Chapter 8 ‘We’re here,’ said Scott, speaking for the first time since we’d left my parents’ house. I kept my sunglasses on as I got out of the car, not sure what to do with my hands as I waited for him to come around and lead me to the front door. His strong hand grasped mine, our fingers entwining as he gave a low commentary on where we were and what was ahead of me so I wouldn’t stumble. I still wasn’t used to being led around, but he made it feel less awkward, more like a friendly gesture rather than a chore.
