Third Millennia

1012 Words
A slight hint of reality can often be disappointing,  some faith's aren't always destined, there is always the urge of more for humanity. Some of us can't bare to see such flaws some refuse,  i wake up everyday seeing  rust, i wake in a place not of home, instead in this barren place of refuge. A sight one can only imagine, a sight of rough walls covered with poster's of what we once called home, pictures of people we rarely even see. Some of the lucky ones have been here for months, unlike us who've been here for years. Walking down the hallway as if walking on a raging stream, a glimmer of hope is to blame. "Zed...hey Zed, youre turn" "W-what" "I said YOU'RE  Turn, the MG" "Oh on my way then" As i drag my feet on the floor, more and more do i realize that this might just be my last glimpse of hope, these walls and that MG i scorn to hear. Sounds i hear every day every second ticking...just ticking. In my sleep i am spared, in my sleep is see them, i hear them, i...I feel them, but...for us this is just commodity.  Cause who can rest knowing the existence of such monstrosities,  abominations of neglect and ego of our society. One can't help but close the eyes as they might open to the horrors of humanities bane, its weakness is its greed. As only a couple centuries ago our numbers only reached  half a billion, using only the most rudimentary of tools, but due to humans natural agressiveness and greed, they culled themselves to war and plague. Humanity showing its sympathy to itself, opened its eyes to the realization that death is a unforgiving sight.  Humanity now in relative peace, numbers reaching almost a hundred of a billion.  Nature being the one to bring balance had its own ways of culling our infestation as decease after decease followed by disasters. Shooting down creatures different from their original forms, some so deformed like the living reincarnation of your nightmare, eyes closed, teeth gritting, I guess thats the only way to do it. The unnerving sight of those you once called brothers dangle from a monstrosity of stretching flesh and bone, reaching heights that of buildings. With every step turning vivid into decay, frequent screams of those who still have they're minds reaching out from all the flesh and bone, this... a frequent sight not to awe, but to fear, as mutants of such size seem unbeatable. Thick carapace of bone as if armour,  stretching limbs that turn creatures from the size of, ants to beast the size of elephant's, consuming ever-growing. Stench unbearable, stench that of reanimated corpse that number in the thousands. Normal munitions deal no damage, incendiary rounds on the other hand, deals almost permanent damage with bombs, missiles and flame throwers as a main and final weapon of humanity, or so it seems. The abnormalities of some situations pushed humanity to the southern, Eastern and western coast of Africa, as failed experimentation on these obscene creatures, lead to further catastrophe, leaving no hope but to hold and exterminate such fiends in control. Kaden Nikhil z-612 (Zed), a family man who chose to be of service to be able to protect  his family and others. He has had multiple friends along the years friends he no longer see. Trained in the simplistic of way, as they were trained to pull the trigger and other specialties such as those who are to be sent to the frontlines, engineering medical, Marksmanship, and simple support backline units such of munitions, artillery and machine crew. All of these were the simplest of jobs as the worst ones aren't known to anyone. "BREACH!" Kaden, alarmed of what he heard looked back "What's going on ?" "Keep shooting I'll che- *KRA-KATOOM* Words interrupted by a massive explosion, gunfire screams and chaos never seem more prominent than that moment. "Need... to... get... U-up" Kaden noticed that his legs were lodged inside the debris, in attempt to dislodge himself, he screams in agony as his legs were all but torn, a piece of steel pierced one of his legs, he was late to recognize this and when he did, a strong surge of pain overwhelmed him and fell unconscious due to shock. "...ed...z...ed...ZED!, Do you Copy" Kaden woke to the Voice of on of his comrade "Zed, where are you" "I...I don't know, i-ii-ts Dark and I can't feel my legs" "okay, stay calm, so you're under the debris...is anyone near you-do you see anyone ?" "No it's dark and I don't hear anyone else" "Listen, we have fallen back to sec- "WHAT, you Mean I'm Alone Here !?!" "LISTEN, do you have your equipment with you" "Yes, I think...*worriedly check's* Ye-yes" "Ok, ok if y...ant to..g...t.ou.*static* "I lost him...I need to get out" Struggling, Kaden tries to push debris over, but to no effect, he tried punching, and slamming the concrete but once again, no effect... After hours of attempts he finally falls asleep... A commodity he rarely ever had. Dreams, the gift of the unconscious mind, some say that dreams reach deeper than what we can understand, prophetic dreams are one of these phenomena no one can explain. Though dreaming can show those you love and those you care for, as they are the one's you always think of. "Kaden, come back, we miss you..." Nadya, Kaden's wife, a simple minded caring woman in her thirties, Nadya and Kaden have a son and unborn daughter, his son's name is Dante a six year old while his daughter remains unnamed, still, hope lives on. "Kaden... Come back..." Suddenly an eerie sensation was felt below the waist, a sense of a creeping plague attached itself, ever spreading like fire through the Forrest's, waking him in his slumber, then... *KATOOM* As flashes of light shaped explosions and rays of plasma and smoke cover the skies, silhouettes of men covered in iron March through the ruins donning flags of unified man.
