Episode 3: The Final Note

780 Words
Eclipse Ridge had become a dreamlike setting for Liam in recent weeks. What could it be? Ezra's energy was present in Orion'S Strings, which Liam had no knowledge of the store or his life. Customers came here not only to buy instruments, but also to listen to Ezra's spontaneous performances. The financial condition of the shop had begun to appear more positive, but there was a fear concealed in the background that both parties couldn't overlook. There is no indication from Ezra that he would remain. Even though he never spoke about it, Liam felt like there was something holding him back, which made Ezra look up at the sky with an unrelenting wry smile. Later on, as they were packing for school, Elijah asked "are you happy here?". He remained silent while looking at Liam and said, "I am.". But...”Liam felt his chest tighten. The words were so powerful that he knew what Ezra was going to say before the actual wording. "I don't know whether I can escape.". Hands clenched at his sides as Liam asked, screeching in agony. "What are you hiding?" Ezra asked him before looking down. Staying... it scares me. What if I ruin it? What if I caused Liam's heart to break down? His intention was to convince Ezra that he wouldn't harm anything and that taking such a chance was worth it, but the words stuck in his head. He suggested not having to run as an alternative. Not from me. Zra's jaw clenched, and there was a moment where he seemed more convinced than not. The voice in Liam's head erupted as he said sorry, leaving him speechless. Ezra then left the shop with LiAM to speak, and the next few days were spent in silence without any sound. After a while, Liam worked quietly, trying to forget the pain in his chest where Ezra had created an opening. Despite the shop being bustling, Ezra's laughter and the music they had created made it feel empty. Liam was alone with his violin as he closed the store one evening. He played, pouring his heart and soul into the music.'". The melody was haunting, infused with unspoken language and the pain of an incomplete task. As he played, Ezra reverberated. His fingers danced across the strings of his guitar, he smiled and said, "It's like being in my uncle'Stefan... it was just me.". After thinking about the festival, he concluded that Eclipse Ridge's local music festival was its most significant event of the year, with musicians from all over the region converging on the town square to perform. Ezra was eagerly anticipating it, discussing their potential collaboration and sharing their music with others. This made him very excited. Liam was unsure of his ability to handle the situation alone. The town square was filled with music and laughter as the festival began. At the backstage, Liam was clutching his violin while a knot of nerves consumed his stomach. He was unsure of the reason behind his decision to perform. Maybe he was conscious of the fact that Ezra would have wanted him to comply.' Perhaps it was due to his need to prove his ability. As he took the stage, the audience gave him the weight of their expectations and left him in silence. The only solution? Liam breathed deeply and took control of his violin. Despite the initial shakiness, he eventually became immersed in the music as it unfolded. He put his heart and soul into the song, but then let words speak for him. As the crowd viewed in stunned silence, the music unfolded with a tale of love and longing. Just as he reached the end, an unfamiliar sound emerged from his head: The guitar played, joining him on violin. With Liam's heart racing, they watched Ezro emerging out of the shadows, his hair dampened by rain. When Ezra's eyes met his, the world seemed to fade away. They played together like never before, their music seamlessly blended into one another. Liam barely heard the cheers from the crowd, which erupted in later.' The music was the only thing he could hear, and Ezra stood silent as lurched on his chest. "I'm tired of running," sounded him. Liam held back tears in his eyes. “Let's stay here, folks.” He said softly, but not too hard. Although it wasn't always easy, they found a working rhythm through facing their fears and healing wounds. By making it a place of refuge, they transformed Orion's Strings from merry to uplifting, connecting people not only with their instruments but also with connections, inspiration and hope. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE END ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
