Meet
Today, JANE slept in her dormitory with no open classes. In her dream, she saw her mom preparing creamy mushroom soup, grilled corn, and pan-fried steak. The enticing aroma made JANE involuntarily bow her head, but before she could take a bite, she was abruptly awakened by a loud "bang."
It was her roommate, Alice, returning. She seemed upset and forcefully closed the door.
"Ugh, I'm so irritated! Valentine's Day is coming again!" Alice expressed her dissatisfaction as a single person, or as she called it, a "single dog."
"Yeah, why do you have such thoughts?" ALICE was startled and looked across the bed with wide eyes as JANE's disheveled head emerged from behind the curtain.
"JANE, you're in your dorm room, huh?"
"Yeah," JANE got up and went to wash up, "just sleeping."
Alice was astonished, "Sleeping until now? It's already one in the afternoon!"
"I didn't have anything to do," JANE spat out the toothpaste and rinsed her mouth. "Alice, don't worry about it."
Alice immediately ran over and hugged JANE, pretending to cry, "It's so miserable; everyone in our apartment is out on dates, and it's just the two of us, single dogs."
JANE nodded, as if that were indeed the case.
Alice looked at JANE's fair face, her slender waist held by Alice's hands, and then glanced at JANE's obviously well-endowed chest. Puzzled, Alice asked, "Strange, JANE, you're pretty and have a good figure. Why are you still single?"
After thinking for a moment, JANE earnestly replied to her roommate, "I don't know."
Alice suddenly felt a bit frustrated, "You're always sleeping in the dorm. If I were like you, I'd definitely go out and show off, maybe even streak down the street to let everyone see what a beauty is."
"Well... that might not be a good idea," Alice frowned at JANE's serious expression. However, JANE changed her tone, "At least cover up the essentials, consider it a slightly revealing bikini."
Alice burst into laughter at JANE's suggestion. Having been roommates for two years, she fully understood that JANE's thought process was quite unique.
After finishing her morning routine, JANE sat on a chair in a daze. With no classes today, she didn't know what to do.
Observing JANE's idle state, Alice slammed the table, "No, it's a beautiful day. How can we waste it?"
"What should we do then?"
"I don't know, let's go out and stroll. Or we can go back to school?"
Alice urged JANE to change her clothes and then spiritedly dragged her out.
Once outside, they realized how lovey-dovey the campus had become. Couples were everywhere, holding hands and hugging. In secluded spots, some couples were even kissing.
"I can't see, I can't see..." Alice muttered softly. Then she pouted and said, "I also want a boyfriend."
JANE consoled Alice, saying, "You can't see, you can't see..."
Alice: ...
Feeling a bit down, Alice grabbed JANE and headed to the school's cake shop, intending to comfort herself. However, they were stopped by someone distributing flyers.
"Students, there's a special Valentine's Day social event tonight. There will be delicious food and fun games..."
"I want to go!" Alice didn't wait for the person distributing the flyers to finish and immediately expressed her desire to sign up. She then looked at JANE with a somewhat conflicted expression. Hearing the person say, "Students, come and join us. It will be interesting, and there will be many handsome guys," JANE thought for a moment and, with Alice's pleading eyes, wrote her name on the registration form.
In the evening, the school's activity center was lively. Carefully arranged by the students, it looked more like a lively party than a social event. Nervously sitting in a corner, Alice conversed with JANE, "JANE, do you think I can catch a handsome guy tonight?"
"Probably."
"Bless me with your words." Alice started looking around the venue with excitement, muttering, "No handsome guys in sight."
"Oh, JANE!" Suddenly, Alice approached her, saying, "Our class's academic genius is here too. I thought he would just fight his way to the library." JANE looked up and indeed saw Alan from their class. He stood in the crowd, his handsome face maintaining an aura that kept people at a distance. Someone approached him, and he turned his head, coincidentally meeting JANE's eyes. JANE immediately lowered her head and sipped her juice.
"JANE, why is Alan coming towards us?"
JANE's eyelid twitched. Was it a good omen or a bad omen?
"Hey." Alan took the initiative to greet them.
"Genius, why are you here at a social event?" Alice was very curious.
"My friend is one of the organizers." Alan said, "Do you mind if I sit with you guys?"
Alice waved her hand, smiling, "Of course not, of course not." Then Alan sat next to JANE and said, "Hey, JANE."
"Hey," JANE responded calmly.
Alan, being the cool and reserved top student, JANE, who wasn't fond of talking to strangers, and Alice, who was good at sensing atmospheres but didn't know what to say, led to a silence. Fortunately, Alan's friend came over, a very cheerful and sociable handsome guy. The atmosphere quickly became lively again as they chatted about anime. Excited about their shared interests, Alice quickly developed a camaraderie with him, leaving them dancing wildly during the dancing session. This left only JANE and Alan at their seats, and the atmosphere began to freeze once again.
JANE scratched her head, ready to find something to talk about.
"When are you planning to explain that day to me?" Alan suddenly spoke.
"Which day?" JANE's eyelid twitched again. Was it a sign of fortune or disaster this time?
Alan suddenly approached her and whispered, "The day you left me at the hotel after you had s*x with me."
JANE remembered. It was probably a disaster this time.
JANE shifted her body backward, creating some distance between her and Alan. Alan also sat up straight, wearing an expression of uncertainty.
JANE thought about it, so she apologized to him, "I'm sorry, I'm inexperienced."
Alan looked at JANE and asked, "What do you mean?"
"I should have waited for you to wake up, so we could discuss splitting the hotel bill evenly," JANE took out her phone and asked, "Can I transfer the money to you?"
Alan was momentarily stunned, then said, "I don't ask you for the hotel bill."
"Well..."
"JANE, it was my first time."
"Huh?" JANE fidgeted and said, "That ...... that I'm sorry."
"Is there anything else you want to say?"
"Yes," JANE calmed down a bit and said, "Although we had some drinks that day, we were still conscious, so... you also bear some responsibility."
Alan seemed to chuckle in frustration, "JANE, I don't want to beat around the bush with you."
JANE heard Alan say, "I want you to take responsibility."
"Why should I?" JANE blurted out.
Alan looked at JANE, repeating her words, "Why should I?"
Before JANE could explain, Alan suddenly got up and left. In hindsight, it seemed that Alan was a bit angry. JANE felt a bit frustrated, realizing that impulsiveness was indeed a devil, and alcohol was not a good thing.
Alice walked happily with JANE on the way back to their dorm, sharing her achievements of adding handsome guys on phone tonight. JANE nodded absentmindedly.Seeing JANE looking a bit downcast, Alice asked:"JANE, what's wrong?"
"I... I think I might have upset Alan."
"Oh, what did you do?"
JANE thought for a moment. Alan probably didn't like others discussing his privacy, so she shook her head.
"Well... never mind then. Anyway, we're not close to him, and he seems like an aloof person. We don't need to have much interaction with him."
"Okay." JANE replied verbally, but in her mind, she was wondering what to do now that they had already initiated some interaction.
The next day, there was a major class, and JANE had to get up early. However, she still entered the classroom just before the bell rang. Alice saved her a seat and waved her over as she entered.
"Um... ”next to Alan.
Thinking about what JANE had told her last night, Alice explained in a hushed voice, "I had breakfast a bit late, and this was the only seat available in the front."
"No problem." JANE shook her head.
