Amongst the pile of the dead

Burrowing Conflict

The Battlefield is a unforgiving sight, blood gushing, bullets flying, one moment you're talking  to someone the next he's being lacerated and split into two. The battlefield is also not a place for thinking,  instead, its a place of reflex and action. There's no room for hesitation, you need to be ready and prepared to kill. Man kind in its past was ready, it was prepared and it had the power to stop any threat, or i guess thats what they say, once in the past that we could reach the stars and not just look at them from the ground, but if were like that, then... Why are we here... Why be in hell when we can reach the heavens.

Men unseen before by Kaden clash against the monstrosities, flame engulfed the earth rockets and gunships filled the skies as did smoke, some in order to compensate the immense strength of the mutants wore suits to enhance their physical capabilities, dashing across the battlefield, wielding guns and specialised close quarter weapons resembling blades but with an orange glow, immobilising mutants 50 times bigger than them, Kaden sits up to get a better grasp of what he is in seeing silhouettes of people running towards him, he immediately screams "Help" as loud as he can bear and waving his arms repeatedly. The silhouettes appear getting closer and as they got closer he began to realize that those were no longer men he immediately stops waving instead he starts to forcibly dislodge his foot, since his left thigh was already impaled and numb he begins to forcibly lift the one huge piece of debris, and as he imagined it was painful and he knew that doing this will cause permanent damage and even him losing a limb.

Then suddenly, he heard, he felt  and he saw, a sudden shower of bullets, to one even landing next to him, leaving an extremely powerful impact to a point that turned concrete back to dust. Afterwards he noticed  that these men wore a crest unknown, as they run pass me one of them decided to help me in my endeavor.

"Are ye Okey bruv"

"Please Help me my left leg must be impaled, I can't feel it anymore"

"Oh, yeah, it is, wait I'll beat it for ye"

"Wait who are ye aga-

Kaden felt an immense ray of heat surround him, heat so much so that it suffocates him as he now realized what had happened, a behemoth of a mutant lay a shadow darker than his own, the screams of the the victims cried out as he watch his Irish comrade get torn in half while being consumed by the flame like flesh.

"STAND GROUND!!"

A officer trying his best to regain the courage of his broken and routing men.

Armed to the teeth, he seemed as though he fought a thousand battles, his left arm seam to be mechanical rather than flesh, the plates of his armour filled with scars and dents, so much so that the plates on his arms no longer has the paint it once had.

Then, they arrived, another unit unknown utilizing engines, I've never seen vehicles like so, charging against the the enemy from under, then they start blasting from under, splitting the behemoth in two, collapsing.

I started to wave and scream again as the chaos moved away, a member of the machine crew removed the debris from my legs they picked me up moving me to more secure place and I saw the medical crew scatter to what I can only imagine as ungodly pile of the dead, in hopes to save some unwavering souls still clinging to whats left of them, the battlefield covered with unidentifiable remains, blood as well.

"Z-612, is that right"

"Yes sir, that's me"

"Well, that can't be right"

"W-why so"

"Says here your dead, here look"

"KIA... Wait... What?"

"Says here that communication lost, no body recovered, and last contacted two months ago?, Sir we have a straggler"

Kaden took the information with a pale face, thinking what the hell happened to him

"Sir that can't be right, I clearly remember talking To my friend via radio"

The officer from before approaches him, covered in splatters of blood and ash.

"Well whatever happened to you, you have nowhere to go now, look, you're entire company was innihilated"

"Their last mission was to recover the entrenchment"

"no... So what now am I gonna see my family again"

"You see, we lost contact with everyone last week, everyone is busy, while you were sleeping, we were out here busting our asses, long story short we lost they already reached the Indian sea"

"Wait, what about my Family, I have a wife and two kids, I-i nee-"

"Look whoever they are they are probably dead, the great leaders split, entirety of Asia, America's and Europe are at war with each other China joined America and Australia is with Asia , basically everything has gone to s**t while you were sleeping, plus with those legs it's better if we just left you to rot, just a waste of medicine"

"I... I think it is better... for me to rot, I...i have nothing to turn to, nothing else..."

"Well now that I think about it, there is one place you can't fit in, Mace patch him up then bring him to me"

"Ight, imma chop him real good" *pulls out suitcase*

"Wait what"

"Now, this gonna be a lil painful"

Kaden was not given anesthesia, instead he was tied down and later annoyed one of the soldiers around him knocking him Out.

unbeknownst of Kaden, he was joining the company with the highest casualty rate...

An hour passed... At least it seems so, I saw a hand reach out to me, but I'm yet to know who, it suddenly turned red but I'm yet to know why, then everything was nothing and everything was blue, but then... It's gone again.

Kaden wakes up bumping his head to the joggle of the vehicle he was suddenly in.

"Wakey wakey, eyes open pretty boy, your on the death bus"

The crowd of soldiers start to Laugh, some nervously.

"The death bus? "

"You've seen what happens rookies, right?,I believe I saw the previous Zed headed towards  you before he gets anihilated by the behemoth"

"What?"

Noise of what seems to be gunshots are getting closer causing discomfort to Kaden

"Uhh... Where are we going?!?"

"Calm down, the big guy to my right is our Gus

"Hrm... *mumbling* "

"Four eyes here is our Cross, don't let those glasses fool you he can shoot from a mile away"

"I don't guarantee hitting it though haha...ha..."

The Mace guy appears on the screen in the front of the vehicle.

"Move out Maaaaggots, I always wanted to sa- the intercom cuts"

Then the two doors open and his new comrade Gus pushes him out welcoming him to the scene of blood and smoke.
