Chapter Twenty

The school parking lot is unusually empty as I walk out. I had let time slip away in the library, looking for a book for my project.    The uneasiness I am getting tells me it wasn’t the right choice.   As I hadn’t shifted yet, my senses weren’t like a normal wolves’, but I could still tell someone was watching me. I pull my backpack in front of me and stash my books away in a hurry, the feeling of anxiety only increasing as footsteps approach from the distance.    I curse internally when a book drops to the ground.
