Chapter Eight

924 Words
Adrian opened the book hesitantly as he skimmed through the pages, stopping at the page that talked about the consequences of rejecting your fated mate. It read: A fated mate is the one destined for a particular Vampire from birth. The other half of your soul. It's almost next to impossible to break or neglect a fated bond. However, it's not impossible. A fated mate can only be rejected on the basis that the bond was never fully consummated but there are consequences. The one who rejects his/her fated mate would suffer pain so strong, death would become your only wish. But, the less contact a vampire makes to their mate, the lesser the pain they will have to endure. But it is impossible to avoid one's mate because the bond was meant to draw both vampire mates togeth— Adrian closed the book throwing it from his table. He didn't need a book telling him how impossible it was avoiding his fated. He was experiencing it first hand. “Stupid book.” He muttered as he looked around searching for a distraction. His eyes catch the envelope that Kyle gave him earlier that night. His eyebrows pulled together out of curiosity as he reached for the envelope. He opened it to find a flash drive inside. This made his frown deepen. Why did Carissa want him to see this flash drive? he thought, opening his laptop as he attached the drive to it. Pictures, numbers and words that looked like addresses, popped up on the screen. Emails that were sent anonymously between people that Adrian has never heard of. “What on earth is this?” Adrian mumbled. He picked up his phone as he called his assistant 'Reed.' Reed answered the phone on the first ring. “Is there something I can do for you sir?” He asked, voice heavy with sleep. “Reed, get Ralph on the phone. I want him in my office at the crack of dawn.” He ordered, ending the call. His eyes returned back to the screen. It looked like Carissa had found something she wanted to share with him, and he needed to find out what. Adrian closed his laptop and rose from his desk, exhaustion weighing on his shoulders as he left his office. When he stepped into his bedroom, he found Kyle already fast asleep. His gaze drifted over Kyle’s bare form before he could stop himself, his eyes darkening with restrained emotion. Desire surged through him, raw and immediate, and for a moment he had to fight the urge to cross the room and give in to it. Instead, he forced himself to move closer only to pull the blanket gently over Kyle. Kyle stirred, snuggling into the warmth with a soft, sleepy sigh. Adrian’s chest tightened. He longed to slide into the bed, to wrap his arms around Kyle’s small frame and run his fingers through his blond hair. But he knew he couldn’t allow himself that comfort. He had to reject Kyle. And he had to do it soon. With that thought, Adrian decided a warm shower might help ease the tightness in his muscles. He stepped into the bathroom, shed his clothes, and turned on the water. The heat washed over him like a quiet relief, a small comfort against the mental and emotional strain he’d been carrying for the past two days since Kyle’s arrival. He closed his eyes, letting the steady stream soothe him. But his mind betrayed him, drifting back to the intimate moment they’d shared earlier. The memory sent a sharp pulse through him, his body reacting before he could stop it, and a low groan slipped from his lips. “How on earth am I ever going to reject him when I can't even get him out of my head.” He grumbled, trying to ignore images of Kyle sprawled on his bed, mouth agape, eyes half closed as he fidgets, moans fall from his lips consistently as Adrian strokes his shaft. Adrian could feel himself go hard again. The warm water doing nothing to calm him down. “Dammit. He muttered, grabbing his d**k in his hands as he began to stroke himself, closing his eyes, imagining Kyle on his knees, mouth wrapped around his member, as he pound into his mouth. A quiet growl curled in his chest as he tried to suppress his desire. He stroked himself faster his imagination running wild for the first time in his life. He could almost feel Kyle pressed to a wall as he pounds into him. His breath turned ragged, he could feel himself getting close. “Fuck.”He cursed jerking as he poured his seed all over the floor. His breathing coming back to normal. Adrian rest his head on the bathroom wall. He has never wanted anyone as bad as he wanted Kyle. “Damn it.” He mumbled, shamefully laying his head on the bathroom wall. Again he had not been able to resist the temptation that was Kyle, his mate. Adrian sighed as he turned off the shower. Pulling on a pair of sweatpants, he headed into the bedroom, where Kyle lay sleeping, looking almost too beautiful in the quiet stillness. With another soft breath, Adrian walked around to the other side of the bed and slipped in, his gaze lingering on the gentle lines of Kyle’s peaceful face. Deep down, he could only hope that when the time came, he would have the strength to reject him.
