Avery's POV
" The last and the most important promise is that you will go back after finishing your internship in Caleb's company and will never come back here again." Dadda told me breaking my heart with every single sentence he spoke.
Um.. I.. I am not in a condition to think straight right now. When he told me not to tell about my mental condition to anyone, I felt bad.. Like really really bad that he is calling me insane but I didn't think that his next promise will make me feel worse. Doesn't he want me to live here?
Why?
" Fine Dad, I promise you that I will fulfill all your wishes. " I chocked on my words and left that place as soon as possible controlling my tears which were ready to shed any time.
Next Morning
" Chiku, Where are you going? " I heard Mom's voice.
" Mum, I am going to Caleb Sir's home. I received his PA's message yesterday night asking me to go over there for some work. " I told her.
" But why he is calling you at his house? There's no need to go there." She ordered making me feel agitated.
" How would I know, Mom? " I snapped at her being completely pissed off now.
" Cool down, but don't go alone, take Ryan with you as Jayden has gone for some urgent meeting so he can't go with you. " She told me making my blood extra boil.
" He also has his works, Mom and can't always roam around me like a bodyguard. He has been invited for an audio chat show so he will busy whole day. " I informed her suppressing my urge to lash out on her.
" Then take bodyguards along with you but please don't go alone. " I heard her say. Now that was enough, I couldn't bear more of it.
" I am his assistant, Mom and have to follow his instructions. Why all of you are behind me only? First Dadda and then you. Don't you guys trust me? If you had told me earlier not to come here then I would have never come.
Why you people don't allow me to go anywhere alone? You people even never let me meet our relatives. I am not a kid anymore. Why Mom? Why? Are you people embarrassed of me because you think that I am not normal? Is that what you all think Mom? You always send bodyguards behind me and if not bodyguard then bro and Ryan.
Why you all are behaving like this? You were not like this two years back then. Moreover, I am not mental. No.. I am completely normal just like you people. I.. I.. I can't.. I.. " I chocked on my words before darkness engulfed me.
Caleb's POV
" Caleb son, come fast everybody is asking for you." My mum called me as all the our business associates and guests arrived in the garden area for the Christmas party.
" Only 2 minutes mom, Just coming." I told her and went back to DD instructing him to call Ms. Jones once again.
After few minutes, I reached in the garden area and stood beside my parents who passed me a satisfactory smile seeing me there with them.
Whole garden was decorated with fairy lights along with a theme of red and white. There was a six tier red velvet cake and a humongous Christmas tree amidst the whole crowd enhancing the beauty of the place.
I am not a party monger but this is the least I can do for my parents so with this thought I came here. After a little bit chit chat with all the big shot business man and few girls who were ready to throw themselves at me and the Christmas jingles and carols, the party went over.
Around 9 p.m
" I truly appreciate that you came here. We thought that you won't be here as you had never celebrated any festival or birthday after she left us. We know it's difficult for you but we should never forget that life goes on with or without people. After that incident you never laughed whole - heartedly.
We know that you were rude and arrogant back then too but still you laughed. But now you have become like a corpse who is just breathing. Caleb, for whom are we building such a big empire when my only son has forgotten to live. We all want only your happiness that's it. Are we demanding something wrong which you can't afford to give us?" Dad said caressing my hair as I laid down on his lap. Tears brimmed in our eyes.
Who says man can't cry? We can and we should, as we are humans too. Moreover, showing our emotions is a sign of us being alive and we are alive too as we are breathing.
" Dad, do you think that I never miss you? I don't care for you all. No.. It's not like that. I too miss my family. I too want to give all the happiness to my family. But I am not able to get over my past.
Everybody says that girls are quite emotional and sensitive regarding their life partner but we men too are very much affected by our life partners. It's just that we are expert in hiding our emotions. We too need time to cope up with our emotions. " I rubbed my tears from the back of my sleeves as I sobbed.
" Baby.. Sh.. Don't cry. Look, there is darkness all around but it doesn't mean that it will always remain dark once the sun will rise there will be complete brightness. You just have to be a little bit patient. " Dad said as he engulfed me in a tight hug, like really very very tight as he consoled me.
" But my sun has gone very far away from me Dad and it will never rise." I whispered drenching his shirt with my tears.
" Even if the Sun does not rise, then there is still, Moon which will illuminate your life with all it's light. You just have to bring that moon in your life. " My eyes flickered with a new ray of hope as his words registered in my brain.
" I promise you Dad that I will never hurt my family due to someone whether intentionally or unintentionally. There is no fault of you people in all this then why should I make you all suffer. Now I will do whatever that will make my family please and be like old Caleb who can go to any extent for his family. I had realised my mistakes, trust me dad." I raised my head from his shoulder and wiped my tears while cupping his face.
" I trust you, son. Now, stop crying otherwise your mom will sue me. " He whispered while patting my back.
" You are still scared of Mom. Be a man, Dad. " I chuckled.
" If I am not a man, then what do you think how are you born? " He asked raising his eye brow.
" What are you teaching to my son? Don't spoil his innocence by teaching him such things. " Mom interrupted him as she came with a plate full of sandwiches and coffee while I tried to suppress my laughter.
" Yeah, Yeah.. as if your innocent son doesn't know about anything. " He complained as he was taking the mug of coffee.
" Whatever " Mom murmered and started ruffling my hair as I was busy savouring the yummy snacks made by her.
As I was busy chit chatting with them, my mobile pinged with a message from DD.
Sir, Ms. Avery Jones is neither receiving our calls nor replying us despite sending umpteenth messages.
" If you are so much busy then I think I should personally go to surprise you Avery. "
