Chapter 11

Emerald's eyes opened at 5am, minutes before her alarm sounded. Everyday, apart from weekends, She woke up at this time so her brain was used. She felt a hand around her waist and turned slowly. She looked at Marek as he slept, he had a well structured face, long lashes covered his deep brown eyes. His face looked so relaxed, She smiled as She thought about how he looks like awake. His eyes are so observant and he speaks out whatever amuses or makes him mad, he will not be afraid to say it. She often laughed when he did that because she wasn't like that at all. She liked keeping stuff to herself a lot. She wasn't used to sharing anything.

Her alarm suddenly went off and Marek opened his eyes, catching her red handed staring at him. She gasped, embarrassed at being found like that. His face showed surprise and he immediately smiled then closed them again. She laughed, switched off her alarm and told him to wake up. The look in his eyes caught Emerald offguard. His eyes were bright like a kid's who had been given a chance to select candy in a candy store. Maybe that's how all guys were when they woke up, She had never woken up earlier than a guy and started staring at them. That was very weird and that is what She had been caught doing. What was he going to think?

He groaned and turned in the bed facing away from her. She got up and let him sleep. She went to the bathroom, showered and dressed then made eggs and bread for breakfast, which She later remembered, couldn't eat. She came out of the kitchen to tell him to get up and found he had already gone to the bathroom. He came out half dressed and She stared. "Good Morning,baby." He greeted her in his loud voice. s**t! There goes my heart, body and soul. She was supposed to tell him he had breakfast in the kitchen but her eyes couldn't stop secretly looking and She was definitely drooling inside. She squeaked a small Morning and went back to the kitchen. She looked at her eggs and they seemed tempting, She wasn't supposed to eat so She left the kitchen and went back to ask him if he wanted breakfast. He affirmed and She told him to go to the kitchen.

One hour later, they were waiting for the taxi to take them to the subway. They sat together on the couch with fingers intertwined. Neither wanted to let go, they both felt very comfortable with the other. Even in silence, Marek kept giving her kisses on the cheek, hair and forehead. He wanted her to know he was there.

The car finally came and they went downstairs and sat silently for a few minutes then Marek started telling her stories and making her laugh. He really knew her well, She was laughing unstoppably and teasing him about his age because he was behaving like a four year old. They finally arrived at the their subway stop and prepared to get off. All this time, Marek's hand never left hers. If he wasn't holding her waist, his fingers were around hers or his hand was on her thigh the whole one hour ride.

They walked slowly towards the hospital. Every step closer felt like Emerald's doomsday. She had a lot of questions in her head. She knew what She was going to do was not right, but She had thought about all options and unless Alex had agreed to be there with her through her pregnacy, there was no other way out. She got quieter with each step with Marek's hand squeezing hers once in a while. She distructed herself by telling him about the buildings in China, how that place was cheaper than the other places in Beijing because it seemed kind of far from the city Center.

They finally reached the hospital and entered. Emerald still hadn't confirmed if Alex was coming. So, when Alex said he would look around the area, She readily agreed so she could talk to Alex alone, incase he came. She texted the doctor who told her to go straight to the reception and meet her. She did that and the doctor came, they exchanged greetings and the doctor took her to another room. She was shaking, nothing had been done yet and She was almost losing her mind. She went for all checkups, blood, urine and a scan. She had to wait downstairs for the results then She would proceed.

Alex hadn't come, he sent a last minute message saying he was embarrassed and had sent money. Emerald was relieved because she really didn't want to come face to face with her worst mistake. She silently went downstairs and Marek was seated in the sofas at the reception. He saw her and held out his arms, She went to him and sat down while he hugged her.

"What have they said?" He asked.

"I've to wait for some results then they will continue." They had given her tablets and other Chinese medicine for her recovery.

"So, are you sure about this?" He didn't know why he was even asking. It's not that he would help her, because who knew, they would never see eachother again. But if this was his girlfriend and She was pregnant, he would take responsibility and be there no matter what. He had wanted to really see that guy and wanted to beat him up for his stupidity.

"Do I have a better option?" Emerald asked in resignation. She had given up already but all She wanted was for a hero to come and take her far away and tell her everything will be alright. Only that moment never came. Two hours later, they called her and Marek said he would come along. The nurses there had probably already named him her boyfriend, because which woman comes to a hospital with a man who wasn't her brother. They went to the second floor and entered a room that had two beds inside. The nurse told them that's where She would rest after surgery. She told Marek to stay there and wait for his girlfriend while she took a confused Emerald. She looked at him one last time and smiled. He smiled back and sat down on the bed.

"What have I gotten myself into!" He wondered to himself as he brought his head down in his hands. He didn't mind hospitals but he sure hated surgeries. Those weren't his thing, now he had to stay here and wait for a girl he didn't even know return from a surgery, not just any surgery. An abortion. What if something happened to her, what would he do? Good enough Xiao hui knew but that wasn't enough for him. He really felt a great anger for that stupid guy who had made her pregnant. If only he could come in contact with him, he wouldn't know what he would do. s**t s**t s**t! He felt screwed but he was already here, he had to stay. He was an MMA fighter, had seen and been in worse situations. All he had to do was wait.

Emerald entered the surgery room and looked around in embarrassment. There were a total of six female doctors. Her heart beat as she moved towards the bed She was supposed to lay on, maybe if She hadn't already undressed, She would have run out of there without looking back. But a picture of her in a hospital gown with her naked black butt sticking out wasn't an option for her. A doctor She presumed was the surgeon told her in chinese to lie down and put her legs up. This was the worst embarrassment ever. She could stand one gynecologist looking under her skirts or even a stranger She was sleeping with, but six Female chinese nurses was too much for her. She just closed her eyes and wished for everything to be over. They put oxygen over her nose then whatever other thing they used which blacked her out.
