Jei got nervous when he heard footsteps coming down the hall. He moved to the edge of the small bunk trying to get a better view of who was coming down the hall. Even though he was a cell, there were chains on his feet that were connected to the wall. So he was limited to how close he could get to the bars. His heart beat with hope once he saw the Queen and prince making thier way towards him. "Jei, I believe it is, correct?" The Queen was the first to address him. He nodded. "Jei Long. Do you still have my wife detained? I don't care what you do to me...I was wrong and I'll take whatever punishment, but my sweet wife and unborn child don't deserved to be caged for my mistakes." Although Johanna did not show any emotion, she was happy he said these things. That would make it that much easier to get him to agree to her plan. "Hmmm....why don't we discuss this under more comfortable circumstances. I don't want you to agree to my terms out of distress, I need you thinking clear headed." Jei eyebrows creased, he didn't understand what she meant by agreeing to her terms."Get him suitable for the conference room and to be presented in front of the King." She advised the guards and turned on her heels to walk away. "Mother, what was all that about? are you going to release Khali?" Once they were clear of the holding cells she stopped walking and turned to face him. "Do you know her?" She asked him with a straight face. Johanna already the answer to that question was no because kahuna was not allowed outside of the castle walls without a guard. "No mother." He responded with eyebrows creased. "I just don't think an innocent woman in her condition should be treated this way." Johanna frowned "Were the guards rough with her? Is she hurt? Has she been given nourishment?" Kahuna shook his head "Not to my knowledge. and Yes I've seen to it myself that she has been well nourished." Johanna smirked "Then why are you so distressed about her situation?" His reaction was just proving to her that she had been right about him being infatuated with her. "That bed is not very comfortable and no woman in her condition should be exposed that. She also has two other children that she has not seen in a day." What was he supposed to tell her? That he was drawn to her beauty, that his hands itch with the craving to touch her soft skin, that he was unable to get her off his mind since the moment he layed eyes on her. Kahuna didn't think she was able to understand what because she was married to a man that would have her screaming in pain one night and the very next day she would go about her daily life as if nothing happened. Thier relationship couldn't been based on love. He felt like his mother was very loyal and a dutiful wife to his father through obligation only. Johanna gently lifted his chin and stared into his eyes. "Kahuna, there's something me and your father need to discuss with you." ****************************************** "I have no royal blood in my line and I'm sure Khali doesn't either. Out of all the women you could chose to perform this task for you, why my wife?" Turro could see why he would be suspicious. normal if something like this was planned it would be two families of royal background that would plan pregnancies to assure thier family bond and the continuation of a strong legacy. "Do you have doubt that we will keep our word and see to it that your family will be taken care of? I know that you are aware we are more than capable." Jei eyebrows creased and he sat back in his chair folding his arms across his chest. "I take you at your word sir. Afterall you are the king." Johanna stirred beside Turro, she wanted to say something, but he placed a firm hand on her leg and put his hand up. She exhaled dramatically, but remained silent. "Then tell me what's the problem?" Turro asked with a stern voice. He felt like Jei was going to put more demands and request more things. He didn't like greedy men. "I just want to know why you chose my wife?" Kahuna had been standing behind his parents silently listening to everything all of them had to say. "There just something irresistible about your wife, her innocence, beauty, he softness. If she passes just half of that to your unborn daughter I would consider myself the luckiest man alive." Turro couldn't contain his shock. Johanna told him the boy was infatuated, but until now he was skeptical. Jei hard demeanor melted away and a huge smile came across his face. "I see, we'll when you put it like that.....I would be honored to oblige your request." A feeling of relief washed over him, he would no longer have to worry about disappointing his family. His children would grow up secure and his youngest daughter would one day be Queen. "Where is my wife? Have you spoken to her about this yet? Can I see her now? Can I be the one to break the news to her?" He blurted out all at once unable to contain his happiness anymore. Johanna smiled and stood up. "My king I will go...." She began to address her husband respectfully, but Kahuna interrupted. "With all due respect mother, father...I would like to be the one to speak with her about this and I will show her her new home.If that's OK with you Jei." Jei could see how anxious Kahuna was, so he sat back and simply nodded. ****************************************** Kahuna didn't waste a second leaving the room, he was so thrilled he basically ran through the halls until he came to her cell. The guards were used to seeing him come to visit her over the short time she was there, so he didn't even have to ask for then to open the cell. Kahuna rushed in ready to Khali the good news. He thought he would find her busy drawing in her sketch pad she had asked him for, but she was sleeping. curled in a ball surrounded by the extra pillows he brought her this morning. He sat next to her on the bed and rubbed his hands through her way hair. She moaned softly and turned to him with a small smile. "Hey." He greeted her softly. "Come with me, I need to show you something." Khali accepted his help getting out of the bed and didn't object to him holding her hand as they walked. She wondered the whole time why he was so nice to her, but wouldn't dare question him as he was in a high position of authority. Kahuna explained his mother plan to her and showed her where she would be staying until she gave birth. They wanted her close and under the protection of the guards, so they set her up in the guest quarters of the castle. There were three rooms prepared. One for Khali, one fore Jei and one for thier children. They would have the whole floor to themselves, which included a private dining room, kitchen and it even had a large livingroom area. Khali placed her hand over her large belly and sat down on the comfortable loveseat. "So, after I give birth, Jashmeyale will stay here and we will go back home?" Kahuna c****d his head to the side and raised one eyebrow "Jashmeyale?" Khali chuckled "The name of your future wife." Kahuna blinked a few times and a smile eventually came across his face. He liked that name, it was different. "No..umm Jei will be given a job working for us, normally that would qualify you to stay in the staff quarters, but being as your the parents of the princess there will be house built for you close to the castle." Kahuna stared at her face to get an idea of what she thought about it. Khali mouth dropped open and she covered it so as not to be rude. "Are you telling me we'll live in silver lane?" That wad an area where the upper class stayed. "We couldn't afford to stay there." She blurted out. "With Jei new position on our staff you will. You will also have the backing of the royal bank in case that is not sufficient for you." It was like a dream come true for her, she threw herself onto Kahuna arms and hugged him to her tightly. "Thank you!" She whispered quietly as tears of joy streamed down her plump cheeks.
