Chapter thirty three -Testing boundaries
"Oh?" I said, voice light. "Should I?"
She narrowed her eyes, her posture stiffening ever so slightly. "You'll only make things worse for yourself."
I took a step toward the sitting room-where Vincent's deep voice was drifting in from the other side. Close. So close.
"Let's find out, shall we?" I said, louder this time.
Her eyes widened as I called out, "Vin-!"
Before I could finish, her hand clamped around my arm like a vice. "Don't."
I turned slowly to face her. Her mask had slipped now — there was panic behind her eyes. Good.
"Let me go"" I said through gritted teeth, yanking my arm from her grip. How dare her ?
