Jessie’s POV.
How could I somehow have forgotten that Liam had some kind of weird effect on me? He looked good, just like he always has! Even now, with his dark hair effortless falling wavy on top of his head after having just woken up. Being 6’6 feet tall and broad like the first class quarterback that he is, I'm almost drooling. From the first time I began looking at boys at anything other than an annoyance, I’ve known that specimens like Liam don't come by often. Sadly for him, I’ve always just been Marc’s little sister or, even worse, one of the guys! Not that it matters anyway, even if I wasn’t Marc’s sister, I’m nowhere near to his type. He’s always been into the girly girls, and to say the least, I’m anything but. Just look at me now, standing here in my big sweatshirt and, yes, I have on tight jeans but the shirt is so big and long that it goes to mid thigh. I’m wearing running shoes, and a cap with my curly hair in a bun sticking out in the back. Growing up as the only girl in the house, I quickly got more into cars and sports, than makeup and dresses. What can I say? It is what it is..
Within an hour, we are all sweating and done unloading and all my stuff has been brought up to my apartment. Dad had already said his goodbyes and see you soons, gave both me and Marc big hugs and went back home. I’m standing in my new living room s***h kitchen with boxes everywhere around me, letting go of a long breath taking in my new surroundings. I'm going to be happy here, I can just feel it. “That’s the wrong way, duma$$!” I chuckle as I hear the boys arguing in the bedroom while putting together my new bed frame. “You guys need a hand?” I say while moving towards the room, stopping in the doorway almost laughing at the site. They’ve put together half already and Liam is trying to screw the other side on, and Marc is barely holding the thing in place with one hand while texting on his phone with the other. “Peanut, get over here and take over from your brother.. he’s useless.” My heart flutters a little as he uses his nickname for me. Ever since we were little kids and my dad always called me sweet pea, Liam decided that Peanut were more accurate since I apparently was more salty than sweet. I go over and bump Marc out of the way with my hip so I can hold the side up while Liam screws it in. “See now, that’s teamwork!” He gives me a wink before standing up straight and hitting my brother on the shoulder. “Wanna get your nose out of your phone, so we can get the mattress in here and be done with this?” Liam asks my brother “Sure, bro. just texting Dylan to get the information about the party tonight!” There’s a party tonight? For a second, I get all nervous thinking about my first party here in the city. The guys keep talking while walking out to get the mattress, and in no time they are back with it and putting it in place. “Whew, I don’t know about you guys but I’m gonna go hit the shower at our place.. Moving is a great workout!” Liam says over his shoulder, already half out the door. “Thanks for the help.” I yell after him. “Anytime, Peanut.” and he’s out.
“Well, Sis, I’m gonna leave the unpacking of boxes to you, all your furniture is assembled, and ready for use. I’m also gonna head back. There’s a party tonight and I need a nap after all this work. Just give a holla if you need anything.” He stands there for a second just smiling at me, before pulling me in for a hug. “I’m so glad you’re here! I have missed having you around all the time.” He gives me a kiss on my hair before letting me go. I give him a big affectionate smile. “Thanks bro! Happy to finally be here, and I’ve sort of maybe missed you too.” I tease.. “You couldn’t live without me, and you know it” He winks before also walking out of my apartment. I sigh, looking around at all the boxes I need to unpack, guess I don’t have time to go to a party anyways, not that it seems like I was invited… I feel a little pang of disappointment.

It’s been four hours since the guys left, and I’ve unpacked all my kitchen stuff, clothes and toiletries and stuff, only a few boxes left unpacked containing some books, movies and other stuff. I feel hunger taking over me and decide to go out and find something to eat, since I don’t have any food here yet. I grab my phone and cards and head out the door. It’s a warm day but I'm comfortable in my sweatshirt.
After walking around for a while, I see a diner on the other side of the road. I've been in the city before but mostly for groceries and errands. I’ve never really wandered around here before. Crossing the street, I go to the diner. As soon as I enter the place, I look around for a seat, not sure if I’m just getting food to go or if I want to eat here. I spot several stools empty at the counter and go sit in one of them, picking up a menu, but mostly looking around, taking in the place. It’s a typical diner, with booths and a counter, a jukebox at one end and everything is in light pink, blue and white colors. This place is great. I love it already. “Hey Girl, what can I get you?” I turn my eyes back to the counter and see a waitress looking back at me from behind the counter. She has a warm bright smile on her face, looks to be around my age, long red-ish purple hair and a nose piercing. She looks super friendly, but I also have a feeling that you do not want to piss her off. I smile back at her “Um..Hi. um… not sure actually, haven’t really looked at the menu yet..” I answer with a little shrug. “That’s fine, just take your time.” She smiles. “I haven’t seen you around here before.” She continues, not really asking, more of a statement. “That’s because it’s my first time here, at the diner anyway. I actually just moved here today!” “Well let me say a proper welcome then, and start you off with a coffee on the house.” “thanks” I smile back at her.. “I’m Lily by the way.” she says pouring the coffee into a mug. “I’m Jessie, nice to meet you Lily” Reaching for the mug as she offers it to me. “So you’re attending college here?” She asks. “Yeah I’m starting my first semester in a week.. Just getting settled beforehand.” I answer, “What about you?” “Sure, I go to a few classes, not fully enrolled.. Just some business classes on the side of this gig.. Not really great at the whole sitting still and learning, I’m more of a hands on kind of girl.” Lily shrugs. “Lily?” Some men sitting in a booth call out to her. “Well girl, I’ll give you some time to look over the menu, and I’ll be right back.” She smiles at me, and then walks over the booth to take some other orders.
