Aurora's POV
“So you want to say that your knuckles are injured because you fell somewhere.”
I shook my head at his excuse. Taking a deep sigh, I held his hand and glared at him.
“Let's go to the doctor. You need to get a bandage first and then you can give me fake excuses.”
“No, don't even try to give me more excuses. You would only get scars and then you have to hide them.”
Alvis tried to free his hand but getting my glare, he bowed his head muttering, “She doesn't look like a controlling type.”
“Do you have your car? Or a bike?” I asked through my gritted teeth.
“Of course, I have my sports car. Do you think I would have walked here from my place?” Alvis rolled his eyes as I narrowed my eyes.
“Very funny. I came with my boyfriend so I thought you might also be with your girlfriend and then something might happen.”
“I don't have a girlfriend. Umm, I never talked with any girl except you. Didn't you notice how weird I am? Such weird and complicated guys don't get girlfriends,” Alvis turned his face as I widened my eyes and later chuckled.
“I would find a girlfriend for you.”
“No need as I like someone else but she has a boyfriend. So I don't think I have any chance. Moreover, having a girlfriend would be a headache for him,” Alvis sighed, bowing his head.
“Oh! Sorry.”
“I liked her since I first saw her but recently I found out she has a boyfriend. It is sad but it is okay. Also, somewhere it's a relief that she won't like Asher as others do.”
I arched my brows at his mention of Asher. He opened his red sports car's door and extended his hand towards the seat.
“I never let anyone sit in my car but as you are my friend, I would let you have a seat. Be comfortable.”
“Thank you, and yes, you are a gentleman unlike Asher but Alvis, you shouldn't, again and again, compare yourself to him. You are better than him.”
I said this because of Asher’s so-called good reputation. Hang on! Why am I bitching about Asher like this? If this continues, Alvis and I can open a hate club.
Without saying anything Alvis closed the door and sat in the driving seat.
“I won't ever do so and thank you for saying that I am a nice guy.”
I smiled, leaning my head against my seat but then I immediately kept my hand on his steering wheel.
“How would you drive?”
“I would do so. Don't worry as you don't look good in tension.”
I closed my eyes and turned my face and fidgeted my fingers as I am not used to getting praise. But this guy always makes me respect myself.
Half an hour later, we both came near his car.
“Happy now?”
Alvis lifted his hand showing me a bandage around his hand.
I chuckled, recalling how Alvis was trying to run away from the doctor just like a kid. How he agreed, I just promised to give him my number. So we can hang out more though I don't have any mobile on me.
“You know Aura, you are adamant.”
Alvis shrugged his shoulders, sitting at his car's bonnet as I stood wrapping my hand around my chest.
“Macey says the same,” I grinned.
“Now who is this woman?” Alvis arched his brows as I shook my head and sat beside him.
“My best friend whom I love a lot. And did you know she only forced me to give an interview otherwise I was going to run away?”
“f**k her,” Alvis muttered.
“What?” I arched my brows and eyed him.
“A slip of the tongue. You say how was your job interview.”
“I don't remember telling you about my job?”
“You only did a few seconds. Did you forget?” Alvis shook his head and closed his eyes.
“Umm, it was fantastic. And to your dismay, I am going to work under your enemy, Asher Patrick.”
I pressed my lips together and turned my face.
“It is bad that you would work under him as he is not a good guy but I am happy that I am going to see you frequently.”
“Is it but how? Do you work there? Or are you his sibling?”
“Sibling? That to me? Never. And I don't even need to work. I have everything at my fingertips.”
“Okay, rich boy! Why do you hate Asher so much? And should I not work under him?”
“I don't want to be a sandwich between you both. There are already so many problems in my life. I don't want guy's problems.”
“It is Asher and my secret. We can't ever tell this to others, not even to you. So sorry.”
“And about work, it should be your decision. I am not going to interfere but yes Aura, never trust him. He lies a lot and traps women in his charms.”
“Also, Aura, I promise you because of my existence you would never face any problem though I can't assure you about him.”
“Thank you for your suggestion. I am not going to fall into any trap.”
“Umm, Asher also dislikes you? Or it is one-sided,” I asked with some confusion.
“Mutual feelings. Well, Aura, it's too late. Let me drop you at your home and yes, never ask about me from him,” Alvis jumped from his place and extended his hand towards me.
“I would always protect you, unlike your boyfriend. Also, remember, I won't ever harm you. So I hope you will never misjudge me even if someday you find some secret.”
