Chapter 6

Emerald was looking on as the kids ate their dinner. Chinese schools usually had their dinner by 4:20pm before the parents came at 5:00pm to pick their kids and took them home. Her phone buzzed in her hand signaling a message. She checked her wechat app and had a request from Marek? And a message from Xiao hui asking her to accept his request and asking her what time She would be done with classes. Emerald first replied Xiao hui and told her She would be done by 5pm as usual, then Xiao hui asked her to please meet Marek at the Olympic Forest Park. Emerald didn't have a problem with that, She was actually somewhat grateful She had company as She waited until 8pm for Xiao hui to finish her classes in the apartment. She then accepted Marek's request and asked him where he was.

He texted back with the location and She told him She would be there probably by 6pm because it was an estimate of half an hour from her school. He replied that it was okay with a smiley. Emerald sent a smiley back and focused back on her kids.

Her heart was kind of beating so fast, She hadn't seen him during day time. Maybe he wasn't that handsome. What She really wanted to see were the eyes. She had a few Polish friends and She always loved their eyes, especially the guys. Did he have grey, green, blue or Brown eyes? She wondered to herself and then frowned, what the heck was She thinking. He's handsome and you know it. "Shut up." She told her subconscious.

Her current situation and these feelings didn't mix. She had sworn off men after She found out that She was pregnant. In the beginning She was excited and unbelieving. She had tried to have a baby before and it hadn't worked out. Her cousin one day called her infertile and She was hurt, because her boyfriend then had wanted a child and he had a child to prove he wasn't sterile. Emerald had tried again when she had come to China and the doctor had told her She couldn't because her monthly cycle was an irregular and complicated one. She had then given up, and then a one night Stand rewards her with this.

When She had texted the guy, She thought he would deny it, but surprisingly he was so supportive and had asked for her opinion, at first She told him She would keep it, then later She thought how She would raise a baby without a Dad. Her sister, being a single Mum, knew the experience and She never encouraged it. She then thought about how She would continue to live in China on a student visa and pregnant, She knew that wouldn't be possible. She then thought about which school would hire her if they knew She was pregnant. All ponderings returned empty, She had only one way out. The dreaded abortion, which was legal in China though. But thinking about it, Emerald had lost so much weight, She was so confused on what to do. She had decided to contact her doctor friend Mr. Wang, who lived in Wuhan and he had gotten her a hospital in Beijing. She had already made an appointment for Friday and Alex, the one night Stand guy had agreed to go with her and share the cost.

Emerald was called out of her thoughts by her assistant teachers who were telling the kids to go pee and wash their face and hands. Time rushed so fast in China. Soon, it was 5 and the parents were taking their kids home. Emerald said Goodbye to most of them then rushed to the subway, which good enough was just a 3 minutes walk to the school.

She texted Marek asking him if he was still there and he replied that he was. She checked the location and found the station and the exit She had to use. Her battery was running low and she hadn't charged her phone in school. She hoped by the time She reached him, her phone would still be on otherwise there was no way they would meet.

She entered the subway, passed through the security and rushed to swipe her card. She took the escalators and went down, lucky enough, the train was just approaching. It opened and She entered, She wondered how Marek had reached Olympic Forest park. It was quite far from their apartment, had he walked, because the taxi was totally out of option since he didn't know the language. Didi taxi could Ofcoarse work and had an English version but that was a long process, you had to be registered with a chinese bank account. She would ask him that question, after all, She was to see him in 10 more minutes from now.

She wondered what he thought of her. Did he think She was a slut? What with all the one night stands talk yesterday and then the pregnancy then the abortion? She wouldn't judge though if it was another person. That's the kind of person She was, never judged until given a reason to. She was just doing Xiao hui a favor anyway, She didn't want to get involved at all. Infact, if She had had a say, She would have stayed away. But fate...It had a way of weaving peoples' lives. From one stop to another to the next until one reached their destination.

Emerald got out of the subway and used exit E, She found a taxi and showed them the address. She sat and texted Marek to stay where he was because She was on the way. The taxi took her a bit far from the actual location. For someone who practically never got lost, her pride was bruised, Marek texted her and Said he was coming out of the gate. Emerald used that same taxi to drop her off at the gate of the Forest park. She paid him and got out then called Marek. He answered on the second ring.

"Where are you?" She asked.

"I just came out of the gate and turned right." Oh s**t, his deep Polish accent. She had totally forgotten about that. It sounded rough but Sexy as hell, also to add the fact that his English was shitty as well.

She smiled and said, "Come back to the gate. That's where I am now."

"I see you." He exclaimed. Was that relief and excitement she heard in his voice? She looked up and sure enough, as he approached her, his face looked so tired but his eyes held so much relief and he was smiling. Emerald's heart beat even faster. "s**t!" She exclaimed in a whisper as he neared her.

"My Savior, My Angel." His accent washed over Emerald as his voice was that of great relief, he swooped down giving her a bear hug. He was Mighty freakin tall and his hug felt Oh so f*****g good. She was a goner. There was close to no explanation on the raging emotions that were brewing in her already troubled heart. s**t! s**t! s**t! Apparently, those were the only sane words she could utter out, not loudly Ofcoarse. She had lost all the will to reason and to speak. She returned his smile when he finally let go of her.

"So, where do we go?" He suddenly cheerfuly and loudly asked.
