Chapter 3

Before I knew it the plane was getting ready to land. The attendants and I woke my sisters up and got them buckled.      The landing was much rougher than the take off but I was assured that this was normal.      When the plane had come to a complete stop we were allowed to unbuckle and exit the plane. Before we left we made sure to thank everyone for their hospitality and getting us here safely.....even though I wish we weren't here to begin with.      Waiting for us was a black Escalade. I have never ridden in one of those before.      Some of the more well off students at my school had families that could afford them. My family made a more modest living.....'sigh' my family.      Miss Matthews hopped in the vehicle and we drove off.      It was a lot colder up here than Mississippi. It's only August, it shouldn't be cold yet but how should I know. I have never been outside of Mississippi.      The girls fell back asleep within ten minutes. I however, stared out the window trying to get a glimpse of our new surroundings to no avail.      It was around 11:30pm and everything outside was pitch black. The only light I could see was coming from the moon. Funny enough that is the only thing at this point that has stayed the same. The moon shone like it always had despite our new location.      I took a long sigh and awaited our new fate. I didn't have the heart to tell the girls yet that I wouldn't be with them when we got there. I felt so guilty but I didn't want to spoil the time we had left together. I looked at them sleeping so peacefully and it made me happy to see them so content. I looked back out of the window and gazed into the darkness until we arrived. ~~~~~~~~~~~     After an hour had passed we were finally pulling into the Oak Water Pack site.      I'm not going to lie it looked like a little town all on it's own. It was much bigger than my pack site.      It was buried deep in the woods. Street lamps lit the area and the dirt roads leading to all of the little homes surrounding the pack house.......the pack house.      That place was huge! It looked to be five stories. I guess the best way to explain it is that it looked like someone stacked five mansions on top up each other. The pack house could easily house five hundred wolves.      I gulped just thinking about it. I wasn't a fan of huge crowds and now I would have to live with one.          Staring absentmindedly I hadn't realized that we had stopped. Miss Matthews stepped out of the vehicle and I woke up my sisters.      "Okay sweethearts we are here" I said softly gently shaking each child.      After we were out of the vehicle I saw Miss Matthews speaking to a young couple who looked like they were in their late thirties. I knew better though. Wolves are strong and age a lot slower. They could be in there eighties or older for all I knew.      Miss Matthews turned around and gave me a knowing nod. I braced myself and bent down to look at my precious darlings.      "Okay lovelies I have something important to tell you but you have to listen and you can't get upset okay?" They all looked confused and sleepy but nodded regardless. "We are going to be staying here for a little while. You are all going to be staying with this really nice family but I can't go with you. You see that big house over there? If you ever need me I'll be right inside. I will try and see you as much as I can. Please don't cry, I know it's hard but you have to be strong for me okay? You are all brave little princesses and I love you so much!" I said gently kissing each one on their foreheads with tears threatening to spill.      They were all in tears now hugging me. How can I do this? I hope that the couple realizes what they are doing to us.      I lifted Olivia and grabbed the others hands and led them to the couple.      "This is Michael and Sarah Davis" Matthews said as we grew closer.      I gave Elizabeth and Chloe reassuring looks and squeezed their hands before they reluctantly walked over to Sarah who was smiling at them. Olivia on the other hand clung on to me crying "No Liddy! No go! Faeries!"      I gave her the biggest hug I could give her before pulling back to look at her. I pinched her chin gently to look up at me "Listen precious, I love you more than anything. They are nice people and will take good care of you. You have to protect Liz and Chloe for me, ok?"      She looked at me, sniffed, wiped her eyes and said "Ok Liddy I protec em."      "That's my girl!" I said giving her one last hug before Sarah took her into her arms. I watched as they walked towards their new home. They kept looking back at me and I waved smiling at them. I'm glad it was dark so they couldn't see all of the tears that were pouring down my face.....my babies.      