Kim stepped outside her small house, feeling uneasy for reasons she couldn’t explain. Her heart beat faster as she looked toward the forest. Something felt wrong. The air was too still. No insects. No wind. Then she heard footsteps. Kim turned, her body tensing. Before she could react, a tall man stepped out from the shadows of the trees. His presence alone made the night feel heavier. She recognized him instantly. Alpha Eden. He was exactly as the stories described—strong, calm, and powerful. His dark eyes locked onto hers, and in that moment, Kim felt as if the world had stopped moving. Eden felt it too. The pull was sudden and overwhelming. One breath of her scent, and his wolf stirred violently inside him. The truth hit him like a blow to the chest. Mate. He had spent years believing fate was a lie. Yet here she was, standing in front of him, unaware of what she meant to him. “You shouldn’t be out here alone,” Eden said, his voice firm but controlled. Kim crossed her arms, refusing to show fear. “This is my home. I’m not doing anything wrong.” A small smile touched Eden’s lips, but it didn’t reach his eyes. “Tonight isn’t safe.” Kim felt warmth spread through her chest. Being close to him made her heart race in a way that didn’t make sense. “Why does it feel like I know you?” she asked quietly. Eden took a step closer, his voice low. “Because we are connected.” A distant howl echoed through the forest, sending chills down her spine. Kim didn’t understand what was happening, but she knew one thing for sure. Her life would never be the same again. And Alpha Eden had just marked her fate.
