniel looked at me carefully. He reached up with his right hand and cupped my cheek. Sparks erupted from his touch and I sighed happily at the sensation.

"You feel this?" he asked softly. I nodded. "Lydia.....that's the mate bond."

Hold up.

"Wait...what?" That can't be possible! How can I feel a mate bond without a....oh......that's why the question. Hmm? I didn't know that's what that was. I just thought it was severe attraction because come on he's gorgeous. Any girl would get the tingles from this guy.

"What do I smell like?" His question pulled me from my thoughts.

"Um excuse me?"

Daniel chuckled "Do I have a certain scent? I'm just trying to see how strong the bond is for you."

"Oooooh" I laughed then started sniffing him. I hope no one walks by right now cause this feels ridiculous.

The air around him didn't smell different. I placed my hand on his chest and leaned into his neck inhaling deeply. He let out a shiver. The smell of dirt, sweat and musk pricked my nose. He didn't smell bad but it certainly wasn't anything out of the ordinary or distinct. Just a blend of things.

"You smell like you've been outside" I giggled.

Daniel smiled lifting me up in his arms "Is that bad?"

The mischievous smirk on his face told me he didn't need an answer. The air around us changed as desire took hold.

My breathing hitched as his lips came crashing down onto mine. Never have I experienced anything so wonderful as kissing Daniel. My world seems to fall right into place as his lips gently move against mine telling me how much he needs me. I wrap my legs around him. His hands move to my ass holding me there as he deepens the kiss sending my body into a frenzy. A soft moan escapes my lips as I tangle my fingers into his hair trying to bring him closer.

*Cough* "Ahem"

I jump out of Daniel's arms and turn around to see Dylan grinning with his arms folded across his chest. "Well it looks like you found her"

I think I just turned 5 shades of red.....

I give Daniel a shy smile and run towards the house. I hear laughter behind me as I reach the back door. Before I can get to the elevator I am being pulled into another room.

"GIRL! Where were you?!" a frantic looking Miriam questions me.

"Holy crap you scared the s**t out of me!" I clutch my chest and let out a breath.

Miriam pulls me into a hug "I was so worried when Dylan told me you went missing last night"

"I'm sorry I just went out for a little while to clear my head and ended up getting lost" I sorta lied. I really did get lost but I can't let her know why.....at least not yet. "Daniel found me and I already told him I wouldn't do it again...." I paused remembering what just happened outside and heat spread across my cheeks.

Miriam smirked "Oh really? Anything else happen?" She's grinning wildly now. I playfully smack her arm making her laugh.

I start telling her about what happened outside until her brother ruined the moment. She couldn't stop laughing and told me she'd get him back for me. I let her know about meeting Daniel's parents tonight (leaving out the real reason) and how nervous I was. She assured me everything would be fine and this was an important step in our relationship. I thanked her and headed to my room to get ready.

*Sigh* I really hope I get some answers tonight. As soon as I stepped out of the elevator *rumble*.....my stomach starts protesting. Oh yeah haha food first then panic.

After debating between food choices I settled on a sandwich then hopped in the shower which felt amazing.

I looked at my phone after choosing an outfit to see a text from Daniel. 'Hello darling, dinner will be at 7pm. My mother is quite excited. You should probably get a nap in before tonight xoxo.' I swooned at the text and realized how tired I was. A nap sounded so good right now. I threw on some sweat pants, a tshirt and climbed into bed. Darkness consumed me as I fell into a dreamless sleep.....