I held his hand and stepped down and gave him an assuring smile.
“I know how to keep friendships but Alvis, I am putting my faith in you. So I hope you won't ever betray me as, after Macey, you became my friend.”
Alvis hummed after a few seconds.

Asher's POV
“Your medicine and coffee,” Nick, my housekeeper said, as I woke up holding my head.
“Keep them,” I muttered, stepping down from my bed.
I moved towards the mirror and checked my face.
“I look fine for the first time,” I shrugged my shoulders and took my coffee but then I stared at my hand.
“Bandage?” I arched my brows and widened my eyes.
Now from this bandage came? Gosh! What is happening nowadays?
In the meantime, my mobile rang, breaking my trances.
“Good morning, sir, I have sent you Ms. Carter's and another candidate's interview clip.”
Listening to Aurora's mention, I recalled how she didn't identify me at the beginning and as a result, my lips broke in a smile.
“Send it also you should fix their one more interview with me. I don't want to take any risks like last time.”
I recall how last time I left the whole responsibility of my assistant hiring on to management. As a result, I got a makeup artist as my assistant.
“Sure sir,” my manager said, hanging the call.
It's going to be fun to see Aurora again. Ms. Carter, let's see how today you are going to surprise me.
***********
“You would get the result soon,” I leaned against my seat as Henry stood. He is the candidate whose interview I missed along with Aurora.
“Thank you, Mr. Patrick,” Henry said.
I hummed with a genuine smile as he left. Now it was time for Aurora's entry.
I wonder what mess she is going to make today though I am impressed after seeing her clip. She was confident and honest with her points.
“May I come in, Mr. Patrick?”
Aurora was standing at the door. She was looking pretty in a white top and matching skirt with a simple chain. She tied her in a ponytail that was making her cute.
There was a file in her hand and nervousness over her face.
“Come in,” I said, quickly fixing my gaze on my laptop as she stared into my eyes with something weird.
Aurora came inside, greeted me. I hummed and signaled her to take a seat. She smiled a bit but her smile faded away seeing my hand. I immediately kept my down and sat properly.
“So you always got the first position throughout your high school and university. Also, you did two summer internships in well-known companies. Your work was good but there is a negative point mentioned.”
“Do you want to clear it before we proceed?”
“I can clear it,” Aurora composed her face.
“I used to get late sometimes because of some issues but I can assure you that I would never be late if I get the chance of working under you as I know you like perfection.”
“Is it? So you searched about me this time. What more do you find out about me?”
“You become adamant when you want some deal. Also, you never give a second chance to anyone. Most importantly, Mr. Patrick, you love taking the risk. That's why two years ago you purchased two companies even though their marketing value was less.”
“However you made both companies one of the highest marketing value companies through your strategies.”
I closed her file and moved from my place.
“Mr. Patrick, since you acquired two companies, I wanted to work under you. I want to learn a lot from you.”
“Still you didn't identify me,” I stood behind her chair and kept my hand over her chair, and twirled it towards me.
“Why did you give me a look when you saw a bandage in my hand? Was it a pity? Or something else.”
“Also when you matched your eyes with me, you gave me a different look. What was it?”
Aurora blinked her lashes and opened her mouth. Her lips were shivering so her entire body.
“I don't want to lie, Ms. Carter, as I hate liars.”
“Your bandage made me recall a friend. Last night, he was injured, so he went to the pharmacy with me. Your bandage is similar to his bandage. So for a fraction of a second, I become confused.”
“Nothing else.”
“And about that weird look, it was just that for a fraction of a second I imagined someone else; friend.”
“Friend? Who?” I arched my brows.
Does she have some connection with Alvis? If she has, her presence can be dangerous for me.
No, if she knew Alvis, she would not be sitting here. Alvis might have harmed her.
Yes, Alvis whom I despise a lot, perhaps even more than my father.
“I am not supposed to tell you about my friends. Please respect my friends and my privacy.”
“And I am telling the truth. Why should anyone even feel pity for you? You have everything that others desire, a home, no cruel family, and money.”
“So a girl like me can only get jealous of you, not other emotions she can offer to you except respect.”
I moved away from her and kept my hands in my pocket.
“Ms. Carter, you can go. We will inform you about the result within a week.”
“But you didn't ask me much.”
Aurora fidgeted her fingers. I eyed her as she left.
To be continued.
