Nerezza’s POV “Mmhmm” this is delicious Agun” I said looking at the apple in my hands I look up at the owner of the store Agun who was looking at me with on emotion I knew too well ‘disgust’ and I reciprocated it with my emotion my body knew too well to return this emotion my ultra-mega blinding smile. I glanced up to his floating anix, his was a water-like floating bird. Although am 90% sure he has water element. This was an era, which humans had an anix a creature assigned at birthed to you as to your anix, the greater you are in the society. It was a normality that everyone is born with an anix even slaves had one so obviously if you were not birthed with one you are seen as a plague and that’s exactly what I am “a plague”. I looked at Agun’s anix with my lovely eyes and sweet smile but all I got back was a threatening gaze “shame”, I chuckled “That will be two copper coin” “What! Just for one apple, I have just one copper coin” “Whatever just drop it on the table” he said pointing at the table as he watch me drop it on the table, you could see the disgust written all over his face and who needs an anix when everyone fears you. I laughed my lungs out as I wiped my imaginary tears from my eyes as I walked away I felt his anix throwing daggers at my head, but my eyes moved around, the sounds of shop doors slamming shut rings through my ears. I know they all want to kill me if they had the chance, but I wasn’t a slave so they couldn’t do anything to me, if an anix attack or the owner of an anix attacks a defenseless person who was not proven of any crime, the punishment was to become anixless like me of course the law was one of the many laws made after the war, people couldn’t handle the stigmatization that comes with it, they often kill themselves but for me who wasn’t born with one. I handled it pretty well and laughed more when people cleared the way for me as I skipped around the market obviously like a princess. people even prayed to the gods for me not to glance at their shop, for it was perceived as bad luck. From the corner of my eyes I saw it mouthwatering pritol snack, I sped up to the shop but before I could reach it, I slammed my head into a brick wall, literally! I rubbed my head, I smiled sheepishly as I look at the earth-like anix blocking me from the shop. “O common that’s rude I just want some snacks” I said giving my best puppy eyes “Nerezza!” I am startled by the sudden outburst of my name “Ah, Mimi my beloved friend” going in for a hug but the latter moved back as she held her hands up “Madame is looking for you” “Uhhh, time goes by when you are having fun, just give me some few minutes” I could see a lot of people tense, some were about to protest but before they could…….. “No” Mimi replied. Looking at her with cold distant eyes “party pooper, o well” I sighed while looking back at the anix blocking the snack shop and just like that a smile returned to face “Now” said Mimi “Fine am coming” I walked behind her while glancing at her anix “Ah, Roja good to see you to, how long has it been an hour” I looked at the anix looking at me with pure hatred as the owner moved forward, the water-like serpent slid itself around its owner’s neck and didn’t give me the satisfaction I craved but still it was something I enjoyed I chuckled at the anix. As soon as Nerezza left the market, people began to release the breath they never knew they were holding and Nerezza became the new topic of discussion, I could hear the buzzing sound of the market and laughed, Mimi’s anix slowly turned its head towards me as I looked at it with a smile “A lovely day it is, isn’t it Roja” and I watched as the expression changed into a scowl like regrets for looking back and my laughter rang through the air. I whistled while walking behind Mimi, I know how it annoys her so much and is it wrong how am so happy about it, and yes am not a sadist, I just derive pleasure in people pain that’s all, with that thought in mind, I chuckled as Mimi came to an abrupt halt making me almost crash into her, she turned back and looked at me with her grey stormy eyes, no doubt, if I was a man I will definitely pay for a night and let me tell you, I have even tried bargaining but she said I quote ‘even if they pay me ten gold bars I will never, not in this life or in the next ten lifetimes will I spend a night with you’. Was still a mystery But even with it gone, it reminiscent was still around, the ‘Gem of sage’, with it a human can be the greatest god, an anix can be the greatest creature, with it one has the greatest power and it was known that the greediest creature desired it and it joined powers with some of the gods to accomplish its goal. Making the heavens suffer from the greatest turmoil, it have ever had. Of course it was not a secret who the greediest creature was ‘HUMANS’ or to be specific ‘ROYALS’, the ones affected by this war were the weak, hopeless, with nowhere to run, only survivors could make it through the war and one of those survivors was non-other than Nerezza, 8 year old Nerezza clenched her small dagger with her teeth as she tightened the cloth around her calf as it was bleeding from the cut she just received from a vengeful anix, as it roared for the death of its master that Nerezza killed, the anix, a fire breather wanted to make sure Nerezza followed it and its master to the afterlife, if there was still one with the condition of heaven, there was a possibility you might not even make it to the afterlife, you may just be a tool needed to their benefit and if you are of no use you are quickly disposed of and the people who couldn’t survive the war in the mortal realm sure as hell can’t survive in the realm of the gods, what a sad fate. The fire breather anix lunched for Nerezza with it sharp claws and fish-like body, it was a grade 2 fire breather and it was weak as it master was dead, Nerezza scoffed as she recalled, it was a pity, for an anix will die once its master is dead, but never the other way around, the master just become anixless. Nerezza jumped up to kick the anix to the other direction, though her plan worked, she was too small and too short it was a miracle she could kill such a grown man, the anix got to her legs before it dissipated. Nerezza cursed as she tied her legs, if anyone was to hear her, they would have punished her or maybe look at her with disgust for such a small young slave girl to utter such words was despicable. Nerezza laughed at her thoughts as she finished tightening the cloth around her leg to reduce the bleeding, she looked up to the sky pouring snow down the floor, she chuckled to herself but soon it developed to a full blown laughter at this point even the remaining animals around scattered and ran away from the little scary girl, for such a young girl the laughter dripped of pure hatred
