The tension that surrounds the adviser’s table increased. “We shan’t follow the Prophecy! Hasn’t anyone noticed that this leads nothing but trouble? Someone with a stable piece of mind would never give the king’s children to two unstable strange women. Prophecies are not to be trusted all of the time.” “But what is said has happened, hasn’t it?” “Prince James is not named after our third king, Asmith.” “Maybe we’ve got trouble as to how we calculated the—“ “Enough Jim and Asi! I think it’s time to listen to the majority of the choice. This prophecy is not to be followed unless you want to be punished by death.” “Then what are we waiting for? For the prophecy to do his word? Is it not much safer if we’re the one moving? Don’t wait for the book to throw its fireballs. Let us not wait for the moment he’ll lose his patience!” “Jim please…stop it.” “What should I stop? Me convincing them not to repeat the history? No Amie! I won’t stop unless they do what the prophecy want them to do. I won’t just sit here and agree to let Calshire suffer things that they don’t need to suffer.” “What happened long ago is a mere incident.” “That’s what they say, that’s what you want them to believe, and now, that’s what you and everyone else in this room wanted so much to believe.” Jim shrugged. “Well maybe if it was my fault, and if I was at your position, that is what I would do.” “This meeting has nowhere to go. I’ll dismiss everyone.” May and Yap haven’t stood up. They began whispering at each other. They both looked at Jim and Asi’s direction. They stood up and walked towards Jim. “We’ve agreed that the two of you should stay in your rooms until your Majesty has come home. We cannot risk seeing the two of you walking around.” Jim and Asi looked at each other. Asi nodded and they walked at their rooms. The moment they went inside, Yap locked the room. “Why did you agreed, Asi? I’m ready to sprint out while you distract them and you agreed?! We only got seven days! Seven days, Asi! And we’ve wasted that because you’ve agreed to be put here. I thought, like me, you wanted to follow the prophecy’s word? How’re we going—“ “Someone is already doing the job for us, Jim.” “What are you talking about?” “Madame Arthura and madame Valencia! Where are these women?” “We’re here sir,” says Valencia. “Are we the ones chosen to take care of the babies?” Arthura asked. “Please proceed to the doors at the back. Madame Arthura at the first door please and Madame Valencia at the second.” “But sire! You haven’t answered my question yet! “Arthura exclaimed. Valencia struggled to pull Arthura inside. “Sire!” “Madame Lilac and madame…” Arthura and Valencia entered at their corresponding doors. Arthura sat at the chair and leaned at the table. “What am I supposed to do Monsignor? What am I about to do? Would I be taking care of the prince? The princess?” The monsignor smiled. “There’s nothing to be done but wait at the last apple tree near Calshire’s salted river.” Arthura and Valencia are walking at the forest to their designated spots. “Valencia, just tell me the truth alright? I know that all you want is to kidnap the infant from my hands.” “Arthura, I was never like you. Never will I take the child if it wasn't for me.” “You can’t bear a child, right? So you’re doing this out of jealousy? I understand. But Valencia, jealousy can do anything.” They separated paths. Arthura scooped the baby covered with a blue cloth. She let the river drain the basket where the baby had once been. “I sold my useless infant son at the black market just to afford taking care of you, Prince James. So you better be something or I’ll do the same to you.” Valencia took out a baby inside a basket covered in a pink cloth. “I haven’t got the chance to have a child.” She hugged the baby. “so I will treat you as if you were my real daughter.” She looked at the smiling baby. Her skin as pink as a Sakura. “And that’s a promise princess Jane.”