Once they were a good ways away Miss Matthews turned towards me "Alright Miss Grove this is where we part ways. The pack house is right there. There is someone inside waiting for you. Try to adapt the best you can." She turned and got into the vehicle and drove away.      I just stood there wide eyed. 'Try to adapt' that's all she could say?! Here she was dumping me with strangers and those were her kind words???      My tears turned to anger for a moment before returning back to tears. I was standing outside all alone and it was quite chilly. 'Here goes nothing' I thought as I walked up the stairs to the pack house.      This thing was just massive. There were two large wooden doors leading into the house. Before I could knock, one of the doors opened. A tall man with dark blonde hair and blue eyes stood in front of me.      "Miss Grove?" he asked and I nodded. "I'm Dylan, the Beta of the Oak Water Pack. The Alpha has retired for the evening and has instructed me to show you to your room. Since you are new you will be sharing a room."      Okay I'm sure this mansion is big enough for me to have my own room but whatever. I nodded and he led me towards the elevator. Wow.      "You will be on the second floor with the Omegas" Dylan said while pressing a button. We entered and remained quiet till we reached the second floor. As soon as the doors opened a light brown haired girl with blue eyes was smiling at me.      "Hi! You must be Lydia! I'm Miriam, you'll be staying with me" she said with more enthusiasm than I expected. She gave Dylan a look and he returned to the elevator.      "Finally we are alone" she giggled and grabbed my hand leading me down a massive hallway. "The Omegas sleep here on the second floor. The Thetas are on the third and the Betas are on the fourth. Of course there are other wolves mixed in but you get the idea" she said like I knew what she was talking about.      "What about the Alpha?" I asked. She stopped and looked at me.      "He stays on the first level but only certain people are allowed near his room. No one is allowed over there unless given specific permission." she said "Oh and Julia stays there as well. You are to respect her as your Luna."      "Got it, Alpha and Luna are on the first floor and don't got to their room without permission." I repeated.      "No, she isn't the Luna, just treat her like it." she clarified.      I looked at her completely puzzled. What did she mean? Treat her like a Luna but she isn't one? That was a bit odd. She saw my face and told me to wait until we were inside of our room.     Once in our room she locked the door and turned around.      "I shouldn't be telling you everything just yet because you haven't spoken with the Alpha yet but I heard you have been through a lot" she said.      Finally someone who sympathizes! I gave her a warm smile "Thank you."      She smiled back "Of course! Okay..." she said plopping down on a bed. I sat on the one next to it. Before I could survey the room she continued "So you met Dylan? He's my older brother. Well...Julia is our cousin." I nodded and she went on "Julia is not the Luna because she is not the Alpha's mate. They have been together thirty years though. That's why everyone is to treat her as Luna. That is Daniel's command."      "Daniel?" I questioned. Who was he?      Her eyes widen and a look of guilt crossed her face. "Oh don't call him that ever! That was my fault, I've known him for so long. It's Alpha Daniel but everyone is only supposed to call him Alpha unless told otherwise." she explained.      "Oh okay, well that helps a little. I'm still kind of confused but I'm sure I'll understand everything in time" I assured her. She smiled and nodded.      Miriam seemed super sweet and very animated. She reminded me of my best friend Kate back home.....oh...'no stop' I warned myself. While lost in thought I didn't notice Miriam staring at me.      "Are you gonna be ok?" she seemed really concerned which touched me.      "Um yeah I'm just tired" I lied. Well I was tired but mostly devastated. I didn't want to unload all of my problems onto someone I had just met. She seemed to understand.      "Ok, well if you ever need to talk I am here" she said sweetly "The bathroom is over there and the closet is there. There are some clothes in there now for you but I will take you out later this week." She turned to get in bed before turning around once more. "Oh I know it's late but I forgot to tell you" she started " We are all expected to keep house everyday. Our day off is Sunday. The Alpha told me to let you sleep in since it's your first day so I will come get you at noon."      I just nodded and thanked her as she went to bed. I stood up and went to the closet to grab a change of clothes. I needed another shower. All of this was just too much. I turned on the shower and lost it once more, longer this time.      I took my time getting ready for bed before softly crying my self to sleep.
