Chapter Twenty-three It had been the toughest two weeks of Nancy’s life. The case was s**t, her boss was climbing down her throat every time he saw her, and somewhere the Elevator r****t was laughing at her. She knew it and had begun taking the stairs just to avoid seeing the chief. Lucky for her, a conference in Omaha had kept him out of the station recently, but not far enough away that he didn’t text her several times a day for a status update. Said the mayor was climbing up his butt to catch the bastard and s**t rolled downhill. Who knew a detective could be at the bottom of a s**t pile?
