Episode 1: The First Note
Hidden deep within the lush forests, Eclipse Ridge was a town where the sound of the ocean always seemed to pierce through. The town was small, with winding and narrow streets teeming with old brick buildings and small shops. One of the most notable shops in the area was Orion's Strings, a music shop located at the corner of Maple Avenue, where instruments were suspended like memories on every wall.
Liam had been employed there since his teenage years. His sanctuary was music, his voice when words were insufficient.. His learning to play the violin during his younger days was like an orgasmic experience. Liam drew inspiration from his experiences of longing and uncritical reflection, as well as inability to articulate the depth of his emotions when hearing each note on his violin. He has always had a passion for music, but it seems like it was all gone lately. Why? But the shop was just floating on water. Fewer people were acquiring instruments, and the tourists who used to visit Eclipse Ridge were now dispersing. The area was once popular.
Orion's Strings was locked for a time, and Liam stood outside when the last of his customers had left, feeling the cool and crisp evening air. With his fatigue and the stress of struggling at the shop, he made a gentle sound as if walking alone along shore. The feeling was unmistakable. Quiet evening, the guitar strum making gentle strides.'
Curiosity tugged at him. He was captivated by the music and followed the sound. Upon turning, he caught sight of Ezra. The person was sitting on a sizable rock, facing the sunset, while holding sway and playing impromptu guitar. Liam's uncharacteristically wild curling curls caught the attention of those watching on stage, and his music had a distinct rawness to it that was unexpected for him. The way Ezra played could only be described as unadorned and characterized by a rigid structure. It was music that spoke directly to the soul.
Liam couldn't help himself. Standing there, he quietly let the sound wash over him. His heart raced. He had never heard anything like it before, and the rawness of its sound and freedom was unmatched. He shattered his eyes and let the music take him somewhere profound inside.
The tone of Ezra's voice was both amusing and comforting.
Liam's eyes snapped open. With a playful expression, Ezra gazed at him. The heart rate of Liam rose as he hesitated. This was not his usual behavior, of being noticed, or even invited into someone else's world like this. A challenge or invitation could have been within Ezra's eyes.
“I...
Liam shook his head in confusion. "I don't know what to do." I'm not sure.
With a smile on his face, Ezra interrupted him and said, "I'll drown you out if you're not up to it." Although his expression was playful, there was something darker within the situation.
Liam experienced a peculiar sensation in his chest. Although he had been playing music for years, a similar experience never occurred to him before. With his hand in place, he turned and resumed his gaze towards Ezra, who was still giving him a feverish stare.
He quickly returned to the shop and took his violin. Stepping into the cool night, and his palms tapping to grip the wood that seemed like they were. His fingers were waiting for him to start again, and Ezra lay his guitar on his lap.
After a brief hesitation, Liam began playing with his violin. Initially, the music was uncertain and unsteady, but then it moved along. The situation was imperfect, but it didn't alter much. Together they produced something beautiful - the strange guitar snarling between Ezra and Liam's violin. The music was like a constant presence, waiting for them to discover it.
Until the night fell, they spent hours playing until all of a sudden the stars appeared to twinkle before them like dreams. The music was their means of expression, not words.' Ezra's lips filled with joy as he reclined, the final note drifting in the air. It was pure happiness.
The voice became softer as the music played, and he exclaimed "That was amazing!" with an indecent impression.
The warmth of the moment penetrated Liam's chest. There wasn’t a heavy burden on the world for quite some time.?
“I...
Liam confessed that he rarely plays with others and could not stop playing. “I’m just not very good at it.” He nodded in agreement.
With a look that made him feel understood without any need for expression, Ezra looked at him and said, "You don't have to be good at it.". Simply put, you need to feel it.'
And that was it. A door opening caused Liam's chest to open up, like fresh air after years of being suffocated with gas. It was almost like the moment he breathed.
