Dancing For Zac

1500 Words
"Hey girly, I heard you got yourself a private dance request." Kayla said as Lory walked into the dressing room. "Yeah, the offer came so suddenly." Lory threw herself on the cushion to rest for a few seconds, the dancing had been hectic, but all the money she got was worth every single shake of her a*s and every single beat of the music. It would help her pay at the very least, more than half of the money her mother owed the gambling sharks that lent her money. "I'm sure you did well." Venus said firmly, like she knew Lory well enough. Lory looked up to see Venus beaming at her, Lory melted in happiness, she no longer felt like she was all alone in the world. "Of course she would kill it, you girls need to see Lory dance, it's like she trained since birth. Her a*s shakes with the music, her waist whines like a snake's." Molly chuckled, but the pride in her voice couldn't be tempered. "Wow, well my birthday is today and the party has already begun at my place. It's a big party and I hope you'll show me your skills today." Brooke announced. "Sure, I would." Lory replied with a small smile, she didn't know exactly what she just answered for until it registered in her head that she just agreed to follow her to a birthday party when she had classes early this morning. Lory shrugged it away though, with the kind of week she'd had, winding down was not so much of a problem. Lory stood up and joined them in getting dressed, when they were done, they all left together to the car park. "Y'all are coming to my birthday party, okay?" Brooke reminded them. "Of course we remember, let's go girls!" Molly said. Lory wanted to latch unto Molly, but Molly had jumped into Venus's car and was already speaking to her. They all got into their different cars, leaving Lory battling with which choice she should make, ditch classes and follow them or give them an excuse? "Hey Lory, just follow our cars, we won't drive that fast so you don't get lost on the way." Brooke said from the open window of her own car, jolting Lory out of her reverie. Lory quickly entered her car and drove off with them without thinking through again, the time for that was already past. When they arrived at Brooke's house the whole place was already filled up with a lot of invited and uninvited people, it was just like another club in a home. Suddenly, Lory wondered why Brooke would go to work at the strip club on her birthday, but money was hard to find and if she needed to work on her birthday for money to be made, then, so be it. "Let's get in, told y'all that the party started already!" Brooke said loudly so the girls could hear her voice above the overly loud music. The girls laughed as they walked inside the dimly lit room. Before Lory could adjust to the atmosphere and the low lighting, the other girls were rocking one guy or the other like they've been there earlier, they just blended in immediately leaving Lory to fend for herself. As Lory stood there confused Kayla came from behind and dragged her to the makeshift bar that had been set up near the dining area. "Girl, why are you standing like a lost puppy?" Kayla asked playfully and handed her a shot glass of tequila, she passed Lory a pinch of salt and a wedge of lime as well. Lory threw back the tequila Kayla handed out and felt the burn at the back of her throat that passed to her stomach. "Honestly, I'm not used to this kind of parties." Lory confessed, it was all so new to her like putting a deer in front of headlights. She didn't party as a teen, mostly only reading books and preparing for her Bachelor of Nursing program at UCLA. "Really? But, you do so well at the club" Kayla took in two shots after the other, sucking on a lime for a long time after asking her question. "Well, I adapt fast I guess." Lory shrugged. "That's a good thing because we are about to make this place light up!" Kayla was already high and hyper. She danced right there on the counter, shaking her body to the rhythm of the beat. She passed Lory shot after shot until Lory was as drunk as she was, both of them went on the dance floor and started dancing, they caught the attention of some of the attendees and they were soon hailing and hyping both of them dance more. Lory danced to her fullest, she felt lighter than ever before and she loved the feeling, like the weight of the world had been lifted from her shoulders for once. She felt like she could take on whatever the world threw at her, surely it had thrown plenty at her. Her father's death had cost her so much happiness and the way that her mother coped through gambling nearly broke her even more. She wanted to scream from the top of the roof that all of her earnings would be taken by the deliberate effort of her mother. After the fun on the dance floor, Lory walked up the stairs looking for the rest room, but by some error, she entered a room thinking it was the restroom, but she noticed it was a bedroom instead, because of how drunk she was she didn't bother asking who the owner of the room was, she just lay prone on the bed immediately, she didn't wish to sleep. She was just looking for where to rest so that the world will stop spinning in her head but as soon as she laid on the soft bed she noticed someone come in but she was too weak to ask who it was, she just let herself drift off like that. Zac walked into his room, he felt he saw a ghost, the ghost of his crush in his sister's birthday party dancing like a professional. This was the party he wanted his crush to come with him to as a date. When he entered his room he noticed the door was already opened, next he noticed someone on his bed. "Who's there?" He asked but nobody answered him. He walked towards the bed and removed the hair that covered the girl's face to see who it was, to his surprise it was Lory, his big time crush. His eyes widened in complete surprise. "Holy smokes." He almost pinched himself to be sure he was not dreaming or imagining things. It was the last place he ever expected to meet Lory. "How come she's here, did someone invite her?" He thought. Lory moved uncomfortably on the bed and Zac jumped, he adjusted her body as she was close to rolling off the bed and covered her with his duvet because the night was very cold. He thought of changing her clothes and putting her in something more comfortable than the sexy bandage dress she was wearing but he changed his mind, he didn't want her to wake up tomorrow and think he took advantage of her. When he was done he left his room to get some drinks for himself but the party was already over and a lot of people had crashed on the floor and couch, some even sprawled out on the kitchen counter. He grabbed a bottle of soda from the fridge and sat on the tall stool to think of how he was gonna face Lory in the morning. He had a lot of questions to ask, like "What is she doing at his sister's party?" ****** "Hey Zac, aren't you going to bed?" Brooke said, Zac's sister, the birthday girl. "Ohh yeah, I'll be going to bed" Zac raised himself from the stool slowly, he didn't know if he could ask his sister if she invited Lory, but if she said no it might become an issue, so he let it slide, because his sister hates stupid questions, he would ask Lory herself when she wakes up. "Okay, if you need me to drop you off at college, just tell me?" Brooke shouted before Zac turned the corner, out of her sight. When Zac entered his room, at first he was s**t a*s scared that if Lory woke up at that point, things would be unexplainable. He quickly and quietly took out two bed sheets and a duvet, lay them on the floor beside his bed and laid down, falling asleep almost immediately. The next morning when Lory woke up she felt as if someone was pounding her head with Thor's hammer. "Ahhhh." She cried out and raised herself up from the bed, she looked around as she realized this was not her room.
